Our server. Grace was absolutely fabulous !
From start to finish it was off...
From valet through the meal..
service wasn’t great..
Food was awful..
extremely poor service even after I brought it to the attention of Manager.
Really disappointed Bc it was a special occasion & I feel the service & experience took from our celebration.
Was very disappointing. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. Our main course with wine was served before we had finished our appetizers and drinks. The whole evening felt a little rushed. For the price, I was expecting much better food and service. Probably will not go back.
Delicious food and our waiter, Andrew, was fantastic. He made us feel right at home and made great dinner suggestions. Fresh vegies and my Beef Wellington was amazing. Great place to eat and beautiful atmosphere.
Very nice, beautiful setting, great service, my granddaughter had a great lunch for her 21st birthday.
Great food served in an elegant setting by an attentive staff.
Server did not mention day’s specials and overall service was just ok.
Service very slow because very busy without enough staff. Every one chipped in but nowhere enough staff to avoid long delays. Our server was outstanding when present.
Very elegant place. Food taste good. Place was very clean. Bone-in filet beef was outstanding!
Tl;dr Service was slow and server was inattentive.
Each time we told the server we were ready to order something, he walked away, went to other tables and came back later. Took 15 minutes to get a coffee after it was ordered and 30 minutes to get a room temperature cinnamon roll after it was ordered. Food tastes pretty good though one dish had brown egg shells in it. When we flagged the server down--who had not checked on us at all--and told him about egg shell, he said nothing and took the plate. A manager came to the table, and we said we didn't want it remade, just removed. The server came back saying that it was being remade and we reiterated that we didn't want it--everone one else was finished eating. 15 minutes later he brought the check and he said he wished we would have told him sooner so he could have done something about it (when we had to flag him down in the first place). Will not be returning.
Very polished operation. Our server was friendly and attentive. The menu was for brunch so we cannot comment on everything they prepare but the dishes we ordered were delicious.
Went for a birthday dinner and not just the atmosphere was breathtaking the food presentation and the taste was above and beyond what we had expected
Perfection! The entire experience was a spectacular.
Too loud to enjoy
Trouble with order and food received
Service was painfully slow, but it is a lovely spot for Sunday brunch and the food is always good. Just be prepared for a long meal and bring an extra dose of patience.
So sorry, please change my review to Miranda as our waitress!
Seated at a 6 person table, for a party of two. It took 20 mins for our server to greet us. Nothing special was done when it was noted it was our anniversary.
Called in to specifically note a birthday and asked about ordering a cake. They told me it would require a weeks notice, but that a free desert would be delivered. They “noted my reservation”. Never recieved anything.
Found service to be very bumpy and somewhat unprofessional. Had one experience where the hostess interrupted the server in the middle of taking our order to ask him a question.
I wonderful place to go for a nice evening or to celebrate your anniversary.
Enjoyed the food and hotel, the wait staff was great. I was disappointed that we weren't offered the lunch menu. Brunch was served instead.
Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service! Definitely a great place to enjoy a good meal and relax!
Wonderful experience at the Cavalier. Food is delicious, fresh and interesting. Staff are inviting and the location is amazing.
The hotel that the restaurant is in is beautiful, after you eat you can sit in a sunroom or outside on a hill overlooking a scenic view. The restaurant itself is just as visually appealing. With a distillery in the building, I recommend the bourbon on the rocks. You will probably want to take some home with you (which you can). My girlfriend and I had the short rib gnocchi for an appetizer which I wish was a main course. For dinner I had the Bone in Filet with pieces of “the three little pigs” meal taken from my dates plate, with permission. Both were very delicious and both a good size for the price. We had an amazing time at this restaurant and exploring the hotel afterwards, I highly recommend and will definitely come back again for a special occasion and to explore the distillery. Also, when we left there was a Rolls Royce Phantom outside, no big deal .
We were visiting the area and this was recommended. Certainly at the top of our experience! Stephen took excellent care of us. Everyone we engaged with while we visited the Cavalier for the day were extremely positive and professional - a delightful experience. Such impeccable attention to details on all levels! Our only regret is that we don’t live closer...
Beautiful! Lovely setting and the food was yummy! I will go again.
Burgers on the terrace! Great service with Ian. Good friends & great wine.
Excellent night with friends for burger and wine night :) enjoy every time I'm at the Cavalier!
Enjoyed for burger night (September Monday night special) that includes your choice of specialty burger with a glass of Caymus Cabernet for $15. Incredibly delicious and excellent value. The atmosphere and service are top notch. Hope they do this again soon! There are also dessert specials. Loved the bourbon brownie.
Great service and the food was excellent! All wait staff worked together and that was extra nice.
Enjoyed our special outdoor lunch. The food was very tasty. Had an issue with the flies. Need to do something about that. Our waiter was pleasant, capable, not overly friendly and a little slow with refills. But, overall would most definitely go back!
Becca is our party of 4 birthday celebration place but we were VERY disappointed this visit. It took forever to get our cocktails and when we did glass of white wine was hot; server was made aware and after long wait of 1/2 hour later brought glass of super chilled wine! Everyone's food was cold; Crab Benedict only had a TINY bit of crabmeat (had to look for it to see it) and Hollandaise sauce had no taste! And the topper was the restrooms: the one in Becca had trash can overflowing with paper towels, spilling over the floor; and the one by ballrooms had no toilet paper, no soap, and 2 water spigots did not work. I’m writing this review not to complain but to make you aware of this; I love Becca and the Cavalier and hate to see it decline to where it was before the renovation. We will be back and hope that it will be like it has been over the past year and nit this one day in September 2019!
We've eaten at Becca before and always had a good experience. This time was different. Went for brunch on a Sunday. Took forever to get our food ordered and then forever to get the food. One of the guests in my party asked for more hollandaise sauce and they brought a tiny little pitcher and she asked if she could get more and was told "probably not". They put us in the big dining room away from everyone else so it seemed eerily quiet and not really the experience that we were hoping to show our guests from out of town. When we arrived we waited about 10 minutes for a hostess to even come to the hostess stand to allow us to check-in. I'm hoping it was an "off" day for the Becca staff but I am reluctant now to take other guests there for brunch.
Our fabulous post-Neptune Festival Sunday brunch featured delicious food, delightful server, beautiful sunlit location. Favorites were shrimp and grits, bourbon brioche French toast, and to-die-for homemade cinnamon buns. A little noisy once the room filled, but truth be told, our party of 7 definitely contributed our share of merriment.
No I really would not. The servicer was friendly but clearly had not worked in a high end restaurant atmosphere in that she was not efficient in removing dirty dishes, anticipating needs of diners, etc.
Perhaps Becca also has a kitchen problem as we were given no food even the delicious popovers until I asked for them 50 minutes after we had been seated/placed our order for appetizers.
The appetizer took nearly 55 minutes to be brought and they were a shrimp cocktail and 4 oysters on the half shell; hardly a difficult time consuming appetizer.
Becca needs new management and staff training.
My husband and I we used to go to Beca because was one of the few classy places in Virginia Beach ... well not classy anymore.
We were sitting at the patio with no lights, the service was a disaster , the waiter was with more tables than she could handle , we ordered an expensive champagne and my husband has to serve us constantly because no one was doing it . People was dress like they were going to the grocery store.
The cavalier hotel and Becca are going done if they continue with this bad service.
I was disappointed. I ordered the steak frite and there were about six small pieces of steak already cut, so it did not stay hot, it did not come with the herb butter as stated on the menu, the frites were very crunchy and tasted like they were lightly drizzled with mayonnaise not truffle oil. They did not stay hot either. The dressed greens came in a tiny bowl instead of a chilled plate. My mother got one small crab cake and the roasted cauliflower spinach medley had three small pieces of cauliflower. No bread for the table which at $25 and $20 for lunch entrees seemed stingy. To be honest, it all seemed stingy and not worth the $62.00 we paid with tax and tip we paid. Sorry, but just being honest.
Server was not helpful, food was mediocre and definitely not worth the money. The best thing on my plate was the garnish pickles (2) the best thing on my wife’s plate was the garnish greens. Not really a meal for your 26th wedding anniversary. The 3rd guest (fly) at our table was not very welcomed either. I will definitely not be going back.
We waited for over an hour for breakfast food. Don’t go if you want to eat in a timely manor.
OUR SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE AND THE SERVER ONLY HAD 2 TABLES. MY FISH WAS SO FISHY I COULD NOT EAT IT. WHEN THE SERVER FINALLY CAME BACK AND REPLACED IT WITH SOMETHING I DID NOT ORDER BUT THE CHIEF DECIDED TO PREPARE FLOUNDER FOR ME THAT WAS DIFFERENT THEN WHAT I ORDERED. REALLY!! I LOVED THE OUTDOOR SETTING SO IT IS REALLY TO BAD THE SERVICE WAS SO BAD. I JUST ORDERED THE WRONG THING BUT I TOLD THE SERVER I DO NOT LIKE FISHY TASTING SEAFOOD. SHE RECOMMENDED WHAT WAS THE SPECIAL FOR THE NIGHT WHICH WAS NOT GOOD.
Great food, lovely environment. The service was not up to par.
