Becco Ratings and Reviews
Becco is very good at paying attention to theatre-goers need to get out on time.
We went for lunch, and the 3-pasta plus Ceasar Salad option made everything so much easier for our party of 6. Additional helpings of pasta, and beverage refills were offered before anyone needed to flag down a server.
Service was excellent, from coat check to hostess to serving staff.
We sat upstairs which we find preferable. Have sat both upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs is too noisy. Upstairs is nicer. Downstairs bar is always very crowded and tight on space. Maybe it's because everyone arrives all at once for lunch?
All food was delicious.
All around good experience.
We had a delicious dinner. Wine choices great and we enjoyed the Montepulciano de Abruzzo very much at an excellent price. Inclusion of Caesar salad with entree was nice touch and breads, dips, olives great too. I ordered veal picatta which was authentic and delicious with sautéed spinach sides! The lemon caper sauce on veal was perfect but really cried out for a small portion of spaghetti or angel hair pasta! Since everyone around us seemed to be eating the three pasta special it did not seem like it would have been too difficult to provide a small plate of pasta with the veal! We asked for a table in the bar area which was accommodated and really felt it offered up a true NY vibe!
Excellent as usual! Waiter was very solicitous of friend's dietary needs due to a food allergy. He went above and beyond. We loved our table too...and made sure to get the number for future reference.
Try the burrata! It's wonderful! Meatball "appetizer" is delicious and enough for 3 people!
We had an early reservation, so plenty of time for a leisurely dinner before Springsteen!
Spectacular food, extensive wine list, very attentive service. The trio of three pasta dishes, which vary by the day, are to die for. They arrive piping hot to the table, and you can have an unlimited amount of each of the three. Plus, the restaurant, which is beautiful inside, is in close proximity to the theater district. I love Becco!!
Best fried Calamari I ever tasted! Delicious fresh and hot. Tables close together but acoustics upstairs must be great because you didn’t hear a lot of noise or nearby conversations. Good place for pre theatre meals because service very quick. Almost too quick for diners not going to theatre. They asked us before meal if we were going to a show so they knew we could relax a bit but everything thing came out quickly
The noise level was disturbing. We asked for a quiet location and was told no even though tables were available in other rooms . If you don't care that you cannot have a conversation over dinner, this place might suit your needs. Food was good. Could not hear the server despite asking to repeat the specials. Next time in NY we will try another place.
I was very disappointed with the service and quality of the food. Pasta was cold! Too noisy! Waiter service and food servers were both very inattentive and the latter was very sloppy. This place has become a tourist trap because of Lida's TV fame.
Good meal with an indifferent waiter. Bit of a wait for the guy to get to the table and that set the tone for the rest of the meal. The guy didn't care. He rolled his eyes when we asked about anchovies for our salad. An expediter brought them when asked. We we're never asked if we liked our meal. The manager at least asked but the waiter couldn't be bothered to. Isn't that part of the job?
The veal chop for two was great.
Bad service can ruin a great meal but thanks again to the manager for making this a good experience.
There are a lot of comments on here about bad service. Something is obviously wrong.
This is our second time at Becco and it didn't live up to what we recall from our first visit. The restaurant is very loud and very tight. You'll be making friends with your neighbors for sure. The food was decent, but not worth the cost. Yes it is NYC, but we found other meals that tasted better and were cheaper.
Our biggest complaint is the pasta trio was bland. They serve you so much the first time around that you'll never get to the "unlimited" portions.
Great as always. We've been here a few times and this visit was just as pleasant as those in the past. We started off with a Montepulciano ($29; all the wines are $29), had a salad and an entree' for lunch. My wife came for the Lasagna Bolognese (with Bechamel; practically no one makes this) and she loved it. I chose the featured chicken livers. They were perfect. It's nearby the theater district, so if you show up before or after a show it can be pretty noisy. We lucked out because the whole crowd left as soon as got our wine. Can't say enough nice things about this place; honestly.
