Always a pleasure to dine at Bearnaise and this time was no different. Can't say enough about the friendly staff, especially the delightful hostess (hostess/manager?) who greeted on arrival and as we left. Rarely does a restaurant make you feel so welcome. The best thing on the menu is most definitely the bread basket - for a cheap price you get 6 or 7 varieties of freshly baked (still warm) pastries. As for entrees the Montreal special is delicious (salmon, bagel, cream cheese, tomato, onion and capers) while the bennies come with the eggs perfectly cooked and a rich creamy sauce. Nice cocktail, wine and beer list. What a great place - A+

I was surprised by how good my brunch burger was. Plus added an egg on top. Great option for a late in day brunch.

Fine experience overall, but different from when I go with my friends. My parents are visiting for a few weeks, so I wanted to take them to one of my favorite spots. They seem like out-of-towners. Our waiter commented on that, making me wonder if our service was noticeably lesser because of that.

We loved José and our brunch experience! The vegetarian omelette was amazing and we met the owners after brunch. Truly a great experience!

My eggs Benny egg was essentially uncooked... like the white was translucent and completely runny. Drinks were good... won't be back.

They do frites very well. If you just want wine and frites, this is a good place. I ordered duck confit, and it was so salty yet lacking in flavor that I really struggled to get through it. My girlfriend ordered the steak, which was quite good and cooked perfectly. The waiter brought all of the tables around us bread, but did not bring us any bread. My girlfriend liked her meal, and the wine was good, so it was not a terrible place for a date, but the duck was bad enough that I won't return. There are too many decent French places in DC to waste time, and money, on this one.

Overall we had a great experience. The food was delicious, and the spicy bloody mary's were delicious. The manager and bartender were very friendly, but for some reason, our server just seemed to be un-enthused throughout our stay, which dampened the mood a little.
