About Beauty & Essex- New York
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.
The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.
The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

Beauty & Essex- New York Ratings and Reviews
The atmosphere and service were excellent in the restaurant!
The manager offered us complementary desserts because they were late to serve our entrees, which was a nice gesture. However, the hostess and the staff at the front weren’t as professional or nice, and the food was average.
The attitude needs to change. This is a special place but they make your experience mediocre with the attitude. It's unfortunate. Tone down the ego and work more on making your guests feel special and delighted to be there. I don't need to spend that money to feel insignificant.
I had another amazing dinner here. I’ve been coming since the restaurant opened years ago and it’s always great. Loved the crab Rangoon’s, tuna tacos and grilled cheese dumplings. Love this spot for dinner or after work cocktails. The champagne in the bathroom is a bonus!
I booked here for my wife’s 30th birthday whilst visiting NYC and it didn’t disappoint.
I’d definitely recommend booking and making a reservation and as it was absolutely packed when we left and we started early (6.45).
Great service and delicious food, we didn’t do the tapas style approach (the wife is a bit fussy when it comes to trying different things) so we went straight to main. The fillet was great! The team even noticed why I’d made the reservation and brought out a cupcake for my wife’s birthday which was a nice touch.
Would revisit if ever in NYC again or anywhere else with a beauty and Essex on offer!
As always the food was amazing and did not disappoint. But our service was horrible! Our waitress was rude, slow and never checked on our table. It was the first time with such poor service. We wanted more drinks, more food and dessert but she cane so infrequently that we never ordered more.
We arrived half an hour late due to New York traffic and called ahead so they knew. This did not cause any issues and we were seated 15 minutes after arriving. Our service was faultless, the waitress could not have been more helpful. The food was outstanding and good portion sizes for the money. Really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely recommend.
This was one of the highlights of our trip. The traffic was horrendous and we called the restaurant to let them know we would be 30 late. They accommodated us with no problem. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The service, drinks and food were off the charts during our visit. We tried 7 different items and 3 different desserts. They were all so delicious that we couldn't pick a favorite.
Really unusual place. From the outside, it's a pawn shop but on the inside, a speakeasy-type entrance takes you into the main restaurant. Decor is an eclectic and fun variety of styles. Service and food were very good, as was ambiance. I'm looking forward to going back.
Made reservations on Open Table for Beauty & Essex, noted as an anniversary dinner. This restaurant was highly recommended from a friend (NYC local). The ambiance at this restaurant alone takes your breath away. From the street, this location looks like a divey pawn shop. However, through the 2nd door you will find a beautiful classy dining venue, spiral grand staircase, and chandlers. We received complimentary champagne for the occasion and soups from the chef. The food here is delicious and won’t dissapoint. I’m 24 my boyfriend is 31 - we loved the music here. I’d like to especially highlight the service. Our waiter went above and beyond. We received a complimentary shrimp appetizer plate because our side dish of potatoes came out before our meal. We additionally received an additional side dish of potatoes when our meals arrived. My boyfriend and I were blown away with how attentive and accommodating the server was to our dinner. Will definitely return to Beauty & Essex next time we are in NYC for Sunday brunch.
