Very great experience
Service was outstanding. Alan, our waiter, was great.
Becca forgot to celebrate my daughter’s birthday despite my writing a note about it.
I love Becco and brought some guests visiting from India. We were seated upstairs near the front of the building. I was disappointed at the ambiance. It was so crowded and noisy we could barely speak to one another.
It is not so difficult to dampen noise in a public space. So I don’t know why this is not done.
The bottle of wine suggested by the waiter was quite good.
My friend at white bean soup, mussels, and the 3 pasta full dinner.
While most of the food was quite up to a standard I would expect from Becco, my meal was a disappointment.
I ordered a beet salad, spinach, and polenta.
The spinach was lovely and delicious. But the beet salad and polenta were not good at all.
The beet salad was tiny for the price and was fairly tasteless.
The polenta was sort of lumpy and had little flavor. It did have melted cheese over the top. Also it had dried out hyper salty slabs of bacon over the whole thing. The bacon was inedible.
On top of all that, the waiter served my 3 guests but literally forgot about my meal entirely. He hadn’t ordered it. It was served to me after they had just about finished eating.
I love Becco and would like to return but was so disappointed between the food and the noise that I may not do so.
Would recommend for a nice night out in the city. Very easy to get to once you’re in Times Square, also only a few blocks from the port authority which is convenient. They were featuring $35 bottles of wine and an unlimited pasta tasting during my visit, which were nice. The restaurant is in what was once a townhouse, and the ambiance and decor is semi-modern but comfortable, which kind of makes it feel like dinner at Grandma’s house. They have a bar inside as well as more formal seating both upstairs and downstairs. My only complaint is that the portions are small for what you pay; I expected Lidia’s restaurants to have a bit larger portions or more “family style” dining. However, all the food was very tasty and whatever ricotta cheese they use is really fantastic.
Food was outstanding. Wine recommendations were good and paired well with our food selections. Coat check option was nice since the restaurant was very crowded. Only negative aspects were that the bar was too crowded to even move through while we were waiting for our table. No place to stand or sit. And our table was set for our party of 3 but it was really a table that should have only been used for two. Couldn’t even fit appetizers on table.
The tuna was cooked to perfection. The chicken parmesan was delicious. The homemade pasta was amazing and melted in your mouth with the added cheese.
Becco is a go to restaurant when we visit NYC. Close to the theater district. We love the pasta special that offers three different dishes with unlimited refills if you have room to put it!
Delicious , generous portion, excellent service and ensured we made it on time to our show. I recommend the veal piccata and the pasta of the day. The have an extensive selection of $35 wine bottles.
Fantastic as usual. Great service good food and the house pino Grigio is very good
Very crowded pretheater. We got seated before our reservation time. Lucky for that or else we would have missed the play.
So give yourself at least 2.5 hrs before theater.
The lunch special was very good
The fixe price lunch menu is a bargain. The gnocchi were the best I ever tasted !!!!
Been there a few times and always consistently good food with good service. Definitely will be back.
Becco was wonderful. Right on Restaurant Row, just right for before the theater!
Got the Pasta special. Had a turkey raviolis, spaghetti w red sauce and spinach pesto with ceasar salad for $35. It was terrific! Unreal flavors. There is a different trio of pasta dishes daily.
Found a local favorite restaurant and loved every bit of it! The food, ambiance and the service.
the only pasta offering is the 3 pasta special --you cannot otherwise order pasta as a main course.
The hangar steak, ordered as medium rare was delivered blood dripping red; the chicken entree was overcooked and only had flavor if you ate the skin. The tables are set knee to knee and shoulder to shoulder, hence the noise level is deafening. Pre-theater, this might be the best of the choices near Broadway, but, surely there must be better options.
We arrived early and waited for our table at the bar. We were seated right inside the door and the wind was intense and we froze for a good part of the dinner. The waitress was very nice, but the service was poor. My cousin ordered a glass of wine and he never got it. We all ordered the pasta special and we barely got one serving of each of the three. The pasta was fair. Our friends were from out of state and we were going to a show after. We were greatly disappointed. We had been there before and will never return.
Used to be better
We were there for a pretheatre dinner. Had the pasta prix fix and it was great (and fun). Desserts were even better. Place was hopping.
Second time at BECCO. It's a very good restaurant. I like the daily pasta special, which is terrific.
Becco was recommended to us by two different people! The food was delicious, the staff was prompt, and they went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience! We will go back to Becco and will certainly recommend it to others!!
My sister and I loved our meal at Becco! We got to the restaurant a little early and enjoyed a drink at the bar. The atmosphere is wonderful, the sever gave us all kinds of options for the specials of the day. It is so relaxing and you can't be in a rush. You want to take in the experience.
The dress attire is casual. Don't worry about having blue jeans on, the servers themselves wear jeans.
The food was five star! So so good! There is something for everyone.
Highly recommended restaurant while visiting New York City and perfect location if you have theatre tickets!
Booked a 2:45 reservation, and arrived early. Waited for our family at the bar. Was told at 2:45, restaurant was closing until dinner at 4, and dinner order must be in by 3. We had no idea we were under a deadline. Lead to an unpleasant discussion with the manager, who reluctantly accommodated us. After having dined here numerous times, I dont think we will be returning . Theres too many other choices to have to deal with attitudes.
A must visit..3 times new York..3 times becco.. quick service , great choice.. would recommend the rump steak
We were staying at a hotel across the street and Becco was recommended to us - not only by the hotel mgr but also by another guest who was staying there. Becco does not disappoint! The food is excellent! My husband had the pasta of the day ( which is 3 pastas) and I had the chicken parmigiana (special that evening). The portions are very large. For dessert we had the choc mousse cake - melts in your mouth! Quite rich though - my husband and I shared it and still left over half! The prices are reasonable. And we loved that we were not forced into a price fixe menu like many of the other restaurants in the area. Tables are quite close together so it can be cozy but it adds to the experience! Highly recommend!
The service was great and the food was delicious. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice spot for a double date!
Excellent as always.
Wonderful experience with my aunt and sisters at this cozy, friendly and upbeat NY restaurant.
Great food good atmosphere
Out of town visitors
Becco has been the gold standard for casual Italian dining for me for over 10 years. I've celebrated several friends’ birthdays there, both small and large scale (40+ people in the back room), as well as my go to for out of town guests. And while the quality of the food and the wine selections remain strong, there really needs to be a serious overhaul on the service training. Granted, we did add to our party at the last minute and they were condescendingly accommodating; but regardless, the service from the moment we walked in was less than stellar. Aside from the half hour wait to be asked about drinks, it wasn’t until after we had been moved into the bar room to accommodate our additional guests (post ordering our dinner) did we hear a complete special list – after four different staff members came by with disparate information. Being re-sat in that bar room felt more of a punishment for bringing additional business to our bill as not only was it impossible for the staff to deliver the pastas, jackets and chairs (and people) kept being knocked into constantly by STAFF (not even patrons) without so much as an acknowledgment or an apology. Despite our final waiter being the most cordial, it was only after seeing my guest visibly upset did he even suggest that the pasta servers come back with a second offering.
Since Summer of 2017, each time I have returned, I have been consistently greeted with lukewarm to sub-par service. And while the food and wine options remain delightful (the Negromaro drank on Sunday was stellar, and the sinfonie of pastas was probably the best in a LONG while), I do question why I keep going back there when the management clearly hasn't been training their staff to continue the high service standards the old regime revered. Quite frankly, it will be a long time before I consider returning again.
I love this restaurant it is consistent, the food is delicious and I think a good value. I had the pasta special.
Delicious pre-theater lunch at the start at the holiday season. Food and service was swift, but not rushed.
Along the years Becco remains "the" Italian Restaurant in Manhattan
Booked Becco as a birthday Show-Dinner date for my GF. I couldn't get a reservation earlier than 6:45pm on Open Table. Show was over 4:30pm..walked around for an hour and got there 5:45pm and they graciously sat us. There were a number of open tables at that point. Gary was our server. He was attentive and responsive. I stayed with water and he made sure the glass was full. The food menu is comprehensive..so many choices. My GF usually has Chardonnay, but there wasn't one to her liking. She asked for a Prosecco. He brought a pink one she didn't like and removed it from the end bill. The carpaccio appetizer was great. She had short ribs and I had osso bucco. Both were outstanding. We shared a gelato dessert and a chocolate cake. Very good. The only real criticism was that it took an unusually long time between clearing the main dishes and getting us dessert menus. Got a little louder and a little busier by the time we finished. Would definitely consider going back.
I've been to Becco several times and it is always a great meal. The staff is mindful of show times and will ask you if you have tickets so they can make sure you are served in a timely manner. I highly recommend it. One of my faves on Restaurant Row.
No complaints on the food or the service.
But the restaurant needs a top to bottom cleaning.
Our table was on another level of wobbly
The chair needs to be wiped down and the tables need to be pulled away from the chair rail to be able to clean the whole perimeter
My chair basically fell apart. It needs to be tossed and the rest of the chairs need a good wiping down and checked to see if they’ve become unglued.
Loved my server and again the service was excellent, but the uniform of my service, the pocket was ripped and I started studying everyone else’s appearances.
It’s all about the details. And once I start to look, then I notice everything.
We loved the meal and the wine was excellent, but close down for a day and give that space a thoroughly good cleaning.
