Beatrix is a neighborhood coffeehouse, restaurant and meeting place in Chicago’s River North, Streeterville, Fulton Market and Oak Brook neighborhoods. The restaurant is the brainchild of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises’ Founder Rich Melman, Executive Partner and Divisional President Marc Jacobs and Chef Partners John Chiakulas, Rita Dever and Susan Weaver. The menu features healthy meets delicious options, and is known for its iconic coffee and bakery counter, including signature cookies, in-house pastry favorites and our house blends from Beatrix Coffee Roasters, featuring Light, Dark, Espresso and Decaf roasts.

The food was excellent and service awesome. Where were were seated, the tables were a little close together and they were all filled while there was a large part of the restaurant where no tables were filled. The dining experience would have been a little more comfortable and less noisy if the customers were spread out.

I usually love Beatrix. Granted, it was a Sunday morning so the traffic in the restaurant is to be expected. I chose this spot for my birthday brunch. My table received all their food but I still waited about 5-10 min after that until my plate came. Their food then became cold. I was not happy with my order at all but my friends enjoyed their food! 3/5 I guess.

It was our first time dining at this restaurant. The staff was friendly. We were greeted warmly at the front hostess desk. The table chosen for us was in the middle and was comfortable and quiet. Realizing, we were one of last reservations, our server did a great job as she was probably tired from a busy Saturday shift. Food was good. Chardonnay was ok, definitely not my favorite and only one offered. We had whipped feta, which was excellent. Corn tacos and mushroom bowl, both fantastic as well! The passion fruit cheesecake was much too sweet for our liking. The flavor was great, just overall too sweet and we could not finish it. The presentation of all food was superior.

I’ve dined here for years and usually the service is outstanding. This time the waiter wasn’t as attentive. My waffles were cold.

This is a typical large mall restaurant. Uninspiring, cold decor in the back room where they seat families with small children. Although the room was over half empty, open table said they had no room for a table of 5. We were coming from a family outing at a children’s museum, and while dressed completely appropriately for the place, were treated disdainfully by the arrogant young hostesses. I think they took some pleasure in thinking they had given us the worst table in the restaurant. Fortunately for us, my granddaughter is a bright and curious child who enjoyed watching the kitchen staff prepare the food through the plexiglass window. Personally, i find the food aselection a little limited and dull, and the drinks pricey, but my son and daughter enjoy it, especially the gluten free options. Was surprised to hear that i could not get a steak kabob cooked to medium. But only medium rare. Very odd, since i assumed they were cooking the meal to order. We have eaten there at least once before, and were seated in the same room, so i assume they have a policy of seating families away from the other diners. Unless my family requests dining here, i won’t be back.
