It was my husband’s birthday and someone recommended we go to a restaurant at the Cavalier , after it’s renovation . We have lived all over the world , and have had a hard time finding our “ go to “ restaurant here for special occasions . It was truly a wonderful evening , and Stephen our waiter was superb. The food was creative , farm to table and , perfect . We will be back !
Great vibe in the restaurant. Ate on the early end on a Saturday night, so not sure about noise level past 7:30PM when we left, but it was lovely when we were there. Great service and very attentive. I am in my last trimester and my husband and I stayed at the Cavalier for a couple of nights fora baby moon. The restaurant was really accommodating and made me a virgin version of one of their cocktails and made sure I was well taken care of. Food was delicious and we had a great time. Would definitely recommend.
I and my wife looked forward to enjoying a 5 star restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Arriving at the Cavalier is regal complete with valet parking by very professional young men. Entering the hotel lobby is a stirring experience...the decor is palaceal.
We were greeted at the Becca entrance by several, including the Food and Beverage Manager. Seating was quick and we received a very nice table able to see the entire dining room. Initial service was quick and warm. Our waiter, Stephen, was a delight and friendly. He gave us a thorough explanation of the menu and evening specials and brought us the bottle of Merlot wine we ordered and opened it at our table.
My wife ordered a Baby Kale salad from the menu and I a bowl of She Crab soup. We both selected the Roasted Prime Rib with mini baked potato and root veggies which is available only on Friday and Saturday night.
Now for the bad news! Apparently we were given the wrong menu. The Baby Kale salad was taken off the menu and another choice had to be made, which actually was very good. My soup was only luke warm!
By the way, our pastry puffs were VERY good.
The Prime rib was served as two slices, a generous offering. However, even with a steak knife was very difficult to cut. The taste and seasoning was pleasing but somewhat chewy. Root veggies not roasted enough...rather al dente, but the potato was good. We brought more than half of our meal home and had it the next evening as leftovers after more cooking.
Our dessert was the Dessert Sampler which was very good.
The price, which we expected was high. But not right for tough Prime Rib.
After being given our check and enclosing credit card we had to wait too long for Stephen to retrieve it as he chatted with other employees. When you are ready to go, you are ready to go!
The ambience of the hotel and restaurant is first class. We bought a bottle of The Tarnished Truth at the distillery shop...also expensive.
The Hunt Room, visited last year, BETTER
I felt far away from my husband because the tables are rectangular and you have sit long ways at the tables and it is hard to hear the other person without feeling like you are screaming at them. The food was a little hit or miss. The dessert was great. The tartar appetizer just wasn't my cup of tea but the she crab soup was very good, and we are picky about our she crab soup. For dinner the lamb was great, just wish I have at least 3 lamb chops instead of 2.
So good!! Could not decide if “best” food was popover, appetizer, entree or desert—all were delicious! And wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and polite. Great dinner at a very special place in Va Beach!!
While pricy, excellent. Great outing for my hubby's birthday. And open table worked well at this restaurant. Thank you...

All the food we had was well prepared. The Lobster Pot Pie appetizer had large chunks of claw meat and was topped with a very flaky puff pastry, the Caesar and Brussels Sprout salads were unique and very tasty and the Rockfish entree was perfectly done. The service was also very attentive.
Our server wasn't very helpful and the original drinks we ordered didn't look or tasted as said on the menu. I'm not sure if it was a server mistake or bartender mistake. Food was delicious and the rest of our drinks were outstanding. A must when visiting.
Beautiful atmosphere/ ambiance with very nice staff. Food was good, the apple strudel tart was by far my favorite. I order the salmon, it was good, but the portion was extremely small. It could have been better. My husband ordered spinach as a side, the portion was about 2 spoon fulls and I believe it was $10 or $12. Over I would go back and maybe not order the salmon.
Becca is a delightful place to dine as part of the Cavalier experience. The restaurant is bright and airy and looks out onto the gardens and fire pit. The food is very good and the service even better. It is not unusual to see the manager of Becca’s delivering plates to the tables and replenishing tea glasses. Following a meal at Becca with a tour and tasting at the Tarnished Truth Distillery is a great way to top off the time at the Cavalier.

It was delicious meal and service was excellent. However, I’m not a fan of being given electronic device to look for wine options...took away some of the ambiance

Awesome experience for my husband’s birthday! The food was great and the service was awesome. The history of the hotel was also great to learn about.
The god was served warm not hot. The wahoo had little taste. The rice was undercooked.The cassoulet was barely warm an could have more flavor. The lamb chops were good but not very hot.
Very enjoyable; Menu has a verity to select from and prices are reasonable. Lobster rolls are great and so is the BBQ fruit sandwich. The prices of the wine and beer are on the high side.
Overpriced.... actually, BEYOND overpriced. I ordered the salmon and couldn’t even eat it because it was no fresh at all ( for $30 I would expect to be able to eat more than the side). My husband ordered the NY Stip ($40), and honestly, he makes a better one at home. The drinks were amazing, and the atmosphere of the cavalier as a whole is great- but skip the meal.
Dining area was acoustically bright, and noise was an issue. Drinks were expensive for what was served. Food was very tasteful and well presented. Service was not as fast or as attentive as I expect.

I wish that it had been sunny. The dining porch is so beautiful in sunlight! I love the privacy of the gazebo part. It is very romantic!

I brought a friend here for lunch for her birthday celebration, she had yet to visit Becca. Everything was very nice and the food came out very quickly. I love Becca for a special occasion and always enjoy the experience. There was a slight issue with my food this time which I pointed out to my server. To be honest I felt like he probably should have gotten a manager or perhaps comped something on the meal...he did not. I intended to call management about this, but have yet to do so. With all that being said, it will not stop me from visiting Becca again in the future.

The food and service was outstanding
Wonderful place for dinner. We had an excellent waiter, his name is Samuel. The food was excellent, albeit modest portions. We were seated next to a wait station where water pitchers are filled, though there ware many many other tables available. It bothered me a little. I felt a bit marginalized.
For the price and reputation, Becca missed on the little things that make for an exceptional dining experience. The prime rib was mediocre at best, good portion but tough even with a steak knife.
Would recommend only for the ambiance. I have been numerous times and the servers are always extremely young and seem awkward. The lunch menu is very limited, portions are very small for the price. I ordered soup and half sandwich, there were possibly three tablespoons of soup in the dish. Unfortunately you leave needing lunch.
Absolutely loved Becca. The food, environment, being back in The Cavalier!!!! Sitting in the porch/veranda was a bit loud though - that’s the only thing I wasn’t crazy about.
Stayed at the cavalier as a fun getaway. Everyone and everything are great.

Always a great experience. However when one of the meals was not up to par and when we asked for a replacement was charged for that. Also $10 for a small order of French fries. Give me a break.
Although a little disappointed, we will definitely return as this was the first mistake for Becca through several dining experiences.
We have always loved coming to Becca and have been here many times. My lunch experience the other day was a bit disappointing. The service and atmosphere of course was perfect as usual. My salad, however contained wilted, slimy greens and mushy tomatoes. The portion of chicken on the salad was minuscule and the chicken had absolutely no flavor. I am hoping the kitchen was just having an off day. Our server Elizabeth was exceptional!
From the moment the charismatic, proper doorman welcomed us the The Cavalier Hotel, walking through the grand entrance and touring the historic and beautifully restored "Grand Dame" and being seated in Becca, we knew this would a special night. Becca provided wonderful lighting, ambiance, seating and service. The food and craft cocktails were delicious. Highly recommend Becca for any occasion or just for a great meal in a wonderful setting.
Wonderful experience as always. Professional staff and exceptional service from Natasha at the bar. Good price point for a ribeye. Was the best I ever had. Chef Kevin you do great work. Can’t wait return!

My friends surprised me for my birthday and brought me to Becca. One of the best dinners I’ve had in a while. Yurii was our server and he took great care of us and made sure we were having a great night.
