Named after the Bohemian freethinkers of the 1950s and ’60s, Beatnik West Town channels the Beatnik generation’s sense of style, aspiration, and rebellion to create an exotic escape with maximalist interiors and lush gardens.

Mirroring our design-through-storytelling whimsy, Beatnik’s culinary team takes guests on a globetrotting journey that starts in the Eastern Mediterranean, moves westward across Northern Africa and finishes across the Atlantic with the flavors of Mexico.

Beatnik’s beverage team makes tropical cocktails that are savory and fresh, with inventive recipes that follow a no-waste sensibility. Our wine list is a compact attaché that contains the story of winemakers who make wine in lesser-known regions of the Mediterranean and the Americas.

I got to the restaurant about 5 minutes late for my reservation. My table was not ready, though there were plenty of tables free and open. I waited about 10 minutes to be seated, which was fine, but I had made a reservation. The service also takes a very long time, and throughout our meal, we had a number of different staff members taking our orders. When we needed someone, we couldn't find our assigned person. It was moderately busy, but not too crazy for a Sunday afternoon. Service gratuity is also included, and I wonder if that makes a difference in why the service tends to be understaffed and hard to get help from. This place is beautiful, and the food is good, but the service really detracts from the experience, and this wasn't the first time this had happened during my visits there. I'm definitely now hesitant to go back.

Although the cocktails are a little pricey, the good food and the good service make for a wonderful experience. The indoor/outdoor patio makes for the perfect brunch spot when the Chicago spring isn’t quite as warm as you want it to be.

Went here for brunch on a Sunday. Arrived a little early for our 11:15am reservation but were able to be seated quickly. First time at the Beatnik West Town location and the atmosphere is amazing! It does feel smaller than Beatnik on the River and slightly more casual, but the vibe is very similar. The drinks were fantastic! I had the Mamu Vida (which was perfect for brunch!) and my husband had a Pina Colada served in a coconut, which was a fun surprise. For food, I had the Shakshuka (very flavorful and tasty!) and my husband had the Egg Sandwich, which he enjoyed but said he'd definitely try something different next time. Service was excellent, staff was very friendly and accommodating, and they even had a live DJ. Would highly recommend!

Food was really delicious and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. A great place to go for special occasions. The only con was that my espresso martini ended up costing more than my entire dinner.

I suggest only coming here for drinks, pictures and the board. The rest of the food was really underwhelming, service was slow and our server was giving us sass

Shon Dervis was DJing during brunch. He was 10/10 as a DJ. Food, drinks and ambiance were all wonderful. Everything is a little expensive, but as long as you know that going in it’s all worth it.
