As long as you get nice people sitting nearby, it’s a lovely event. The food was terrific.
We went for Sunday brunch and it was phenomenal. Creative dishes, incredible quality food. Communal seating in a small, intimate, comfortable way.
We did the 10 brunch, the food was outstanding!
Love the community tables, talked to 4 other guest had a great time.
Food excellent, would not do the wine pairing again, very sub par. Service was fair, upon engaging in conversation w/ the help, very dismissive. Family style was good.
The absolute best restaurant in Portland. Fantastic menu and preparation. The wine pairings were unusual - not the usual chardonnay and pinot - but matched the food perfectly. We have been 4 times and will be back soon.
Great food. Well cooked unlimited meat. If you don't eat beef like me, you have good options in chicken and lamb.
Without a doubt our most favorite foodie option in Portland. Communal seating and great pairings. Love it.
LOved that they explained all the food and wine. Wonderful atmosphere and quiet enough to talk to your table mates.
The loveliest of time, an evening to remember! Thank you!
Delicious food with a great atmosphere. Definitely worth going... there wasn't a dish we didn't enjoy. Excellent service and wine pairings as well.
Fantastic. Need to be able to live with what they serve as there are no choices. But what they serve is always outstaning.
My friend was visiting from Italy and this was her first time back to Portland since 2015 and her must do list included a return visit to Beast. We did the new Tuesday dinner and brunch and both were fantastic. If you like amazing food and drinks, Beast should always be top of your list.
We arrived just on time and got 2 seats on end of a communal table side by side versus across from each other and it was my husband’s birthday. Some courses were good others ok - same on wine pairings. Definitely did not think it worth the price esp as the main was lamb which I don’t eat and was replaced with a lukewarm fish.
The best overall dining experience ever! All six courses were delicious, as were the wine pairings. We loved hearing details about each course and the story behind each wine. A little expensive but well worth the money.
Main course changed to duck since I booked dinner. Rare and not good. I did not like. Texture was off. The gravy was rich Presentation on all was lovely but I could have spent 700.00 for four anywhere in town and had a better meal. Too bad for us and our special celebration.
Great quality food and customer service ( my 5th time).
However, this time the music was extremely loud. Please lower the volume - Thank you.
Some of best food I've ever eaten. The perfect night for a very special occasion.
Amazing experience for a special occasion! I particularly loved both (1) the fixed menu and (2) the communal seating. Space permitting, they separate parties with a little buffer of an empty seat, but in our case, my wife and I had a choice of a couple places to sit when we arrived and we were placed across the table from another couple. We ended up having a lively and engaging conversation with them, and it only added to the experience. One of the larger parties, five in total, were sat at the end of the communal table, with a buffer on either side, and able to have more a private experience. On our other side were two couples, sat next to each other around the bend of the table, and each couple was able to have more of a private dining experience, despite sitting *with* to another couple. If this would be your first experience with the communal dining experience, no worries: it can be as engaging and communal, or not, as you'd like to make it.
Oh, and the food. Ohhhhh, the food. Ah...the food! Oh, and the wine pairings!
Yeah, let's just leave it at that.
We went there for my partners birthday and it was, without a doubt, completely worth it. We were very impressed by the wine pairings and tasting menu—definitely an experience any foodie should seek out. Presentation, taste and pairings were amazing. The sommelier and hostess were informative and fun to hear explain the wines and food. The shared seating was also a great addition to the cozy experience.
We began our anniversary celebrations with brunch at Beast. The three courses were inventive and beautifully presented. We enjoyed the open kitchen, knowledgable staff, and the communal setting. It was a great start to a wonderful day!
Food was so amazing. The brunch tasting menu was generous, and I was full for the entire day, but it was all so perfect. All three main courses were different and satisfied every brunch craving - smoked salmon was divine, the apple clafoutis with candied bacon and vanilla cream was insane, and the pork shoulder hash with a poached egg had this dijon hollaindaise which was incredible. Usually I don't like hollandaise because it's such a gutbuster, but this was not too heavy and all the roasted veg and confit potatoes in the hash were so incredibly delicious. The 4 mini sweets at the end were perfect! Coffee flowed generously, and although service wasn't particularly friendly, it was very attentive and efficient. I will definitely be back for dinner! Reason to visit PDX again!!!
Awesome experience! Will definitely go back! Every course was outstanding and the wine pairings were the cherry on top of an already great experience.
6th time here.
Never disappoints. Food, service and value are always on point.
Beast was really special. Communal table made for interesting conversations with former strangers. Tasting menu allowed us to explore a variety of gustatory delights. Very creative dishes, beautiful flowers, personable service - a wonderful experience!
Outstanding food, the decoration its spot on, and makes you feel that you are in someone’s house.
There is a no tipping policy.
Highly recommended for brunch, be aware its a set menu, and a reservation is needed.
Fantastic. This was by far the best Prix Fix menu my wife and I have tried in Portland, ever. Pacing was great, wine pairings were actually really good (my experience has been bad with these pairings at most restaurants), and the food was phenomenal. The serving of Wagyu was surprisingly large, which is so appreciated as many restaurants dish out 2 oz at the most. Ahi, pasta with mushrooms, wagyu, and even the salad were very good. Its always funny to me to sit in a communal setting and hear the comments from other diners. Food taste and style of cuisine are so subjective and responses are all over the board even when everyone in the entire restaurant are eating the same dishes, at the same time. Some will love it more than others, but we absolutely loved every dish all night. Super impressed and will absolutely return. Very well priced, with the gratuity included. Great job to everyone who works here. Keep it up.
My wife and I were visiting Willamette Valley but we stayed in Portland. One of the vineyards suggested Beast and we could not have been happier. The meal was superb and the pairings were spot on! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for great high-end food in the Portland area.
I’m very disappointed. My business client had to cancel and only after 10 minutes of having the reservation I asked to cancel it and it took until the next day for someone to call me back and say that they do not except cancelations and I would be charged a fee. I’m in the food business and sad to say I’ll never go back here
The food is fabulous. The price is high, but worth the experience. And, you don't leave a tip, they don't want you to and they zero out the tip line on your bill. You don't know what's on the menu until you get there and each dish is spectacular. We opted for the wine pairing which was another great experience with wine offerings from all around the world. We had a wine from Mexico with our Wagyu beef course, it held us surprisingly well, but we all agreed a cab would have been more desirable. My only complaint would be that the music was too loud so it was difficult to hear each other and also hear the server describe each course and wine offering. I'd definitely go again to bring friends or for a special occasion.
Excellent experience. Service and staff was very attentive and food amazing. Would come back on a very special occasion like our anniversary.
Always a treat going to Beast and enjoying the great good and excellent service.
Wonderful 6 course meal with wine pairing for each course. Not a cheap meal, but worth the price for a special occasion
I cant say enough wonderful things about Beast!!! The staff was incredible, the food was so thoughtful as well as intricate, fabulous tasting as well as approachable!!! It was our anniversary and we had traveled from Detroit to Portland for getaway; they were so helpful with the reservation and gave us a wine paring as a special gift . I am a chef in the food scene in Detroit and was just over the top about the entire tasting menu and every little detail that went with it!!!
Some may go back to Portland to hike ( and that was cool) but Beast is what I would travel back for again!
Bravo and cheers Beast

The food was well inspired and imagined. I’ve never had this kind of dinner and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. It is so impressive how often the menu changes and all the thought that goes into it.
My dining companions and I have traveled extensively and eaten at many James Beard Chef and Michelin Star restaurants as well as those who are not yet recognized for their talents. We felt the menu at Beast was disjointed from one course to the next and the wine pairings disappointing in the selection poured and in their lack of compatibility with the food. I’ve read great reviews of Beast so perhaps this was an off night. The venue is quaint and cozy but very dark so impossible to read the menu.
Beast provided a dining experience that is one of the highlights of my culinary adventures. Impressively planned dishes, impeccable ingredients, well considered wine pairings, and excellent service made this meal one to remember.
Oustanding fixed menu with wine pairing. Great atmosphere and passionate staff. Foodie paradise!
Simply incredible-the brunch is a great value, with just the right amount of food, and every dish felt incredibly special and delicious. I was impressed with the friendly service, and how every ingredient in each course was perfect. We even enjoyed getting to know our table neighbors-it added to the fun vibe! It was overall a very memorable and fabulous experience!
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The food was excellent and the wine pairings just set off every dish. We will return.
Love.yummy food wine and music! Delish delightful and wow.
