Beauty & Essex- New York
The atmosphere of the space is both grand and intimate, moody and effervescent. Various rooms for lounging and dining unfold on two floors, like a large turn-of-the-century townhouse. Each room has its own unique elements that celebrate timeless jewelry designs and upscale jewelry stores.
The cuisine is multi-ethnic in inspiration, casually elegant, and designed for sharing at the table among friends and family. Where the Stanton Social"s menu is Chef Chris Santos' take on cocktail party classics and street foods from across the globe, Beauty & Essex is rooted in a bold bistro direction focusing on the reinvention of modern family style dining that is both whimsical and sophisticated.

We had a great experience. Our table was ready right on time, was prompt, as were the drinks and food. I’m giving our server three stars, more because of his lack of interest? He was prompt !! But didn’t seem to want to be there? Korean tacos, fish tacos, sashimi were all delicious. Only the mac & cheese was lackluster. Overall, we loved it and we will be back. Thanks for a great night.
I’ve been there for brunch parties never for dinner. It was phenomenal. My girlfriend loved everything about it. Hands down amazing experience for an amazingly great price.
Super ambiance, bel endroit décoration soignée , super musique.
Can't wait to go back next time we visit the city!! Food excellent, service excellent can't say enough about it, one of the best places we have dined and we travel all over the world!!
Great food, great experience
We came for my friend’s birthday and he was given a birthday cupcake! Great service and nice ambience.
They do offer free champagne in the ladies bathroom so don’t forget to bring your ID.
This was an hours long experience. Nice if you’re not in a hurry but food did take at least an hour to come out.
I’ve been to this restaurant many times for dinner, and love it. This was my first brunch experience. Other than the awful trashy crowd, the food took forever to arrive, and the restaurant was absolutely atrocious about accommodating my Mom’s garlic and onion allergy. I had to ask 3 times for her to get a plain avocado because their prepared avocado has garlic added to it. Absolutely atrocious and I’ll never go back
Such a fun NYC experience.
Everything was fine except the short rib Mac & cheese
My favorite restaurant in New York City! The food never disappoints and the vibe is awesome to have dinner with your friends before heading out to party. Everything we ordered was delicious and I didn't want the food to stop coming. DO NOT skip out on the grilled cheese dumplings! Will definitely be back every time I'm in New York.
Such a cool place! Great drinks & food!
We loved this resturant! Great vibe and the food is amazing. But even with a reservation we had a 45 minute wait. The service was nice and helpful. Just expect it to be busy and loud! Overall we loved it!!
Funky vibe and fabulous food! Wait staff knowledgeable and extremely helpful. An absolute must!
Even though the food was good and the ambience was good the fact that they couldn’t use foreign credit cards or direct debit cards killed the whole entire experience. It was very inconvenient and one of the manager on duty was very unhelpful and so not customer focused. When someone comes there especially from a different country they need to be much more customer focused do something to please the customer especially when such an inconvenience Waz had.
Amazing place, just the wait for a pre booked table.
We had a reservation for Saturday night at 8pm and when we walked in, the place was PACKED. Surprisingly, we only had to wait 10 minutes and were seated right away!! The meal was great, everyone enjoyed their dishes and drinks. I had the lamb chops and that was the delicious, juicy, and tender. We also ordered a dessert wheel and that was really cool, fun for everyone; desserts were delightful.
The service has gone down hill. Not impressed. Noise level high definitely cater to big groups. If you’re not a big group you will get overlooked
Wife and I were celebrating 23 years of marriage.
So fun with a fabulous brunch menu
Delicious, shareable menu! Always fun to enjoy with family and close friends. A favorite brunch when in NYC.
Amazing atmosphere and great food. When we turned up we had to wait some time for our table despite having a reservation but having said that, this seems to be the norm in New York versus London. Despite the wait, the staff were really friendly and efficient so overall the wait for our table reservation wasn’t too much of a hardship.
Always a wonderful experience. The service, ambiance and food won’t disappoint!
Great experience amazing food wonderful service would highly recommend
Might be the best meal we have ever had! Very trendy and hip... but don’t let that deter you if you are in your 40s and maybe less “hipster.”
Service was impeccable. We had a group of six and we ordered 9 different plates plus dessert plus wine. Amazing all the way around. A few of our faves... fish tacos, mac and cheese with short rib, sweet potato ravioli, and the spoon of tomato soup/grilled cheese. Oh - and the empanadas and shrimp too. Can you tell we loved everything!
It’s a big price tag but it’s worth it (our group total was about $700). It’s a wonderful must do experience and splurge.
First time visit. Loved everything about this restaurant. We will definitely return and recomend it to friends.
It was very loud. Too loud to hear ourselves.
Excellent place to go. Really funky with excellent service. Only problem was that it was a bit loud and too dark to read the menu!
it was a wonderful wonderful experience. The food was absolutely amazing, the best I've had in New York City in years! The tuna tartare, the tomato soup with roasted cheese, the salmon, the kale and apple salad, and the ferris wheel dessert was so much fun. It isn't cheap, $150 for two people, but the combination of location ambience and food made it our best experience in New York city so far!
My husband and I had a wonderful time. From the time we entered in the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our server recommended for dining 4-5 plates to share. I would absolutely recommend the roasted bone marrow which is served with toasted bread and marmalade. Right combination of sweet and savory. We also had the grilled double cut lamb chops that were delicious. Also sampled were the grilled cheese smoked bacon & tomato soup dumplings and crispy fish tacos. There was always staff around to ask if we needed anything and refill our water. I felt the prices were reasonable that were comparable to amount food given for each plate. My husband and I will most certainly return to try the other menu items.
Fab! Love this restaurant and bar!
What an amazing experience! The ambience is so cool, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious! I used OpenTable to tell the restaurant it was my parents 40th wedding anniversary and they brought champagne and a cupcake. It was so sweet!! I would highly recommend Essex & Beauty!
We went for my husband’s birthday and it was a wonderful experience. The decor was unique and beautiful. The food was top notch NYC dining. And we had friendly service. A+
My son ran the NYC marathon
Great food and wonderful atmosphere!
Food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the grilled cheese, tomato soup dumplings for brunch.
It was great, beautiful as usual and amazing food. The only issue was the smell at the entrance and upstairs, like a bathroom smell. Quite surprising in this type of places...
I had a great birthday dinner and will definitely go back. Everything was exceptional
Loved the experience! Food, ambiance, service was great and staff were so nice!!!
We have been to Beauty & Essex a few times, but the last time was a bit disappointing. We were seated upstairs and it was a very different (disappointing) experience. The upstairs room is much louder, very crowded and had none of the ambiance of seating downstairs. We will not be going back unless seated downstairs.
