Loved the Irish live music- perfect to start St. Patrick’s Day!
Service was very rushed and not friendly
We quite liked this place in its first iteration as Beat Hotel, and we liked it still when it morphed a bit into Beat Brasserie, but this time around, it's not for us. They have transformed this place from a unique atmosphere with good to very good food, to a pub atmosphere with loud, pounding music, mediocre food and very poor service. We came for an early "pre-theater dinner" ( 5;30 pm on a weeknight) and the music was blasting so that it was near impossible to have a conversation, the service was terrible- they got three of four items we ordered WRONG and it took several tries to get one of them right. Dominic, the manager was great and worked hard to correct the glaring errors of our server, which we so appreciated. This place doesn't work for us anymore, so we won't return, but it clearly works for them....there was a good sized crowd on a weeknight at 5:30 and most of them seemed to be enjoying it more than we were!
The food quality and choices very limited, compared to Beat Brasserie, previous restaurant located there. Service was good.
Not great. Service was terrible.
It was good, waiter super polite !! I totally recommend the ribs!!
Should have advertised it was “not a valentines party” on open table.
Great music, overall vibe and good drinks. The service was not spectacular and I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again. Good place to go out for drinks after dinner.
Very ok experience. Wait staff has way too many tables to manage. Waited almost 30 min for the check
Service was terrible, it took 45 minutes to get a drink...
Pretty cool place. Band was excellent. Food was alright. Bill for 5 people was $300 with tip. Not bad.
This spot had a great vibe, with a band playing during brunch. Overall, the food was good and we even got a free beer flight to test some of the restaurants new beer selections.
Good and service we're great but the live music was much too loud for a Sunday brunch.
Excellent experience! Food was eclectically scrumptious and the beer selection above average; although I had a Bloody Mary too! We especially enjoyed the live music - COPILOT - energetic, fun and a band to keep and eye out for. Thank you.
The service was great but the food was underwhelming. Also no live music even though it was heavily advertised on their website and social media.
Food was better than average bar food, but nothing exceptional. Lots of beers on menu. Beer prices above average.
Great selection of unique beers plus cocktails, wine, food and live music. Something for everyone here! Casual environment with good service. Definitely worth checking out or making one of your go to spots
Several white wines were not available; waiter was sloppy and distracted and had to be reminded several times; menu has become very limited; Sazerac cocktail was definitely not a Sazerac.
I loved this place back when it was the Beat Brasserie, and this was my first time visiting since the rebranding/redesign, so maybe my impression is a little unfair based on high expectations, but I'm really not loving the new format. The food is fine, but honestly, for what it is (slightly above average bar snacks), the price doesn't make sense. It seems like they're investing a lot into their beer selection, which is great, but I remember the Beat Brasserie's kitchen as being creative and talented, and I felt like Brew Hall's kitchen isn't living up to its former self.
Cool place, waitstaff was attentive, i got the cheeseburger. It was delicious
Went for Thanksgiving day but was very disappointed. Good came out cold and not all together. Was nothing special and service was slow and underwhelming.
Went for Thanksgiving dinner and was underwhelmed. The server must have been knew, he was fairly clueless about the offerings. No bread at Thanksgiving! Don't like the new vibe, that's much more bar like with TV's etc... the curry soup was good.
We had a great time at the beat Brew Hall 2 years ago for Thanksgiving so we thought we go back this year. This year's experience was less than wonderful. First thing was that the hostess sat us at the farthest table in the back away from the music so we asked to be reseated. Then she sat us in the very front row on the far side but at least we could see and hear the music quite well. Food was fine, not at all outstanding. service was very good but at least four different waiters, hostesses and hosts came to our table at various times which I thought was serious overkill. one hostess came to our table soon after we head received our drinks and ask this how our meal was which seem to be very odd. It's a cute place but I don't need to go back.
We an excellent all around experience! The food, drinks and beer were all done quite well.
Very Cool spot!! This place was soo much fun. I tried several beers that our waitress recommended and they were all fantastic. I had the burger and my girlfriend had the ribs, both delicious. The band was amazing too, kind of Indie Rock style. Everyone was dancing. Highly suggest this place for a fun night out!
Great beer and food pairings. Our server, Laura, was awesome and made sure we enjoyed our night!
Was way better before, too bad they changed
As the beat will always be a good restaurant in my mind, nice to see it still has that charm of a beer hall. Good change of food beverages like the beer flights are a must to try and take one. Nice place to grab some beverage sand small snack food.
great night out with a group of eight
excellent beer selection - knowledgeable server
tasty food all around
good blues band
probably not a place to go to to have a quiet private conversation, but perfect for groups
Service was awful. We had a meal that was wrong, 2 meals delivered 20 min after everybody else was served, one served 15 min before anybody else. We waited 20min to see our server again to communicate the issues and get the remaining meals. We attempted to order a 2nd round of drinks but waited 30 min for them to arrive. In the interim we had requested our check and the drinks arrived after the bill. Upon reviewing the bill we noticed we were charged for 2 drinks we never ordered but we just ate the charge so we could leave. Also, 3 of the beers we attempted to order weren't available. We were out celebrating a birthday and all the issues totally distracted from our experience and celebration.
Visited Saturday night. Service was extremely slow. Food took 25 minutes (2 appetizers) and when we ordered drink refills we had to remind the waitress to bring them. Food was ok, presentation was less than desirable. They were also out of many menu options (both food and drinks).
My husband and I wound up here on a busy Friday — the eve of the Head of the Charles race. The restaurant is big enough to accommodate many different needs. The dinner was delicious - I had an entree salad with salmon and he had a hamburger. The salmon was perfectly cooked with crispy spice-rubbed skin. All the food was fresh and delicious. Great beer and cocktail selection. Best of all was kindness and efficiency of the servers.
Did not like this place one bit since they rebranded. The cocktails were watered down with too much ice and not balanced. They had gotten one order wrong and was incredibly late to serve our last friends meal. Service was slow.
Beat Brew Hall was much, much better when it was Beat Hotel. The space is still cool, but many of the tables have been replaced with picnic-tables which are pretty uncomfortable. You also will share a table with another party if you are a party of 2 or 3, which I suppose is fine.
The food and cocktails were DELICIOUS at Beat Hotel, now they are just ok. The cocktail list is much smaller and less appealing though my boyfriend liked the beer list. The menu has less options. Do not get the pub salad with added Salmon/chicken etc. I got it with Salmon and it was a nice piece of Salmon but it was on the plainest most uninspired salad I have ever had a restaurant. Iceberg, red onions, cucumbers, and barely any dressing (and I like my dressing light).
Our service was horrible. Our waitress forgot about us for long periods and it was hard for us to even wave her down.
I loved the Beat Hotel, but I will not be back to the Beat Brew Hall.
Beat was good - large tables and a bar area. Our server was attentive. The food was average. The apps and flatbreads were good, the ribs were a little dry. Drinks were good.
Food was good. But service was inconsistent. I think mainly because the kitchen was unorganized. Food came out at different times. Some apps come out with the main course. Good place if you want to hang at bar
Went in expecting Beat Brassier Jazz Brunch and discovered they have reinvented the restaurant. It's now an Oktoberfest brew pub and the whole ambiance has been changed- the stage area is no more and all blocked off. More beer, less wine, food similar but not the exactly the same. Hoping they bring in live music for this new theme. Will have to see what this new place is like in the Harvard Square scene.
They just re-opened and it feels like they are having growing pains with their menu (food and cocktails were very hit or miss) and friendliness of their waiters.
Food was good except the brown rice bowl. I was expecting a grain bowl like Beat used to have on their menu, but this was a bowl of brown rice with steamed vegetables. Pretty pathetic. Would love to see some heartier grains like farro and kamut and roasted vegetables and a seared tofu.
