Beauty & Essex - LA

Very nice time. The food was great & the restaurant overall was beautiful.
Just dined here for my wedding anniversary and had the best experience! When I made the reservation online it asked for the occasion and I answered wondering if they would even use that info. Well, they completely exceeded our expectations. Mario, our server, acknowledged it and gave us great dinner recommendations - try the rib-eye, grilled cheese dumplings, kale & apple salad, and the banh-mi sliders! Then RC, the manager, stop by the table to check on us and wish us well. RC and Mario were just the best! RC even treated us to the Wonder Wheel from the dessert menu. We had a wonderful meal and experience. Definitely going back.
We went there before the Pantages. Food was delicious, service was great, wish we had more time. Will definitely go back.
Good service and food and ambience
It was great.
Beauty and Essex is more than a just a nice restaurant to go have dinner! It is a major dining experience! From the beautifully lighted alley-vintage pawn shop entrance, to the glamorous staircase and chandelier as you make your way into this well hidden gem! The variety of dining room settings are amazing! The service is top notch! While you feel underdressed in "dressy casual" you really are not... The servers look nice but definitely not formal which makes for a more relaxed feel. The menu options are quite extensive and it is family style so you order to share everything. We loved everything that touched our lips from the drinks to every bite of food! Highly recommend their signature items GRILLED CHEESE, SMOKED BACON & TOMATO SOUP DUMPLINGS! We also loved from the raw bar, the little neck clams OH SO YUMMY! (Be sure to order 1 doz) Also, the crispy thai style shrimp, and the MEXICAN STREET CORN RAVIOLI with roasted poblano crema, jalapeño, cotija, cilantro is the bomb! We also loved the GRILLED DOUBLE CUT LAMB CHOP
creamy polenta, port wine glaze! Recommend medium well (my husband loves rare and we had to send it back to be cooked a little more) tasted much better! A must try located in the heart of Hollywood! Plan to spend a lot! But worth every penny!
Come here everytime we are in town and it NEVER disappoints. Every dish is absolutely delicious.
Wonderful five star service great waiter with excellent recommendations thank you very much for a nice dinner
The service and the food were fantastic. If you are looking for a fantastic restaurant prior to going to the Pantages, then we strongly recommend Beauty and Essex. Our waitress, Sarah was extremely good and very attentive to our needs. We started with the tuna poke tacos and then had the Kale and apple salad both of which were excellent. Next we had teh Grilled Cheese, smoked bacon & tomato soup dumplings and you should lick the spoon as it is so good. The Mexican street corn ravioli is really awesome and we finished with the broccolini and Filet. I don't know where they get the broccolini but it is out of this world and the Filet was cooked to perfection. We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough for the service and foo.
This place is absolutely beautiful. My friends and I came here for a birthday dinner and I fell in love from the moment I walked in there. I made reservations and there wasn't a long wait to be seated. Our waiter was so super friendly and nice and the food was amazing. I will definitely be going back for the food, drinks and the great service all around. :)
Beauty & Essex is everything you’d expect from a trendy restaurant in Hollywood. It’s expensive but so worth it. Food and service was outstanding.
Elegant sophisticated setting. The food is structured to be shared and comes as 'small plates'. Everything ordered was very good, and comes out of the kitchen quickly. Service is detached in demeanor, though efficient. Ok to try once, though I don't think would return again.
Terrific service! We loved the grilled cheese dumplings, burrata and beets, amd green beans.
The food was amazing, great decor. I will definitely be back.
Food was perfect
Good wine list.
What a disappointment. The food was average - the mushroom entree was a hot mess and the steaks were heavily salted - the banquette we were in was torn, and it’s ridiculously overpriced for what they’re offering. I’ve been before and it was good but it’s been a while. Sad to see it’s gone downhill and I won’t be returning.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience, great food and were considerate of timeline needed to get served so as to make it to the theatre.
Great service and good!
One of my favorite restaurants in Hollywood. Great food, and surprisingly good service. Love the upstairs bar area and the dining room is lively and fun!
They were incredibly rude and ruined a special occasion for me. Stay away
Server was not friendly. Didn’t come back to check on us at all. When we called her she seemed to have an unpleasant attitude. Will go back for the excelled food but they need to work on their customer service
Celebrated a friends birthday here, very expensive but worth it. She loved the ambiance and the food was delicious.
This place is absolutely amazing! I enjoyed myself at B&E and the service was beyond expectations. The food was flavorful, everyone I was greeted by name and I can’t tell you how amazing it is. You have to come visit and experience it for yourself. I love the music, ambiance, drinks, food, location, etc. Thank you Brian, RC, Daniel and Jose for the amazing experience!
Stunning restaurant, delicious food, impeccable servers- what more can you ask for? We had the Grilled Cheese Tomato Soup Dumplings, French Dip toast, Roasted Chicken and Scallops. Everything was incredible. I have eaten at the Las Vegas location as well and had the same perfect experience with the food. This is going to be a regular spot for me! Oh and the ladies room? It's a must see :)
My wife and I LOVED our anniversary dinner at B&E....hands down one of the best places to eat and celebrate special moments....shout out to our server ‘Jordan’ cuz he was awesome!
Food and services excellent!
Food and service was exceptional. The service and food in New York and Las Vegas are quite the same I frequented those to locations as well. Beauty and Essex is a very swanky hot spot with great , unique good food and appetizers. I took by boyfriend for his birthday it was his first time he really enjoyed the food and ambiance he had not stop talking about it . He called it a sexy restaurant!
I visited this place for bachelor party festivities and we had a great time. The waiters were extremely knowledgeable of the menu, friendly and very service oriented. I will be revisiting this location on my next visit to LA!
Thank you for a great time!
OMG! This place is awesome. We reserved a table for a special occasion and the whole staff went above and beyond to make our evening special. Not to mention the food, which was fabulous.
Heard a lot about this place so my boyfriend and I decided to try it out for a date night...we had an AMAZING time! The ambiance is stunning, the main dining room is beautiful. We got sat at a cute booth, perfect for our date night. I ordered the Beauty Elixir to start, super yummy exactly what I wanted (and has a good amount of alcohol content). If you come here you must try the Tuna Poke Tacos, the Avocado Slider (really good! You wouldn’t expect it) and the Grilled Cheese Dumplings. All 5 star
dishes. Must say however the Spaghetinni we didn’t like, it was acidic and the egg yolk wasn’t runny enough. Also shout out to the host stand, very professional and gave us a great table (thank you!). Ended the night with the Devils Layer Cake...PHENOMENAL! Thanks for a great evening, will be returning!
The food was better than ever tonight. Shrimp appetizer was incredibly flavorful and the entrees were all delicious. Donuts for dessert!!
Great restaurant on everything little pricy ; but as we all know is in Hollywood.
The food was incredible but the ambience was even more outstanding!
Had the best time. Food was great and the bar we waited in was nicely decorated. Service was attentive
We had been before and had a great experience. This time we checked in and told the hostess we only had two in the reservation instead of 4. They told us they would call us and we went to have a drink that was good but sooo overpriced for the size. We followed up with the hostess who then tried to sit us outside which we advised was not ok as we had a reservation at 6:15 and it was now nearly 7. We were finally sat at a table in the dining room and had a nice waitress but the food wasn’t that good for the expectations of our previous visit or the prices. The dumplings were lukewarm and spilled all over the plate and the rest was greasy and seemed like frozen food reheated. A year ago the quality was better. In the ladies room a girl was lazily setting up champagne glasses that had been sitting in a busboy bin then started to pour only a small sip into each glass. In Vegas and in LA last summer they poured a full glass. This seems very cheap and frankly if they can’t afford it stop doing this because it is embarrassing for the restaurant. The dessert was good. Crowd was kind of off, saw people in sweatshirts and jeans and walk ins. It’s sad how far downhill it has fallen and we won’t be back. Overpriced for the food quality and drinks served in small glasses that are all ice. Much hotter places to go in LA worth our money.
We love it there. We went for our 3 year anniversary
My wife and I went here before going to the Pantages Theater for a play. It was within walking distance which was great but what made even better was that we arrived 20 minutes late for our reservation and they still took us in within 10 minutes. The ambiance was outstanding and the food was incredibly delicious. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend it and will definitely return!.
Went for Valentines day and it was packed yet so awesome! volume was loud due to laughter & music but not interrupting. definitely going again! super classy place and awesome service!
Food was decent, service was really bad though. Our server would disappear for over 20 minutes at a time, and not because it was super busy. When we told him we were going to start with the dessert wheel for now, he asked "thats it?!" And gave a weird face and walked away. I would see him, try to call him and he wouldn't even look our way. Ambience was nice, but alone would not make it a good enough reason to go back.
