This is a cool dining experience, where you are seated communally and can watch the assembly of each dish. The food is phenomenal and not something you are likely to make at home. Special.
This was spectacular. I had the counter seat and absolutely adored my experience. The team is so wonderful and the food. Good god. Mind. Blown. Will be back again and again and likely an excuse to visit Portland sooner rather than later.
One of the most incredibly delicious food experiences I've had. I would highly recommend it and look forward to going back with pleasure...as the fixed menu changes every few weeks.
The sommelier knows what he's doing and the wine pairing was extraordinary.
Thank you for a fabulous meal - I've wanted to eat at Beast since it opened and finally had my chance. I combined a business meeting with a birthday celebration and we had an exceptional experience.
My date and i had an amazing meal..one that will never be forgotten. Service was wonderful and knowledgeable. The wine pairing with each course mind-blowingly spot on. It brought tears to my eyes a few times in a good way. Highly recommend this experience to anyone that appreciates food and wine.
Four of us recently enjoyed dinner at Beast. I have been several times, and it has always been a superb experience, but this time was perhaps the best ever. Every dish was spectacular, particularly the green garlic and squid ink past course, the quail main course, and the dessert. (The menu is a pre-fixe tasting menu and changes constantly, so check the website when you book, but I have never had a bad dish.) We did the wine pairing and drank some very interesting wines that complemented each dish. The ambiance was quiet (unusual these days) and comfortable. (And the foodie quotes from famous people in the restroom are not to be missed!) Expensive, but worth it.
We started off with cocktails at Expatriate, Beast's companion bar across the street, which is also excellent and quite fun. Service at both Beast and Expatriate was top notch.
One off the top 10 meals I’ve had.
If you like great flavors and interesting food you have to dine here.
The food was delicious, something anybody in that area looking for good food to try out. When I’m in Portland again I will definitely be coming back.
Great good, reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.
Exceptional in every way.
6 course dinner $125
Wine pairing for each course $50
Overall it was impressed with each dish in different degrees. Not too overwhelming more like traditional technique with a twist of something. I also really enjoyed the wine pairing that Michael brought up. Had few wines that I would never pick to pair which went so darn good.
So why 4 out of 5: garlic was repeatedly used, over salted with few things. Specially I didn't like the frontage blanc, was salty. Saltier than the cheese dish served right before that.
The best dish for me was squid ink pasta with octopus ragu and paired with LeCoste 'Bianchetto' Vino Etna Rosso.
Highly recommend. I would come back here again if I have a chance to visit Portland again.
Everything was great except for the $20 beer pairing. The tasting was only three small pours and not worth the $20.
Food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Loved the seating arrangements - we met lovely people who shared our table but had enough privacy to hold our own conversation too. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Chef was right there with us preparing the meal so we could see what was being made. The wait staff announced each dish as it was served. The food was completely delicious - no additional seasoning required. A great experience all around.
It was really an awesome experience. Worth the money. I will definitely go back and try the dinner menu.
Without the Charcuterie plate, Beast is nothing special. Just white noise charging way too much. We won’t ever go again.
Fabulous food, wine pairings and service.
The food and service were both excellent.
Went to Beast for Sunday brunch with my wife and I visiting from SoCal and my son and his girlfriend that live in Portland. Very welcoming as we entered the restaurant. The staff were very attentive and friendly. this was a 3 course fixed menu, each unique in presentation and taste from starting with a pastry, bacon sweet/savory combination moving on to 2 other courses, all extremely tasty and aesthetically prepared. Bottom line, really good and we all want to come back for the evening meals.
My fourth time, always sublime.
I'm not surprised that I really enjoyed this dining experience and I'm glad for that.
The menu was fantastic and the wine pairing (for $50 additional) was such a delicious experience. I really appreciated the waiter and sommelier's expertise/ professionalism as well. Both gave us great food and wine descriptions and everything tied together seamlessly. I'd highly recommend Beast. Especially for special occasions or celebrations.
Great food served at communal tables. They catered to my GF diet pretty well.
Incredible, low-key atmosphere. Fantastic food. The menu changes frequently, but I'm sure it will be fantastic whenever you go. My wife and I had a wonderful time catching up and enjoying the incredible food. We both love scallops and were very impressed with the salt-cured scallops. Such a great surprise!
Love the setting, however was expecting more from the food. Everything was just way too salty, and it was like they were trying too hard. Nothing stood out as amazing. Some dishes, like the salad, were almost too salty to eat, yes the salad was salty. Was hoping to find a great place, that didn't happen. Maybe it was a bad night, but for $300 its not worth trying again. Wanted to love this place, but just couldn't.
Incredible food. My wife and I were gifted a dinner for two with wine pairings by a business partner, and I think I'll always remember the meal I had there. Incredible complexity, a terrific "story arc" (in a sense) of courses, and expert introductions to each course / wine by the very kind, courteous sommelier. Thanks, Beast!
Amazing! Always consistently good. First time at brunch- and not the last!
This is an incredibly special restaurant and I highly recommend it to anyone.
One of the best fine dining experience you’ll have in Portland
I maybe be a bit biased as I have followed Naomi's gastronomical exploits for more than a decade, but she always delivers an exceptional meal and experience. It's a true value as well.
We really enjoyed the Beast. We felt very welcomed upon our arrival. It was our first time doing a tasting meal and it was fun to see what was coming next and hear about all the ingredients in the dishes. All the dishes were delicious, and the Bloody Mary was quite delicious.
This was my 5 or 6th visit to Beast and oddly although it was thoroughly enjoyable, it was the lowest key menu I've eaten there. Still extremely good and well worth the value.
Beast never fails to impress. Another outstanding meal at Beast, the best we've had in the last year. Ms. P and her dream team provide some of the best food on this coast. Thank you! John and Marry
It’s my second time going to Beast for a special event and both times it has been REMARKABLE. Worth every penny! The food was exquisite and full of fascinating/unique flavors that I couldn’t get enough of (I could have eaten a whole meal of each dish!). The wine pairings were impeccable and the stories behind them were even better. I can’t thank the Beast team enough for making my boyfriend’s birthday so special, we can’t wait to go back!
Is it possible that this place gets better over time? I think it is. There just seems to be no end to the creativity that goes into the menu, and everything is so artfully presented. I'd highly recommend the wine pairings, well worth the money for the interesting and expertly-paired wines that you get. There isn't anything about this place that is short of stellar.
Food was very good but way too expensive. Not worth the experience. Probably would not go back.
Had brunch with wine pairing. Excellent food and friendly server.
The atmosphere and food at Beast are lovely. Great time.
We had an awesome brunch - service was on point, and the food was perfect!
Had 2 members of our party of 6 cancel for illness and their cancellation policy is extreme.
Amazing prix fixe dinner for a group of friends. Pairings were fantastic, especially the wine. Lots of wines from less known regions that meant something to the restaurant and paired really well with the meal. Did not feel heavy or over full at the end, as I have with other multi-course dinners. Overall a really great experience
