Beautiful patio but food is over-priced. The specials where you cook your food over a hot stone are fun but ask about the price unless you are ok with $45 appetizers!
Absolutely fantastic!!! Gorgeous setting with a extremely relaxing vibe. Staff is fantastic as soon as you arrive. Our waitress, Cali , was awesome. The food was perfect!!!. Definitely worth the time. Will be going back again.
We greeted at reservation desk nicely ,
Guided us to our table, Miranda was our hostess, nice always smiling, and attentive .
Gave our order , French toast and oyster as appetizer , came on time, and then almost 37 minutes passed , no main courses served,
My wife went to table manager and asked what is going on,
Not acceptable answer , she brought us a basket of 4 cup cakes.
Another 15 minutes, Miranda appeared there, called her and asked what is going on.
No acceptable answer.
After 3 minutes they served the main course.
But the quality of food they served, was not Cavaliers good that we had experience several occasions. Stake was not edible , burger tastes sweet,
Restaurant manager came over apologizing for happening, promised to look into it, and offers us free of charge.
My guests were coming from Richmond just to participate fining at BECA.
The restaurant, and whole hotel, is gorgeous! We came for a 1:00 Sunday brunch reservation, Becca was only about 1/3 full. The waitress warned us right when we ordered that the kitchen was backed up, so that was good that we knew that up front. The food took well over an hour to come to our table after we ordered, and when it did come the $21.00 omelette was cold. Also the chicken and waffles tasted good but the waffle was really small, flat and nothing like a good Belgian waffle. There was no garnish of any kind. The avocado toast was fine, but also very skimpy. For $14 I would think they could load it up a bit more and maybe use 2 poached eggs instead of one.
The waitress was very nice and apologized for the delay. However she never asked if we wanted anything else to drink other than water. Once the food came there was no salt and pepper, and she never came by in time for us to get any. At that point we were so hungry we didn't want to wait for it. We asked to speak to the manager about the cold omelette, and he got us a new one right away. The only upside was that he brought us 2 desserts on the house (which were delicious), took the omelette off the bill, and took 50% off the rest of the bill. That was a very nice gesture and much appreciated. Even so, we would not return to this restaurant.
The service is slow but the food is good. I would definitely recommend the brunch.
To start off, their Bloody Mary is really good. The service is ok. When it comes to their brunch, it was disappointing. The Pungo Steak was tough and Eggs Benedict was suppose to contain crab meat but could not even taste the crab meat in it. Suffice to say it might have been left off. The ambiance is what your paying for.
It was my second time there and I would call it mediocre. The food was just okay, small portions. We waited over an hour for our food and the restaurant was only 60 percent full. I wanted to like Becca, the hostess and reservation staff were fine, but the meal experience was a disappointment.
It was incredibly pleasant from start to finish
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We sat outside and the ambience was perfect, tables were spaced for privacy and the garden was beautiful. It was cool to see staff picking herbs as needed.
I would recommend Becca for the ambiance and beautiful setting overlooking the ocean. It takes a really long time for food to be prepared and served and it wasn’t worth the price. It was a gorgeous setting. It just takes way too long for food to be served .
Loved sitting outside, everyone is very nice and attentive.
My experience in the past has been awesome , but to be honest I was a bit disappointed in the very slow service and the extreme heat in the resturant ...
there must have been something wrong with the system.
The Riley room was also extremely loud , again perhaps there was a function going on.
Hopefully that was an unusual circumstance .
We had the tasting menu which was superb in every way. Andy was our server and he was caring, personable and knew everything about each component of the menu. He added a fun aspect to our evening. We only wish we lived nearby (from Pittsburgh).
I did enjoy my visit to your dining room. However was disappointed in the crab soup. Was expecting a much better tasting soup with some crab meat. My daughter and I both order the sandwich and soup combo and was way overpriced for $14 for each. The half turkey sandwich was very good. My other daughter ordered the shrimp poboy. That was good but not over the top.
Not sure what I will return
Poor service. Good food.
Waitress mispronounced ingredients. Food didn’t come out at same time. We stared at food for over 5 min. Waitress disappeared for long periods of time. And it wasn’t busy.
Lots of thing on menu not available.
Manager was responsive after witnessing all the mistakes.
Had to wait 10 min for bathroom for the cleaner staff.
Couldn’t have been better. It has improved every time I have dined there. I will definitely return.
My daughter and I had been trying various VA Beach restaurants and wanted to check out the cavalier. Hotel and decor is just gorgeous. The hostesses were not the friendliest bunch and I wanted to remind them- “This is Virginia Beach 😉”. A please where we had not run into stuffiness and certainly a place where that wasn’t warranted. We had asked for outdoor/window seating but we were taken to the interior empty dining room to a table smack dab next to a couple trying to have a romantic meal. Before our menus were placed I asked to be near the window in the other room. We were then seated at a table of our liking. Service was strange and our server felt like she was nervous and scared. We were served burnt turnover breads that were bland and chewy. My daughter ordered a new seasonal chick. dish that was delicious. I ordered a special of the night/ New Orleans style crab cake. Our sever described this as a crab cake over brioche bread with arugula. This dish came out with two deep fried crabs still in the shell over a 3 inch brioche toast. Once cracking into the fried crab the yucky yellow and gray guts spilled onto the rest of the food and you had to work for the little bits of crab which had no flavor. Note to others if this is a New Orleans crab cake you will be disappointed. I asked that this be sent back and replaced with the crab cake on the menu. Being that our server rarely came back to check on us/ the bus girl kindly took my plate and 20 minutes later the crab cake was delivered by a good runner. Bottom was overly crispy and 10 minutes after this the server came back to say oh good your food was delivered. Strange service and not impressive food.
I apologize for the service that did not meet your expectations and that you misunderstood your choices. We do not have turnovers. Our popovers are a classic Yorkshire Pudding and meant to be "chewy"--very dark but not burnt. Soft Shell Crabs are a delicacy and nothing like crab cakes nor anything to do with New Orleans and are not stated as such. Your description of the soft shell crab is exactly how they are meant to be served. I am so sorry we did not know of your discontent before leaving.
I have eaten at Beccas several times and have always enjoyed it greatly. This time I was a little disappointed. The skirt steak was not cooked as ordered and had to be sent back. The server was not as attentive as I have experienced or expected. And the serving of wine was laughably small. But we’ll still be back!
I have to say this was the most delicious food I've had in years! Everything was amazing! It's on the pricey end of the spectrum however, it's extremely worth it. My husband and I enjoyed two appetizers, two cocktails, two entrees and dessert for about $260 including the 20% gratuity. Well worth the cost. Our server Rochelle was so very nice and helpful.
We plan to visit again real soon.
Great overall experience!!! First time visiting!! I will definitely return!!!Waitress may have been a little presumptive about whether or not we were experienced with the sort of dining offered at Becca which was a little weird. I just think there’s a fine line between educating your guest and somehow insulting them at the same time. Nothing a little couching won’t fix. But we definitely enjoyed the environment as well as the food.
The Sunday brunch was excellent. The omelettes were delicious and fresh. The service was phenomenal. The entire staff were very polite and courteous. The ambiance in the restaurant was very appealing, nice, bright with beautiful surroundings . Very comfortable and enjoyable. Looking forward to going back again.
The reservation process went well and the staff was courteous and professional.
The food was great even though it took longer than expected to reach the table. One of three orders had an item missing (coffee) and it was never delivered to the table.
There were two wait staff because one was in training, and they worked well together.
The bill had three items which had the incorrect prices relative to the menu, yet we tipped based on the higher incorrect pricing.
The ambience was nice so we would give it a second chance.
Food took over an hour . Fathers day and he is dying of brain cancer. Thought his last fathers day would be wonderful there, but truly disappointed. Will not return.
Food was delicious. Waitress remembered our name from reservation. Good experience.
First time at Becca and it was fantastic.
We appreciated the secluded dining area.
You may wish to investigate if n there is any way to
keep the flies from the dining room, I realize this is
difficult given the need to service the outdoor diners.
We did not understand the request to make a 7:15 reservation
rather than the 7:00. There were plenty of empty tables when
we arrived, and at no time prior to our departure at 8:30 was the
dining room full.
Nevertheless, we had an enjoyable evening.
Fabulous meal and service! Ali was a gracious and knowledgeable server. Every plate was intriguing. One of my favorite restaurants in the Commonwealth.
Always fantastic! It doesn’t matter what you order the outdoor seating area is the best place to be for scenery & ambiance.
Waited forever for drinks - amuse bouche can and apps at same time --- still no drinks. Then waiting 40 minutes for our main course. Also hate the ipad for the drink menu -- it was not even updated when they were out of a wine. Would not go back. Love the ambiance but....
Very nice ambiance ,excellent good and good service!
Desert menu not up to Pat with the rest of the menu. Very disappointing.
If you sit outside you will have to talk over the jets. Other than that it is a good restaurant.
I had noted the “special occasion” in my reservation was mother of the bride and bride lunch to kick off our wedding weekend. Our lunch was fabulous however, I wish the occasion could have been mentioned or noted in some manner. Our waitress was wonderful.
Our dinner was wonderful. They even brought us a chef's tasting of a cold soup which we loved so much they brought us a larger version.
My wife's 65th birthday. We were put out on the porch. The main restaurant would have been better. The restaurant appeared to be filled to 20% capacity. Waiter was a nice young man, but too attentive. After emphasizing up front that we were not in a hurry, salad was delivered shortly after shared starter. It was sent back. Main meal was mediocre; steak overcooked. Having had dinner in Becca before, I expected an exceptional night. It wasn't.
The popovers are terrific.
Fantastic , classical setting just off the ocean. Beautiful scenery in a historic spot. Top notch service
We had a wonderful evening. My only complaint was the noise level (seated near a large, noisy group in the tiled area), otherwise we would have given 5 stars for ambiance. Service was excellent.
Becca is a beautiful restaurant in an updated historic hotel. The ambiance is lovely. The service was excellent and very personalized. We were spoken to by name. The food was inconsistent. We did not enjoy the chunky texture of our cucumber, avocado, jalapeno gespacho amuse-bouche. However, the she crab soup and the garlic and cheese popovers were very tasty. The short rib gnocchi was not very rich tasting, and the pickled apples did nothing for the dish. The sunflower seeds were nowhere to be found. We tried the 3 Little Pig entree with 3 cuts of pork and the Prime Rib entree. The pork loin was very salty, but the cheek and belly were nicely seasoned and cooked. The prime rib was delicious! There were 2 pieces and 1 was almost inedible b/c it was mostly gristle. The potato gratin and roasted root vegetables that came with the prime rib were undercooked and very hard and crunchy. We were asked if everything was cooked to our liking so I mentioned the hard veggies. They apologized and brought us new roasted vegetables and potato gratin that weren't any better. Overall, we had a nice dining experience. The quality of the food doesn't support the pricing so we probably wont be back.
Beautiful environment, friendly staff, food is very good. Service is extremely slow, which was frustrating. The noise level is very high making conversation difficult. To sum up, some things are excellent, but others are a bit disappointing.
This restaurant is in the Cavalier hotel in Virginia Beach, close to the beach, on a high grassy knoll. After a thorough renovation the hotel and restaurant opened up in the spring of 2018. If you want fine dining 10-15 minutes walk from the north end of the boardwalk, this is the place to go.
We had our dinner outside on the terrace in excellent weather. We started with a Prosecco drink (Campari, sweet vermouth, lemon juice, and Prosecco) which is not on the cocktail menu, but made to perfection by the bar tender. As starters we had 'Wood fire grilled local oysters' and 'Clams Casino', specialty of the day. Both truly outstanding.
Out main courses were 'Wild mushroom Ravioli' and 'Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes', again two outstanding dishes.
The service by Jordan was perfect, in spite of the fact that this was her second night as server at this restaurant. The restaurant manager, Richard Balducci, took good care of us too. Management chooses their staff very well.
Overall an excellent experience.
[If you are dining outside, you might get disturbed by low flying F/A 18 Super Hornets from the Naval Air Station Oceana (but that is everywhere in Virginia Beach)]
