Beatrix - Fulton Market
Beatrix is open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.
The beverage program features fresh-squeezed juice cocktails, local craft beers, and all-American wines. The coffee bar showcases iconic Chicago roasters, Intelligentsia and Metric Coffee, and offers daily pour-over specials, Bulletproof coffee, and Nitro coffee, and an array of cookies and pastries from the in-house bakery
The hostess (very long dark hair, shorter, Latina) was incredibly rude and snarky. I love Beatrix very much, and I have always had a fantastic experience each time I visit; however this hostess was terrible... there were many annoying and rude things she did, but the most annoying was when she took us to our table, which was a tight fit amongst the other tables, and my family and I asked for her to just go ahead and give us the menus so that we could settle ourselves in without feeling rushed with her waiting by our sides holding the menus. She said no and continued to hold the menus. I asked again very politely to please give us the menus so that we could settle at our own pace. She refused, rolled her eyes and said she would wait. It was very rude. Clearly this person lacked emotional intelligence.
Consistently good brunch food and ambiance
Only issue I had was that there wasn’t a host present when I arrived - so I ended up waiting about 10 minutes before I was able to confirm my reservation. I thought that was a little weird.
Delicious food and atmosphere.
Food was amazing as always. My chimichurri steak was a tiny bit over cooked on one side but mostly cooked well throughout the rest.
Waitress failed to give my friend her change back even though I told her to split the bill three ways and that there was extra cash and we wanted the change back (two credit cards and one cash payment). I had to ask her a second time to bring the change back. Essentially, if we hadn’t noticed she would have stolen or overcharged the extra cash. She should have paid attention to the details. It wasn’t ok to not bring the cash back from the get go. I was clear upfront.
Great gluten free menu (lots of good breakfast options and GF pastries) and great service. Our server was readily available with coffee and water refills. Overall, one of my fave brunch spots!!
I have been here with my boyfriend 2 times and loved it those times. We came for my birthday on 1/11 and had a reservation through Open table. There is a section which indicates if you are celebrating an event and I clicked “birthday”. Sometimes if a restaurant is well put together, they do pay attention to these special events. Beatrix did not whatsoever, not a biggie but I guess it is my pet peeve when you ask for these things and then don’t pay attention.
Our visit this time was just as similar as something you would receive at TGIF or Applebee’s. Waitress came up and right away asked if we want to have drinks or appetizers. Not even a hello or anything, zero personality. For a place on west loop, the staff should be a little more upscale. Then we ordered drinks and I was about to say “and also hummus” but she just sprinted away. Then took forever to get drinks and she brought me warm champagne. Yuck. I didn’t ask her for new one because it would take a long time to get the new glass.
We ordered steak chimicchuri which was cold and had to ask them to warm it up. Not even a sorry. The steak was also very chewy. We wanted to get desert as well but all their options were caramel, pumpkin, and pecan sweets. Not a fan. No diversity when it came to sweets.
Anyway, it will be a while to come back here again. Last dinner was so unimpressive.
The food we ordered had a lot of hot spices that weren't mentioned in the written menu description. Please be aware that some people have sensitivity to hot peppers and spices. These sensitivities aren't as drastic as nut and gluten allergies, but make food enjoyment difficult. Please make sure to note on menu (a hot pepper symbol) or make sure waitstaff informs customers.
I must mention that I think the foods we ordered would have been tasty without the hotness. All the plates were tasty and interesting. Our waitress was wonderful and the restaurant was just perfect for us to visit and chat over our meal. We will be back.
This restaurant is good. I would describe the cuisine as American comfort with flair. Reasonable prices, friendly service even in the crowded dining room. The neighborhood is very busy and trendy, which makes parking difficult and the valet inevitable. Unfortunately valet parking is $16, which I would say is a rip-off but what can you do?
Service and food was great!
The avocado toast was absolutely delicious! I just wish that the ingredients were on the menu because I don’t like jalapeños. Other than that I LOVED IT
My favorite favorite favorite favorite brunch place!
Pretty great, except the service, which was poor. Waitress was in the area plenty, but couldn't bother to stop by or even look at us. Went with an empty coffee cup for most of my breakfast, with no hot sauce or jelly either. Really detracted from an otherwise very nice experience.
Nice menu for breakfast and brunch with plenty of healthful selections
Always great food and a good experience. The service is swell and top-notch. Wonderful for Sunday brunch.
Great food and service but we had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation for a table.
I made a reservation for 2 people at 8:00pm. We arrived at 7:55pm and proceed to check-in. The hostess informed us that there would be a 15 minute wait on reservations and we can sit at one of the bars and wait to receive a text. Initially I didn’t have a problem with waiting because I expected the restaurant to be busy on NYE. There was a couple (a white women and man) who came in after us that stated they had a reservation at 8 and the hostess quickly sat them at a “high top” table near the bar. I tried to assume the best and thought, maybe she didn’t seat us because she waiting for a table in the center area. Around 8:10 I received a text stating my table was ready. We proceeded to the front of the restaurant where another white couple came in and said they had a reservation at 8pm. It is now, 8:10 so they are technically late for their reservation and it happened again - The couple was seated right away. 2 mins later the hostess sat us at a high top table near the bar. Now, I was not assuming the best because it seemed as if we were not receiving the same treatment as the White people in the restaurant. One of the managers “Katherine” came by our table to give us water and made the situation worst. She was definitely not trying to hear what I was calmly saying, which is that the restaurant need to train their staff in DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion) everyone should feel welcomed in the space. As a black woman in this space, I felt extremely uncomfortable. I felt so uncomfortable in the restaurant to the point where I wanted to get up and leave. We picked Beatrix because we don’t eat meat and noticed that the restaurant had a variety of vegan/vegetarian options - which I thought was amazing! Shortly after our waitress came by to take our drink order, we order drinks and a appetizer. We watch both table next to us order their food after we ordered our appetizer and received their food before we did. When the appetizer came to the table it was cold!
Everything was exceptional. Food, service, atmosphere & neighborhood!
Couldn’t use point in NYEars Eve. Disappointing.
The quinoa cakes were bland and hard like rocks. The avocado toast was made from a prepackaged guac spread. Disappointed with the overall quality. The service and ambiance was good, though.
It was amazingggggggggggggg!!!!! I’m definitely coming back for sure ❤️
We went for a late lunch and the food was fine, but the service was really unimpressive. Our server told us the juices we wanted were all gone, only to tell us 5 mins later after we ordered and received different drinks that they were suddenly available again because they had made more. We would have waited had we known they were making more, but instead were told they were totally out. When we asked her about it, she just shrugged her shoulders. WTH? Then when we asked to order dessert after our meal, our server just said they "had lots of pastries" and she "didn't know all of them" so we should "go up front to order them on our way out." When we told her we wanted to dine in and finish at our table, she said we should still "go up front and figure it out." RUDE. I've been to the Beatrix Streeterville location several times and expected the same great service here. I was totally wrong and likely won't be back.
Excellent brunch, thank you
Food was fantastic... except they didn’t follow one of my sisters meat temperature... so she ended up not eating all of it. I had three different cocktails and they were very good! Great friendly service and the ambiance was nice. Will def go back when I visit chicago again!
Amazing food and service, we will back to try brunch. Ellen and Riley Lloyd
It was not bad experience. Just wish our server was a little bit better and there were more Vegan options on the menu
We had a wonderful dinner at Beatrix in terms of the food. As for the service, it was terrible. We were seated at a table with cold air blowing on us. We asked if we could be moved and they told us In a rude way that the other table were reserved. We had a reservation too. That response was inappropriate. The waitress spilled drop of wine all over the table when pouring it. (I hate that) my husband asked about the vegetables for a side and she never got back to him and brought the fries. He was trying to make a good choice and she did not listen. The food was good however the experience was less than desired. Not what we were hoping for in Christmas Eve.
Our Christmas Eve dinner at Beatrix Fulton Market was awesome in every way - from the cocktails to our entrees to dessert. The Chicken Wellington was extremely good. The service was excellent and very professional. The staff is friendly and the parking valets are always great to deal with. We don’t go for dinner to Beatrix often, but our experience changes that!
Fantastic service with delicious food.. Atmosphere very festive!!
Service is always great at this location. Super friendly and attentive.
Joanna was great! She did a wonderful job explaining all the food options and the chiliquiles breakfast bar was awesome!
Loved the skirt steak and fries. The chocolate coffee cake is delicious. Great food and atmosphere.
Food was fantastic, ambiance wonderful. Luke was a fantastic waiter; helpful and friendly and fun. Keep him!
Historically I am a big fan of Beatrix . It was my idea for four of us to have brunch there last Sunday. Three of us had the green chili enchiladas, which are normally terrific. All of ours were lukewarm, which defeated the purpose. Their service was also substandard. Finally, the “crisp” Bacon I ordered was burned by any measure. Normally their bacon is great. I was really disappointed. I hope they aren’t resting on their well-earned laurels. I wish I had taken a photo of the bacon
Food is always great here but my dish was cold this time around and my sister’s fries were cold. Not the best experience I’ve had at Beatrix. Will definitely return though due to past great experiences.
Service started out strong, however the server wasn't to be seen again until towards the end of the meal. Gluten Free guest never received her GF bread, however the server tried to make up with the mistake with a cookie.
Wonderful food and above exceptional service.
Got a reservation for standard seating, but they placed me at high top anyway. The food was pretty good, but the drinks were a little overpriced
Lovely server and delicious tea and salad. When ordering salad only, it would be great to be offered some bread, even if one has to pay for it. I left hungry despite the delicious KaleSalad.
The food was delicious and the service very accommodating.
