This restaurant was so disappointing! Mario Batali’s restaurants are phenomenal and we expected the same from Bastianich—Becco is a terrible tourist trap! Lousy service and flavorless food. Do NOT be fooled by other reviews. The antipasti caldo was awful....pasta was blah. All glasses-4 wine and 4 were empty at the same time. Waiter said he was bringing salad bc the antipasti caldo would, “take a long time”...next thing we know, salads and apps crowding table at once.
Pasta tasting was good. Vegetable pasta and shrimp penne were satisfying but didn’t care much for the pumpkin ravioli. We also ordered the salmon, chicken parmigiana and paillard. They didn’t disappoint. Was so full afterwards; didn’t order any more dessert.
Whenever we make a trip to the city we never miss the opportunity to have lunch here. This trip, as with all the others, did not disappoint. Our server Michael was great and today’s pasta trio was superb.
Great after theatre late dinner. Delicious food and Michael was a wonderful waiter! Great value
Always delicious food and good service. Can be a. It hectic around Broadway show times. Not much waiting room for a table.
Amazing food and amazing service. Highly recommend
Been coming here forever still the best place for pre theater. Love the wine list all at $35.
The food is good but the server was non existent and the environment so busy, loud and overcrowded in a tiny space....all of the above even by NY standards
The food and service is excellent. This is my third time visiting Becco and I have been seated in the same area. It is so crammed with tables and the bar. The whole dinner I had people bumping into the back of my chair. The people on your sides could be sharing your meal because they are so close.
I did notice better seating on the opposite side of the restaurant. Had I known, I would have specified preference to sit there when I made reservation many weeks ago! Keep that in mind if you plan on visiting.
Becco has been my favorite restaurant in NYC for years. The food is always outstanding and the service is exceptional. I would to sit in the glassed room ceiling though.
Very great experience
As always, consistent and good value. Busy but good service. Had pasta special- hint- go in hungry. You’ll enjoy. Food is superb.
Delicious food. Never disappointed
Delicious! Noisy and crowded but worth it!
Not worth the money - and it really isn’t a very expensive, so that says a lot. Doesn’t liv
Absolutely fabulous. The pastas are wonderful and bountiful. This place should get five stars just based on the accompaniments—fabulous white bean dip and bread and olives as complimentary appetizers. $35 bottles of wine? In Manhattan? At a Joe Bastianich restaurant? Just fabulous. A treasure.
Service was outstanding. Alan, our waiter, was great.
Always wonderful. Go every year while visiting New York
Great food .. great waiter!
Becca forgot to celebrate my daughter’s birthday despite my writing a note about it.
I love Becco and brought some guests visiting from India. We were seated upstairs near the front of the building. I was disappointed at the ambiance. It was so crowded and noisy we could barely speak to one another.
It is not so difficult to dampen noise in a public space. So I don’t know why this is not done.
The bottle of wine suggested by the waiter was quite good.
My friend at white bean soup, mussels, and the 3 pasta full dinner.
While most of the food was quite up to a standard I would expect from Becco, my meal was a disappointment.
I ordered a beet salad, spinach, and polenta.
The spinach was lovely and delicious. But the beet salad and polenta were not good at all.
The beet salad was tiny for the price and was fairly tasteless.
The polenta was sort of lumpy and had little flavor. It did have melted cheese over the top. Also it had dried out hyper salty slabs of bacon over the whole thing. The bacon was inedible.
On top of all that, the waiter served my 3 guests but literally forgot about my meal entirely. He hadn’t ordered it. It was served to me after they had just about finished eating.
I love Becco and would like to return but was so disappointed between the food and the noise that I may not do so.
Would recommend for a nice night out in the city. Very easy to get to once you’re in Times Square, also only a few blocks from the port authority which is convenient. They were featuring $35 bottles of wine and an unlimited pasta tasting during my visit, which were nice. The restaurant is in what was once a townhouse, and the ambiance and decor is semi-modern but comfortable, which kind of makes it feel like dinner at Grandma’s house. They have a bar inside as well as more formal seating both upstairs and downstairs. My only complaint is that the portions are small for what you pay; I expected Lidia’s restaurants to have a bit larger portions or more “family style” dining. However, all the food was very tasty and whatever ricotta cheese they use is really fantastic.
Food was outstanding. Wine recommendations were good and paired well with our food selections. Coat check option was nice since the restaurant was very crowded. Only negative aspects were that the bar was too crowded to even move through while we were waiting for our table. No place to stand or sit. And our table was set for our party of 3 but it was really a table that should have only been used for two. Couldn’t even fit appetizers on table.
The tuna was cooked to perfection. The chicken parmesan was delicious. The homemade pasta was amazing and melted in your mouth with the added cheese.
Would prefer to have dinner in the main dining area, but we were very pleased with the food and service.
Becco is a go to restaurant when we visit NYC. Close to the theater district. We love the pasta special that offers three different dishes with unlimited refills if you have room to put it!
Delicious , generous portion, excellent service and ensured we made it on time to our show. I recommend the veal piccata and the pasta of the day. The have an extensive selection of $35 wine bottles.
Even though I live in Charlottr,NC this was my second time here this year. Brought friends since I loved it so much the first time! Not disappointed..and they loved it too!
Fantastic as usual. Great service good food and the house pino Grigio is very good
I was in NYC for the day with my sisters-in-law. We love Lidia so chose Becco for a late lunch. The restaurant was very clean, our service was good and the food and wine were delicious! We would go back.
Very crowded pretheater. We got seated before our reservation time. Lucky for that or else we would have missed the play.
So give yourself at least 2.5 hrs before theater.
The lunch special was very good
The fixe price lunch menu is a bargain. The gnocchi were the best I ever tasted !!!!
Been there a few times and always consistently good food with good service. Definitely will be back.
Becco was wonderful. Right on Restaurant Row, just right for before the theater!
Got the Pasta special. Had a turkey raviolis, spaghetti w red sauce and spinach pesto with ceasar salad for $35. It was terrific! Unreal flavors. There is a different trio of pasta dishes daily.
Found a local favorite restaurant and loved every bit of it! The food, ambiance and the service.
the only pasta offering is the 3 pasta special --you cannot otherwise order pasta as a main course.
The hangar steak, ordered as medium rare was delivered blood dripping red; the chicken entree was overcooked and only had flavor if you ate the skin. The tables are set knee to knee and shoulder to shoulder, hence the noise level is deafening. Pre-theater, this might be the best of the choices near Broadway, but, surely there must be better options.
We arrived early and waited for our table at the bar. We were seated right inside the door and the wind was intense and we froze for a good part of the dinner. The waitress was very nice, but the service was poor. My cousin ordered a glass of wine and he never got it. We all ordered the pasta special and we barely got one serving of each of the three. The pasta was fair. Our friends were from out of state and we were going to a show after. We were greatly disappointed. We had been there before and will never return.
Used to be better
We were there for a pretheatre dinner. Had the pasta prix fix and it was great (and fun). Desserts were even better. Place was hopping.
