Was a beautiful warm sunny day and we wished to eat outside so made a reservation at Beacon Hill Hotel. The food was up and down as usual unfortunately. The oysters and the steak frites my husband had were great as was my Caesar salad with a skimping of white anchovies. I ordered the appetizer crab cake for a main course and it was weird though. Cold and over-processed into a cake which mostly tasted like wet ground up panko shaped in a ring mold-- may have been some crab in there because it was pink but truly odd. The wine list is reasonable and nice. Eating on Charles street is an amusement even if the quarters are tight. Wait staff was helpful but overstretched. I wish that the chef would vet his flights of fancy with others before serving because most of his really main stream food is fine but he does some strange things sometimes and you can't tell from reading the menu.

We dined as a table of four. The hamburger was good but the French fries were cold and soggy. The other three quests were disappointed as they had dinner there several times before and has a good experience Apparently, there is a new chef, menu and waitstaff, all of which need improvement. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere.

I have been going there since they opened and I felt like they finally had a great menu. Now they’ve changed it almost entirely. Same dishes but different and not good preparation. Hope they figure this out because it’s a great place otherwise

Our waitress had a very loud voice that could be heard all over the restaurant no matter where in the space she was. And she and the other staff congregated by the espresso machine which was close to our table, so then we had to speak over their conversation to hear each other. That is a sign or poor training. Regarding the service, although it was not busy, the first table they offered was right next to a group of four conversely loudly. We asked to be moved to a quieter table, suggesting the back room, but they sat us at the end of the front room -- hence opposite the espresso machine. They didn't seem to 'get' that we wanted to be able to have a quiet conversation. And the waitress could not keep straight who wanted which items -- the beverages, the desserts, and even after having given me the check (which was correct since I was hosting), plunking the folder with the receipt and my credit card in the middle of the table rather than returning it to me. Either her concentration or memory were lacking. Our food was very nicely prepared and presented, but all these other factors lead me, likely, to not return.

We had brunch there. Food was good. I ordered a salad that was not on the menu but they have been able to accommodate my request. It seems that they have a nice breakfast selection as well that we will try soon.

We loved the Beacon Hill Hotel. It is a great location, a pretty spot and great food. I'd definitely recommend it!

Lovely quiet lunch spot on Charles Street in Beacon Hill. Great place to meet someone for a business conversation or catch up. Staff is welcoming, service on point and food quite tasty at reasonable prices. Worth a visit!
