Food was great as usual, service was prompt, but totally impersonal. We did not see one person on the staff all night smile or act like they enjoyed their jobs. They didn't do a bad job, just seemed off.

This restaurant was so disappointing! Mario Batali’s restaurants are phenomenal and we expected the same from Bastianich—Becco is a terrible tourist trap! Lousy service and flavorless food. Do NOT be fooled by other reviews. The antipasti caldo was awful....pasta was blah. All glasses-4 wine and 4 were empty at the same time. Waiter said he was bringing salad bc the antipasti caldo would, “take a long time”...next thing we know, salads and apps crowding table at once.

First seated in a very cold room where the door continually opened. They moved us at our request. Service was rushed and disorganized. Food was fair at best. We were disappointed.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. Our table was ready when we arrived even though there was a large theater crowd. Our server Michael was excellent. He was one of the best servers we have ever had. Three in our party ordered the price fix lunch ( 3 pastas and a salad) Everything was delicious and a great value. We asked for a side of meatballs and although that wasn't on the menu , they made them for us! Overall a wonderful experience. The only slightly negative thing would be the price of some beverages ( $4.50 for a coffee with out refills {so 2 coffee per person was $9} and $7 for a bottle of water). I would highly recommend and look forward to returning. Thank you Michael!!

Becco was recommended by the concierge and after reading many glowing recommendations, we decided to book dinner for our Saturday night girls trip. It was convenient to our hotel, the atmosphere was nice but I have to say that the food was not what I had hoped for. The short rib was fatty, my veal chop was good, the chicken Parm was good. But at the end of the night, most of our plates were sent back to the kitchen full. It wasn’t that it was bad, it just wasn’t great. The affordable wine choices are amazing and probably the first that I’ve ever had in the city.

My husband and I have been coming every year since we met (4 years) and every year we are blown away at the service, the food, the atmosphere. It's truly only the holiday season when we come in for dinner. Thank you for making our dining experience exceptional.

Went for late lunch on Saturday afternoon, been trying to get here forever, food did not disappoint, it was outstanding. I know this is in the heart of NYC on a Saturday but the service was just adequate, the restaurant is very crowded, they have as many tables as you can possibly get into a small space, pretty much sitting on top of one another. Will go back again as it is a great value and food is awesome, will just have lower expectations on the ambiance.

Pasta tasting was good. Vegetable pasta and shrimp penne were satisfying but didn’t care much for the pumpkin ravioli. We also ordered the salmon, chicken parmigiana and paillard. They didn’t disappoint. Was so full afterwards; didn’t order any more dessert.

Enjoyed the experience. Only thing I would have changed was my groups seating location. We sat in the window alcove. We had gusts of cold air throughout out meal.

Whenever we make a trip to the city we never miss the opportunity to have lunch here. This trip, as with all the others, did not disappoint. Our server Michael was great and today’s pasta trio was superb.

Sat. Dec. 7 was our second trip to NY and Becco's. We enjoyed our lunch and the couple we meet during our stay. We had reservation for 12:15 and we were seated on time. We spent 2 1/2 hrs. eating and chatting with the couple next to us. The food come out quickly and we weren't rushed to get out since we didn't have a show to see this year.

The triple pasta was great. However there is no way to order a single pasta dish from the menu. Also for those ordering from the menu it doesn’t seem that much if anything has changed in the several years we’ve been going there. Also the waiter missed delivering the meatball appetizer.

The food and service is excellent. This is my third time visiting Becco and I have been seated in the same area. It is so crammed with tables and the bar. The whole dinner I had people bumping into the back of my chair. The people on your sides could be sharing your meal because they are so close.

I did notice better seating on the opposite side of the restaurant. Had I known, I would have specified preference to sit there when I made reservation many weeks ago! Keep that in mind if you plan on visiting.

Visited on a Friday for a late lunch - they finally have someone at the front door greeting you who is friendly! The past several visits the staff there was not always the nicest. Cocktails were very good as were the two bottles of wine that we tried. Our appetizers were a mixed bag - the best calamari and polenta con spec. The rice balls and fried mozzarella were really not very good at all. All entrees were very good including lasagna, hangar steak and filet mignon. The three pasta special had great ravioli, but the other two pastas were bland. Overall very good service and atmosphere.

Absolutely fabulous. The pastas are wonderful and bountiful. This place should get five stars just based on the accompaniments—fabulous white bean dip and bread and olives as complimentary appetizers. $35 bottles of wine? In Manhattan? At a Joe Bastianich restaurant? Just fabulous. A treasure.

I love Becco and brought some guests visiting from India. We were seated upstairs near the front of the building. I was disappointed at the ambiance. It was so crowded and noisy we could barely speak to one another.
It is not so difficult to dampen noise in a public space. So I don’t know why this is not done.

The bottle of wine suggested by the waiter was quite good.

My friend at white bean soup, mussels, and the 3 pasta full dinner.

While most of the food was quite up to a standard I would expect from Becco, my meal was a disappointment.
I ordered a beet salad, spinach, and polenta.
The spinach was lovely and delicious. But the beet salad and polenta were not good at all.
The beet salad was tiny for the price and was fairly tasteless.
The polenta was sort of lumpy and had little flavor. It did have melted cheese over the top. Also it had dried out hyper salty slabs of bacon over the whole thing. The bacon was inedible.
On top of all that, the waiter served my 3 guests but literally forgot about my meal entirely. He hadn’t ordered it. It was served to me after they had just about finished eating.
I love Becco and would like to return but was so disappointed between the food and the noise that I may not do so.
