Designer Walter Gagliano's second visioning of BBG introduced a fresh, romantic feel to BBG. Vermeer’s portrait of “Girl with a Pearl Earring” was the muse in creating a new look. “Our original goal was to bring the space to a cleaner more contemporary vibe. When we discovered the over scaled Vermeer print, originally created by Philipe Stark, our fondness for bold romanticism found expression and led our fabric and lighting choices in a different direction" stated Gagliano.
Chef Edgar Melendez introduces a menu that balances his own personal flair and beliefs with the wants and needs of our guests. Clean lines, bright flavors, and unique combinations best describe his culinary style. Menu items are influenced by the seasons in conjunction with local farmers and purveyors. Just like our clientele, our cuisine represents a fusion between regional and global influences. Chef Melendez's goal is to give a truly pleasant and graceful dining experience in a casual, elegant setting.

From the very beginning things were a bit rocky (we had a reservation). When we were finally seated, we sat ungreeted for at least 5 minuets. One of the bust boys came and gave us water but we had no server. I had finished a complete glass of water before the young lady finally came. She did not introduce herself she just went right into asking what we wanting to drink. We both wanted mimosas and I had to literally stop her from walking away from our table because after siting for 5 minutes we knew what we wanted (it’s a prefix 3 course menu that’s one page). Once we placed our orders we continued to wait quite a bit from our 1st course but once the food came the service got better. Our mimosas were filled very frequently and the check was processed in a timely manner. Note to our server: introduce yourself and make eye contact with your guests. This small notion will help a lot in the overall experience of your customers.

Dinner with colleagues. Our server was excellent. I wish I recalled his name. We were 6 on a business dinner. The food was mediocre across all of us. Bland pasta dish for half of us. The rest enjoyed our meal better. But still not extraordinary. The ambience is something out of a70s film set. Some of us loved it, others not so much.

We went on a cold Sunday evening and while the place was not very crowded, the food was excellent. After a while the crowd picked up and we enjoyed the selection of specialty drinks and appetizers along with the ambience. The wings, salmon and steak were outstanding and even though the servers were busy, they constantly checked to be sure our group was doing well. It is located in a residential neighborhood but not that far from the downtown DC area and I will definitely make another trip there on my next business trip to DC.
