Beauty & Essex- New York Ratings and Reviews
Went Saturday night for my girlfriend’s birthday. The experience was fantastic. We both had an amazing time! I knew it would be busy but we didn’t have to wait long at all for our table, but it did give us just enough time to grab a cocktail at the bar. The list was long and had lots of unique options. We were seated on the first floor dining area which was very well decorated. There was plenty of space between the tables and definitely didn’t feel cramped. The menu had so many fantastic options but we decided to split the meatballs, grilled cheese dumplings, spaghettini and the burger. All were fantastic but the burger and the grilled cheese dumplings stood out. The waiter was very nice and made sure we ordered properly and even asked about food allergies and dislikes. The food service was also very quick turnaround for how busy the restaurant was. For dessert they brought out complimentary cake pops with icing written out saying happy birthday. But we could t pass on the pecan butterscotch blondie dessert which was awesome! We then went upstairs to where the feeling was more like a lounge/club with a dj and danced. The night was perfect and we were both extremely thrilled. And I have to say I don’t feel like it was overpriced as the portions were generous, the quality was great, and the ambience and experience were awesome! We both had a great night.
Awesome experience, staff was fun and personable, and food was great (small portions though). Definitely worth going for the experience! Dimmed lights with candle lit atmosphere in the evening with a great vibe, playing great music in the background. Highly recommend for someone looking for a more fun dinner, yet maintains the intimate feeling of a date💯👌🏻 and definitely try their grilled cheese dumplings... so. good.
One best places to visit in NYC, took my beautiful girlfriend to Beauty & Essex for valentines day. We had a amazing dinner with tasty drinks & the service was superb. Would definitely tell all the fellas out there definitely a great place to take your significant other to have a great time with good music playing.
Went here for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend and I was very impressed. Exceeded my expectations. The price fixed menu was a great deal for 2 ($125) and every course was delicious.
My only criticism is the chocolate fondue for desert was weak- poor presentation and taste did not measure up to the rest of the meal.
I still give them an A+
Popped in for a "quick bite" on Valentine's Day but they had an amazing tasting menu available - $125/2 ppl for 7 courses so we had to take advantage of such a great deal.
We arrived almost 45 mins late & I was so worried we wouldn't be seated but the whole staff was very accommodating. My boyfriend explained the general flavors of cocktail he wanted to our server (gin, ginger, not too sweet) & they delivered the perfect concoction. Soon after we ordered our drinks I saw that a cozy corner booth had opened up & our server happily moved us to a more "romantic" table. We also informed our server that we were on a tight schedule so he made sure that all of our courses moved through quickly with no delay.
Delicious food, superior service, great ambiance, wasn't overly loud - couldn't have asked for a better date night!
Overall, very disappointing. We ordered one of their specialty cocktails and an Aviation, a classic cocktail. They did not know how to make an Avaition, or did not want to take the time to do so. Ordered a glass of Rose Proseco. It came out as regular Proseco. Was told that it was a Rose, but it was not. Waitress then came back with a glass of Rose and apologized, however it was not cold. In both of these drink issues, the server handled it very well. The Thai shrimp was flavorless and the $65 ribeye was not hot and lacked seasoning. Apparently our server's shift ended as we never saw her again after the entree came out. She did not inform us anyone else would be taking over. Also, it is a very loud restaurant and the tables are very close together. Not a great value or experience for the money.
We went for Sunday brunch. I had been at the Las Vegas B&E in December for dinner and enjoyed the food. Decided to take my husband and son for brunch while visiting NYC. Everything I had was great but my husband was not thrilled with the pork belly BLT. Grits were amazing and it was an afterthought to order them. Looking forward to going back another time.
I have been a frequent customer. I frequent the restaurant every month with clients when I’m in town. My past visit was very disappointing. The menu has changed and wasn’t as good. The customer service was poor with me routinely haven’t to get our waiter to get service. I made reservations asi always do but was disappointed that I still ended up waiting nearly 30 mins post reservation. When finally sat it was not the sitting I had requested in advance (2weeks prior). The drinks were good so no problem there. Overall the experience was sub-par at best.
As a group of 55+ celebrating our friend’s 60th birthday, we were all pleasantly surprised. They honored our reservation as well as giving us a round table in a great location. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The ambiance and the food were perfect.
We had a fabulous time. Most importantly, the birthday girl had a blast!!
We arrived half hour early to our reservation, so we order couple drinks at the bar. I have to say the drinks were absolutely horrible, extremely sweet and not well balanced at all. The bartender was making few drinks at the same time, she was very busy but for $18 drink was NOT worth it.
The food was good very tasty we had the Chile relleno empanadas, the famous grilled cheese tomato soup, and the salmon. The service was very nice attentive but not overwhelming.
Good experiment overall!
