About Beauty & Essex- New York
From the team behind The Stanton Social comes Beauty & Essex, a grand 10,000 square foot restaurant, bar, & lounge in the heart of the lower east side.
The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.
The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

Beauty & Essex- New York Ratings and Reviews
Dinner at Beauty and Essex was a night to remember. Amazing space, great food and cocktails. We loved everything we ordered except the Cesar salad which tasted and looked and felt like from the school canteen back in the communist era in Czechoslovakia. We just LOVED the kale salad though :)
Beauty & Essex was great about changing our reservation to accommodate two more diners. We were in a cozy booth and actually able to have a conversation, because of a reasonable level of noise. We were there for lunch, though, so perhaps the vibe at dinner was more of a club atmosphere. The small plates were delicious (the best avocado toast in captivity) and whomever thought up grilled cheese dumplings was a genius. Great food and ambiance. I wanna go back.....NOW.
the location was not bad. if you drive, there is parking lot not too far. once you arrive the pawn shop is exactly as described in front. someone will have to tell you there is a restaurant in there for you to know. i must say once you enter the door at back, the staff is pleasant and helpful. the ambience is superb. the wait was not bad as we had a reservation. the decor was nice. the menu had good options. i loved the bbq fries and a few other items. i will definitely go back and recommend here to others. great experience!
We arrived at Beauty and Essex for Saturday Brunch and were quite surprised as you enter thru the doors it is a beautiful setting. The ambiance is nice and the food just spectacular. Our waiter Javier was very nice and although we were 7 and ordered different dishes (meant for sharing) we did not get 2 of our dishes service was slow it took my friend about 20 minutes to get a Bloody Mary. With that being said the place was packed maybe that is why the service was slow but we would definitely return. Price was average we were 7 and with food and 2 bottles of champagne bill was about $507.00 without tip. Would def recommend Beauty and Essex !
We arrived on time for our 11:00 pm reservation and had to wait 45 min for our table. The ladies restroom was gross, hot, dark and disgusting. We couldn’t even get close to the bar for drinks while we waited. I️ received an email that we were a no show....I️ wish!!
Over crowded & loud. Reservation was for 9.45 we were seated at our table at 10.30. 1 main dish was sent back to be cooked some more & they attempted to charge for this twice. A lot of confusion with bill. Would not return. Disappointed as had heard great things
Hate to post how great this place is only to bring further attention to it and make it that much more challenging to get a table.... such a fun ambiance from the moment you open the front door. A real eclectic mix of people and dress. Food was very good, but isn’t a Michelin quality by any means. Such a great, fun spot!
The food and the cocktails were absolutely amazing. The service and the crowd were horrendous! Most likely, never returning. Our server took our order and never returned to the table. We waiting 30 min for the cocktails, the server never came to ask how are food was or if we needed anything. We were here for 2.5 hours (mostly waiting) and were only able to order 1 cocktail each! That was so disappointing considering how delicious they were. The runner brought out my friends personal cake which I requested in advance. The server never came to ask if anyone else wanted dessert or coffee. We finally grabbed a bus boy and asked for coffee, after 20 min he brought coffee for 3 of the 6 of us and we had to ask again for coffee for the remainder of our group. The couple sitting next to us commented "unfucking believable" and rolled their eyes when we sang happy birthday. A woman who was sitting on my friends blazer got nasty with me when I asked if she could pass me the blazer she was sitting on. Several men blatantly pushed us to get out of their way when we were standing near the host area waiting for our table. The hostess were rude and dismissive. The sense of entitlement in this place is insane! Even if I wasn't a restaurant manger myself (which gives you higher expectations when eating out) I would probably consider this one of the worst dining experiences I've ever encountered. Complete shame that I hosted my best friends 30th birthday celebration here.
