We were a little early for our reservation and were shown to our table right away. After being given water right away, the welcoming service ended. It seemed as if our table wasn’t assigned to anyone, so after 20 minutes, we flagged down a waiter and asked for menus. The waitress who eventually came rattled off the specials at a non-understandable pace and seemed to want to get to her next table while she was speaking. Though we ordered the three pastas, it took over an hour to receive it. It was a very busy night. Perhaps there was not enough service staff for the volume, but as I have been here in the past, the customer volume is familiar and usually the service is spot on. The service was poor.
The food as usual was very good. The pastas were cooked just right. The sauces were on point. I have never had anything negative to say about the food here. Their stuffed and layered pasta dishes are a delight. You keep wanting more. There is not a bad bottle of wine on the list. I’m sure at some point I will visit again because the food is a reliable midtown choice. I just hope we visit on a night where they seem to want us there.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always amazing but for some reason the service was slow and it was not crowded as i went in the afternoon this time . In the evening the service was always excellent . I would still recommend going .
It has great reviews for a reason. The pasta tasting is great, waiter was friendly, good desserts, salad was great, and it was nice to have all the wines priced at $33. Would return.
Pre-theater lunch with friends. Food was delicious- service was fav
I love this place. I’ve never been for lunch before this time I went and it was the best experience. Their unlimited pasta is a steal, bottles of wine are amazingly priced and the service was incredible. Our waiter was so attentive. I wish I remembered his name to give him a shoutout. He never let our glasses get to empty, made sure our plates were always filled and offered to get us more bread. In Manhattan??? Incredible. Highly recommend.
We had a lovely waiter, Mike Williams--I believe was his name. The food was great. The only unfortunate thing is that my friend was sitting under an air conditioning vent and she got dripped on a few times from it. But everything else was great.
Wonderful as always!! Great service, delicious food and wine...our favorite New York dining destination!
I totally recommend Becco! I dare say the best Italian food I’ve ever had. I recommend the three pasta dish since it’s unlimited and you get more for your money + exquisite taste. I also recommend going with an empty stomach so you can really eat! Overall, I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to go back again.
Great pre-show dinner. Very energetic, loud vibe. Don't go without a reservation. Be prepared to be "close" to other diners. The food is very good, as is the service. The wait staff hustles big time. We had plenty of time to eat and enjoy our meal and still get to the theater without feeling rushed. Had a nice table in the corner which was lovely. Definitely recommend.
I didn’t like that the kitchen was closed. They should have warned us before i made the reservation.
Our choice was the “unlimited pasta”.
Simple, but delicious food.
Server forgot that we ordered dessert.
Had lunch before a show. We were seated upstairs in the corner, it was quiet and comfortable. They have three unisex bathrooms on that floor. The staff was excellent. I have celiac and our waiter made sure my meal was gluten free and asked if I’d been sharing any one else’s meal, and alerted me to the breadcrumbs that were not listed on the menu. Everything was very tasty. Would go back.
Amazing pre-show meal.
Had a great time! Food is always good. Our server was not the greatest but it was the end of his shift so I understand. The server that took over was amazing. This is now my favorite go to restaurant in the city. The prices are very fair and the food never disappoints. This is a great place for a get together with friends and family.
Definitely worth the time and money. Menu offers great choices, all that I tried were great. Awesome wines to complement the food. Service is great. All in all a great evening. Note, we were there after theatre had begun. Pre-theatre can be a bit hectic.
excellent food and service - a crowded high energy restaurant especially before the 8 o'clock Broadway shows! also a fine wine list
Meh for NYC. Had higher expectations. Staff very busy with the pre theater crowd. Didn’t have time to answer questions. Wouldn’t have minded if the food was better.
Have been to becco many times. Food always good. Value very good. Was disappointed in service this time. Had 6:15 reservation checked in at 6:10 waited til 6:30 checked in again and they seemed to have mixed my Rez up with someone else’s and forgot us. Then we felt very rushed waiter was rude and rushing us and very hard to understand. Not our beat Becco experience.
Always accommodating when you have to make a show
Perfect dinner and service
For New York City, in the center of the theater district, this is a financial good deal. The food does not live up to my past memories . It is very crowed . Service was very courteous and helpful
I would recommend only seating in the back where we were seated. Bar area too tight.
Have never been disappointed with Becco. Sat upstairs this time with friends for dinner. We all went with the Sinfonia di Pasta, and should have skipped lunch...
A good place for after theatre dinner. The only real drawback was that the only pasta dish available was an unlimited serving of three pastas. Efficient service but I felt a bit processed.
Our 3rd visit to this lovely restaurant. Great food, outstanding service and wine list.
We always make it a priority to have dinner at Becco when we’re visiting the City. It has a great bar and great food. I had a stuffed pepper the other night, fantastic. They have some nice wines by the bottle at a reasonable price too. Becco is a fun restaurant, definitely worth a try.
My chicken parmigiana was a very thin layer of chicken--not a lot of breast meat. My dinner companions choice of the "three pastas" special was all pleasing to them however
Wonderful food. Great service.
Here in NY from San Francisco. Our first dinner in NY before seeing Hamilton was this restaurant. I chose to come because of the celebrity chef owner. I was so very disappointed. The very small table they put us at warbled, view was of a molded roof, rusty broken air conditioners and broken umbrellas, brought Cesar salad and appetizers at the same time table was so small they just handed to us and left. We put food on our dinner plates then put the dishes in a window sill so we had room to eat, appetizers were tasteless and the salad was limp like it had been dressed hours before, osso bucco was very good, the wait staff asked several times how it was going but never waited for a response. The worse was swatting flies away from our food. We won’t be back.
I was sure to include in my reservation that I was celebrating our first anniversary....We were the first guests to arrive and were seated in a hot small room- they did adjust the air but then sat a party of maybe 25 teenagers next to us.. there is no music so don’t count on ambience here... I wrote in my OT reservation that it was my one year anniversary but they don’t do anything special for that I guess... we ordered a bottle of wine but our waiter was in a rush (I guess because they just opened) so he didn’t leave the cork for us when doing bottle service- he ran away and immediately returned so I asked for it but he tossed our first anniversary cork - The only thing I was particularly impressed with was the pesto and marinara for my antipasto - the rest of the food was good.
Our experience today was poor. First, we waited about an hour after ordering to receive our food during a slow lunch. Secondly, we ordered something we previously had at the restaurant only to receive something very different. When we asked the server about it, he didn’t seem to know what the menu item was and asked his supervisor who agreed that the item wasn’t how it normally comes out. Instead of offering to make it correctly or even apologizing, both agreed that hoping next time I ordered it, it would be served and cooked correctly. My plate was barely touched when removed from the table without any concerns from the server and manager who both noticed. We were offered a complimentary dessert due to the extended wait time on receiving our food. We declined politely. We much rather have had our lunches made and served correctly. For a $100 lunch for the two of us, we will definitely not be returning. There are so many wonderful restaurants in the area that truly aim to please their customers with their food and service. We did not receive either today here. Highly disappointed all around.
The food at Becco was good but the service and ambience was awful. Noise level worse than we have ever experienced. Crowded into two person tables, where you are shoulder to shoulder to the next person. The service was abominable. No smiles, no politeness, slow and sloppy. The waiter bumped into our table and spilled our table water. No apology, no clean tablecloth, no attempt to correct the problem. We left as soon as we could.
We were seated in the back room, which was very pleasant with the sky light and back wall stacked with wine. Service was very good and attentive. The wine list was extensive with good range of prices. Our dinner selections were ample and well prepared.
We had the pasta lunch special and all 3 of the pastas were over- cooked
Locale carino, cibo buono e atmosfera informale!
We had tickets for a show and very little time to spend at the restaurant. The waiter was very attentive and timely and we were able to make our show without feeling pressure. The food was excellent!
Excellent pre-theater dinner...the unlimited pasta special is a must! Seated quickly and out in plenty of time for our show. Will definitely return.
Had the mussels and they were outstanding! Sauce was very flavorful and not happy! Always love the bread selection. A really nice place to eat before a show! The service is always good and their Old Fashioned mix drink is great
The only reason for not giving an exception overall rating was because of the wait we had when we checked in. We arrived at our exact reservation time but were told to wait by the bar. We waited for 20 minutes to be seated. It struck me as odd since half the tables appeared empty and there was quite a line to wait on. When we were finally seated and given menus, it was another good 20 minutes before the server came to our table to take our order. This was pre-theatre so we were getting a bit antsy. Service after that was good and we were able to enjoy our meal, but did not have time for coffee which we would have enjoyed.
Even though I attend Broadway shows frequently, I somehow managed to overlook Becco. After several friends raved about it recently, I gave it a try. Everything was top-notch and a very good value, but what I especially loved was the sense of hospitality we felt. Everyone working there is so warm and accommodating! I will be back soon.
BECCO is by far THE most professional, attentive and efficient restaurant operation on Restaurant Row and far beyond. Oh, and the food is MEMORABLY DELICIOUS & THE BUZZ CELEBRATORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
