Beauty & Essex- Las Vegas Ratings and Reviews
We came to Las Vegas on a spontaneous day trip and we were looking to have dinner. Beauty & Essex is open late so we figured we give it a try and I’m so glad we did. I made a reservation for 9:30pm for 2 through OpenTable. Walking into the restaurant, you go through a store first. They have someone outside opening the door for customers, which was nice. We got seated promptly upon checking in. We had a great server and was very attentive of us. Food was delicious. We ordered the Thai chicken lettuce cups, chicken meatballs, and a 10oz filet. Beauty & Essex serves plates that are meant to be shared. So you can order a couple things and everyone can share. The food was so good though. The meat was perfectly cooked as we ordered it medium. The chicken meatballs were so juicy and full of flavor, and the lettuce wraps were really good as well. Overall, it was a great experience. We ordered a few cocktails and ended with their donuts for dessert. I would definitely recommend it if you’ve been considering to dine with Beauty & Essex.
Our waitress was awesome (didn't get her name, but had a sweet sleeve tattoo). She gave great recommendations and the drinks and food were spot on. She even gave us a good post dinner destination for good views and drinks. It was close to our anniversary and we got cute cake pops which were the perfect topper to a fantastic meal. Go there. Go there now.
Unfortunately it was just too loud. I live in Vegas and have eaten at most places on the strip with great reputations. The food was solid and very good. Wine list is respectable. Avoid the cocktails, not very good. No one liked what they ordered, lots of ice and too sweet. The noise level was ridiculous. You can't have a conversation across the table. I will never return due to this.
Had been to the one in NYC years ago and loved it but was a little skeptical of a Vegas rendition. Food was incredible (we are foodies too!) and service great. Only con was noise level almost made it impossible to talk. Luckily we were against a wall or we would’ve needed sign language! Would be great for girls night or other party time but not so great for an intimate date.
Food was outstanding. Unfortunately our experience was dampened by our waiter who was very rude. We were initially greeted by a different waiter who was great - gave drink and app recommendations, friendly, prompt, etc. After our drink orders were taken by the first waiter, another waiter showed up and already seemed to have an attitude about the other waiter greeting us. We always seemed to be waiting for him to come back to order food, he answered questions in a condescending way and at the end of the meal dropped off one check without asking our preference on separate checks vs one bill. When we requested separate checks for the 4 couples he was very inconvenienced. Bummer because the experience was great aside from the waiter.
Definitely nothing special. It's incredibly loud. I mean loud to the point that you can't even hear the people at your table. The seating is awkward and there are no restrooms inside the restaurant. Instead you have to walk into the hotel area and use the restroom. Super inconvenient.
We were not impressed by our dinner experience. Spent three days in Vegas and this was by far our worst meal. Service was average. We started with the Brussel Sprout salad and that was the only dish we liked. I ordered salmon and I should have known better when the server didn’t ask what temperature I wanted it cooked. It was over cooked dry and ended up sending it back. I tried the scallops instead and we kept them but the sauce and veggie on top of scallops was an odd combination that didn’t work. I walked away trying to get the fishy taste out of my mouth. Never a good thing. My husband ordered meatballs and carrots. Carrots had a strange coating yes coating and were still hard. The meatballs were fine. Too much bread to meat ratio for me but my husband said they were OK. Skip this one. There are four or five other restaurants next to this one...go elsewhere.
Overall we were very pleased with our selections and choice to dine at Beauty and Essex during our last stay in Las Vegas! Dimly lit but a vibrant place! Love the sharable plate concept and the service was fantanstic! Only suggestion would be to avoid if you would like to have more of a conversational dining experience. It is very loud but we enjoyed the energy!
DISSATISFIED-My fiancé and I made reservations to celebrate our birthdays. Listed birthday celebration on open table and confirmed with hostess when seated. Couple at next table was asked by waiter “what the occasion?” And they said celebrating a birthday, waiter was very accommodating to them. We assumed waiter already knew our occasion since it was confirmed twice. Dinner ended no acknowledgement, just a dissatisfied feeling especially after watching the next couple over celebrate. Unreal.
Was slightly disappointed in this place. The main issue was the food and drinks - all overseasoned (too salty, too sweet, too fatty, etc). Our steak which we ordered medium rare was cooked correctly but was cold upon arrival at the table. I guess they cooked it too early and left it under the lamp. We complained and their solution was to broil the steak, making it overdone but at least warm.
Service was excellent - very attentive, the manager dropped by twice when we sent the steak back. Gave us free dessert to make up for it.
Also the dining area is VERY, VERY loud.
Would recommend for big parties of 20-year olds ready to have a good time.
Food = 10. Waiter = 1 For one thing great entrance to this fun find. It is a very loud atmosphere and very energetic. The food was amazing but I cannot say the same about our server. It is a shared plate type menu which we really enjoy, our server recommended 5 to 7 dishes for 2 people. We ordered 4 and could not eat all of it. We had the Tuna Poke Wonton Tacos, Thai Style Deep Fried Shrimp, Onion Rings and Double Barrel Pork Chop - every bite was amazing. Time to order wine, we told the server what we wanted he suggested to my husband that he try something other than what he ordered which of course was much more expensive. Once he realized that we had a mind of our own he pretty much disappeared. We had to ask someone else to please ask him for the check. I would give this restaurant another chance and hope that all the servers are not like the young man that waited on us. For the first time in 37 years my husband literally wrote a note on the check calling him out on it. Once again he disappeared.
