Great vibe, the playlist was amazing, and the food was great. It was a quiet Sunday.
Fun cocktails, easy going atmosphere, good veggie selections
I was given a gift card by my sister in law to come have brunch, she figured we would enjoy the music and breakfast. Although we missed the live music, the food was excellent and definitely worth the trip into the city. Service was a little slow to begin with but I think they were short on wait staff, the manager did notice and attended to us which was great! Not many places do that right away unless you complain. Overall, the place has a very warm, cozy feel, very hippie like, with good background music. I recommend their asparagus salad, it was amazing! Thank you to the manager for being so kind! my girlfriend recommended the place that same day to a friend!
Loved everything about the Beat! Great find and I'll definitely be back!
One of the better places for cocktails, good food and music in the Square. The Beat always has a great vibe and the service is on point!
Excelente. Los cócteles son fabulosos. Había una banda de música country que no me gustó mucho (porque no disfruto esa música) pero todo lo demás buenísimo. Los empleados muy amables.
Jonathan was a wonderful server, and the food was excellent
I found the menu a bit limited but was excited to find an interesting flatbread. I ordered a mushroom flatbread with fontina, frisée and truffle honey. Sadly, it had so few mushrooms and spotty frisée — but was sweet and sticky with a heavy handed dose of honey. Not great.
My family and I wanted to go to this restaurant for the live music and menu. We arrived early and had to wait for our original reservation time even though there were several empty tables. We sat and ordered. The tap water and/or glass smelled awful. I requested a bottled water and drank it from the bottle. My daughters meal and our appetizers arrived quickly. Although my appetizer was incorrect. Our entrees arrived and my salmon had such an awful odor. My husband flagged down a manager because our server was not around. So I opted for the quiche, which was delicious but ice cold. The manager did not check back with us to ensure that all was well. So we will not be returning, which is sad because we had such high hopes for the restaurant.
Not very special Easter brunch at $45 pp
Easter Jazz Brunch was great!
We always enjoy this place and had a great time Saturday night. The food was good and the music was great! Its a lot of fun and highly recommended. Staff was very good too!
Great music and great food and service
We had a great time Buffalo Cauliflower to die for! Vincent our waiter was fabulous highly recommend this place
Love all of the wines on tab and the live music
appreciated their accommodation of Celiac Disease and medically-restrictive diets
The Beat Brasserie offers consistently good food and service. The live music adds to the fun atmosphere! I highly recommend it for Sunday Brunch.
Visiting town with my wife and son, we booked a week out because Beat seemed like our type of place. Didn't realize at the time it was St. Patrick's Day. So, the place was hopping with a party to celebrate. The bands playing Irish music were great. We were a bit skeptical of the special St, Patty's Day menu but it turned out so much better than I expected. My lamb stew was tender and spiced well. My family loved their dishes as well... especially the Scotch egg. The staff surely had their hands full with the evening but the wait staff never forgot about us and the food and drinks came without delay. It was a fun night and a very satisfying dinner.
We came for a Bachelorette weekend brunch and it was nice and quiet at the time we arrive for our reservation (10.30am), at around 11am they have nice live jazz playing in the background which was wonderful!! The food was delicious THE BEAT BURGER IS AMAZING and extremely filling! The mimosas were also wonderful.
Jazz music was fantastic, the food was so so. Service was good.
Server was excellent. Patient and good listener- got every bit of order correct. Salads ( full size Natural bowl w/ farro) were good but small and surprisingly bland/ lacked salt and excitement - could have used a little spice kick. Also I was supposed to have beets in mine but found maybe 2 very small pieces in entire salad. Live music was great but band took such a long break we only heard one set. Otherwise lively positive atmosphere which I’ll visit again.
Great food and great service
Great ambiance, decent food and good wine list make this a good pick for meeting up with friends or a date.
Great atmosphere and food. Love the jazz bands.
Very cool place. Great music and very good food. Fun to have wine on tap and try different things. Highly recommend for a fun night out!
We've been twice -- first time without reservations and we sat at the bar, second time with reservations for a table. We had the small plates both times and were pleased. Mussels were excellent both times. The cocktails are good but a little pricey, although maybe average for Cambridge. The waiter we had was exceptional. It's a big place but seems pretty well organized. It's not an intimate, romantic setting, but very good for gatherings or a quick meal before a show.
Went with a friend to catch up and the food was a good portion and the server was very kind. Wish we received a little more attention--being told when our food was coming and such. Otherwise, super glad we came by.
I think you restaurant Nickles and Dimes you for every little thing,
My brunch dish was the egg on eggplant with tomato sauce, and it came with one bread, another SLICE of bread was $1!
The consistency of my dish is soupy so, either serve it with a spoon, or give more bread! I ate mine with a fork...
My Friend also ordered additional ranch on the side for 50cents.
Just be real with how people will actually eat your food, because not everyone wants to Instagram their meals.
We thought the atmosphere was great, and enjoyed the food while we were there. Unfortunately, neither of our stomachs felt right shortly after we left. We're convinced the culprit was the buffalo cauliflower that ruined our night out.
Valentine’s day dinner was lovely. The experience was enhanced by the live jazz.
The bottle of champagne was served warm, the staff forgot our appetizer after a 40 minute wait. I had to send my meal back, because it was cold. Overall, pretty bad experience.
Valentine’s Day dinnef
Impressed with small plates and ambiance. Highly recommend it
The Mardi Gras theme was fantastic, with a roving Jazz band, beads, masks and more. This is a wonderful place for special occasions and holidays. The food was delicious, especially the ribs and the catfish.
We were sat directly in front of the band, wish we were asked if that was ok beforehand. Had my 70 yr mother and a friend who is hard of hearing with me, so opposite of ideal situation. Band came on half way through meal, no conversation was possible afterward. I’ve worked in restaurants including the beehive and we always asked if that was ok especially for reservations. You need to ask, is all I’m saying. It pretty much ruined the dinner and we would have stayed longer if not for the seating which loss you money. The hostesses were awesome though, wait staff not so much, obviously interested in larger parties which doesn’t look good tbh. You run a big operation but attention to customers is lacking.
My favorite restaurant in Harvard Square. The Beat Brasserie is always exceeding expectations with their menus and service. I really enjoyed my trout meal and so did my friend. Guy and his team are extraordinary and they make Beat the best restaurant in Harvard Square for food quality, service and price. Bravo!
Went to dinner with a friend on a Monday - was pretty quiet and low key
Beat Brasserie is quite a fun place and I’ve been a few times. Service was great. I was a bit disappointed with the menu selection for brunch as it was a very savory brunch menu with no waffles, pancakes, or French toast which are staples of a good brunch. With that said, the eggs Benedict was delicious.
Decorations and ambiance was great, very cool. Hostess was very awkward and not at all friendly, did not make us feel welcome. Menu is rather small with not many options. Drinks were very pricy and very small...did not expect to get 4 sips from an $11 cocktail. My first cocktail was much better than my second which didn't taste like it had champagne at all. I got steak frites. When it came I didn't have a steak knife and had to get waiter's attention. He brought knife but did not offer us another round of drinks and walked away before we could order. Plate was totally covered in fries with skirt steak piled on top so no where to cut steak and juice went all over fries which was gross. Overall not worth the money.
The Beat Hotel is one of our "go to" restaurants for dinner before theater in Harvard Square. The menu has good variety and service is always welcoming and efficient.
