About Beacon Bar and Grill
Designer Walter Gagliano's second visioning of BBG introduced a fresh, romantic feel to BBG. Vermeer’s portrait of “Girl with a Pearl Earring” was the muse in creating a new look. “Our original goal was to bring the space to a cleaner more contemporary vibe. When we discovered the over scaled Vermeer print, originally created by Philipe Stark, our fondness for bold romanticism found expression and led our fabric and lighting choices in a different direction" stated Gagliano.
Chef Edgar Melendez introduces a menu that balances his own personal flair and beliefs with the wants and needs of our guests. Clean lines, bright flavors, and unique combinations best describe his culinary style. Menu items are influenced by the seasons in conjunction with local farmers and purveyors. Just like our clientele, our cuisine represents a fusion between regional and global influences. Chef Melendez's goal is to give a truly pleasant and graceful dining experience in a casual, elegant setting.

Beacon Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
Dinner with colleagues. Our server was excellent. I wish I recalled his name. We were 6 on a business dinner. The food was mediocre across all of us. Bland pasta dish for half of us. The rest enjoyed our meal better. But still not extraordinary. The ambience is something out of a70s film set. Some of us loved it, others not so much.
We went on a cold Sunday evening and while the place was not very crowded, the food was excellent. After a while the crowd picked up and we enjoyed the selection of specialty drinks and appetizers along with the ambience. The wings, salmon and steak were outstanding and even though the servers were busy, they constantly checked to be sure our group was doing well. It is located in a residential neighborhood but not that far from the downtown DC area and I will definitely make another trip there on my next business trip to DC.
This dining experience was a total miss. We had been there once before for bunch and were pleased with the food and service. On this particular night, the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived, and didn’t get much busier during our visit. The server was friendly, but very slow and inattentive. Two times I went to the bartender to request service. Our drinks were empty while eating our dinner, but the server never checked on us. My meal, the grilled chicken breast, was an extremely light portion; didn’t look like an entire breast, was just okay. Our appetizer was tasty, but small. This experience would discourage me from returning.
I've been coming here for years and the service and food remain a constant A+. The gentleman who resides over the front seating/reservation are took the time to accommodate our party when we had another person join our reservation. The wait staff also very attentive and high energy. Keep up the good work!
Guacamole- delicious. Caesar salad - ok. Steak - nothing special. French fries - soggy. Chicken soup with rice and vegetables- good.
Overall, not a fantastic experience. The service was good but there was a restaurant phone that kept ringing, making conversation difficult.
My girlfriend’s and I have made an annual tradition of coming here for Thanksgiving brunch. The menu selections are really good and for the past 2 years, we have had a wonderful time! The service is impeccable and the unlimited champagne is a bonus for the very minimal cost of the brunch. Will definitely keep the tradition going!
The Sunday Brunch buffet choices are phenomenal and the bloody Mary's are very good. I was stuffed after my first plate but I saw many people going back for more. I wouldn't want to over do it, but in a place like this it's easy to do so watch yourself.
Our hostess was great! I've been before and I'd go again.
