About Beast

BEAST features the bounty of the Northwest with French inspiration in mind. A six-course prix-fixe dinner is offered five nights a week in a communal setting. The menu changes Wednesday and remains the same for the next two weeks based upon the ingredients of the season. A three-course prix-fixe brunch is offered every Sunday.

Wine pairings are available for dinner and brunch. As our menu changes every two weeks, so do they.

We politely decline substitutions as we offer a set menu only but are often able to accommodate allergies with advanced notice.

A credit card is required to secure all reservations. We have a 24-hour cancellation policy for parties up to five people and a 48-hour cancellation policy for parties of six or more. Any cancellations within the aforementioned timeframes will result in an $85 charge per person and $30 for brunch.

unbelievable meal. it is a small restaurant with seating at 2 shared tables. 4 courses that are determined by the chef. just sit down and enjoy a world class meal. $35 per person, no tipping.

We were last at Beast about two years ago. Our visit last weekend was great! The food was good before; this time it was fantastic. There are two sittings with a prix fixe menu. Everything was excellent. but the halibut with prawn consommé was truly superb. The pasta with Calabrian chile and pork ragu was also fantastic. The salad with mushrooms was inspired. This was a great meal! We did the wine pairings, which were unusual but very well matched with the food. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience in a gourmet inspired location. You sit at a large table with other guests which made for nice conversation. The menu is pre set with 5 courses. We chose to do the wine pairing as well. All courses were outstanding with very creative ingredients. Would have liked the chef to come to the tables at the completion as they do at The James Beard House. Highly recommend for a special occasion.

My girlfriend and I went to Beast to celebrate a special occasion... the food was fantastic, service was even better. The owner came by and chatted for a while, telling us stories about how she began. It was a great evening - I highly recommend beast.

A must for anyone who enjoys great food presented creatively. The show is the kitchen and I felt sorry for those with their backs to the action. The bloody mary was delicious. Thankfully we reordered before they ran out. Watching the claflouti's construction was only exceeded by their flavors. The salads tasted as good as they looked. The eggs and lamb and goo were delicious. Every detail of brunch was well done and precisely executed. Still, watching the show along with my friend made the meal all the better. Highly recommended.

Brunch at Beast was an amazing way to sample the food without sitting through a long dinner service. The service was excellent and runs like a well oiled machine without feeling cold and impersonal. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Brunch is three courses plus petit fours. All the dishes were beautiful and tasted great but the lamb shoulder hash is probably the best breakfast dish I’ve ever had. Price includes gratuity and for the quality of food and experience it is a deal.

What a great restaurant! Read about Beast and thought it sounded interesting. We arrived just in time and were seated at a long table side by side. The food was divine and the wine pairings very interesting and totally appropriate for the food. It was a wonderful dinner experience and we would return anytime! A real treat!

The food and service were excellent, but the noise level was so high that I could not have a conversation with the persons next to me. Full disclosure, I'm 73 years old and have mild to moderate hearing loss, but I had my hearing aids in and they were turned on working as designed. Still, conversation was impossible for me. I could not hear a word our service person was saying as she served each course. In my view an elegant restaurant should be quiet, not loud. Regretfully, I will not be back.

Expanded our sense of the possible! Thank you! The only issue was that one guest who shared our table had an extreme amount of perfume on. This had a substantial impact on one person in our party (headache, interference with smells/tastes/aromas, etc.). Completely nice people, but we didn't really know what to do to address this issue and only really knew the extent of the impact after the fact. Not the fault of Beast, but would appreciate knowing how to navigate the situation, if it happens in the future.

We showed up for our reservation, however the server identified my friend as intoxicated and would not serve him drinks. We decided it would be best to just leave (without ordering anything) rather than debate them on that subject. The owner proceeded to charge my credit card $240.00 as a penalty for leaving (which I did not agree to of course). They only had the card info because I made the reservation on open table. I called and spoke to the GM of Beast to dispute this charge however she said they had a strict reservation policy and even though we showed up, they would not refund me this penalty they decided to impose. I have now had to go through VISA to dispute this charge. VISA has identified this as fraud. Thank goodness for Visa or I would be out $240.00 for Beast's fraudulent activity.

Brunch at Beast was one of the best meals I have ever had. It was a three course meal with a small dessert offering. There's no ordering off a menu, you eat what the chef is preparing that day. Ingredients are fresh and local. We started with a blueberry clafouti (similar to a dutch baby) with fresh whipped cream and candied bacon. It came to us right out of the oven. Second course was seared ahi tuna. Third course was the famous Beast hash made with short ribs. Petite fours for dessert. If you live in Portland or are planning a trip there, you definitely want to eat there. The restaurant is small, so reservations are required. Dinner is served nightly, but brunch is served Sunday only. This is not a good place for picky eaters or those with food allergies and/or food avoidances.

I really enjoyed the food however, the music was so loud we could not communicate with our friends or anyone else at the table (dropping close to $500). I do enjoy background music but when the wait staff has to yell to describe the next course or wine selection it is too much. The first time we went to Beast was 5 years ago. At that time the Chef stood behind the counter and describe each course, where the ingredients were harvested and her decision on why she created the dish. It was like you were actually at the Chefs table. You were able to communicate with your friends as well as make new friends at the communal farm table. All impossible to do this time around. They lost the uniqueness and what the small atmosphere created. Food was great but as equally important is the surrounding in which you experience the food.

Dinner at Beast exceeded expectations. Accommodated vegetarian diners for the full tasting menu in a manner that felt intentional, not like an afterthought or a hassle. Sat at the chefs counter, amazing to watch service in such a small kitchen & the kitchen staff was personable and engaging. Would recommend, looking forward to returning.
