Thank you Isabelle for honoring our request! Koa gave a great wine recommendation and Clarke was an excellent server. All of the food was amazing!
Food was amazing! The filet was cooked perfectly (medium) and the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi was delicious. Atmosphere and ambiance at sunset put this over the top for us.
We had a good meal with great service. We all had one of the various fresh catches for dinner. The valet was a little rough with the cars though.
An obviously beautiful view in great location but poor service and inedible food. Our arugula salad was decent. The heat on the potstickers was nice but the dumplings themselves were soggy and tasted like Trader Joe’s potstickers. Our crab encrusted fish was inedible. $50 for an over cooked piece of fish with overly sweet and uncomplimentary sauces and mediocre potatoes. We’ve had monchong before and it was light and buttery. This was dense, dry and foul tasting. Our server was very nice but we hardly ever saw him. We received our entree and waited about 4or 5 min and finally asked a busser for forks( they had been cleared with the previous food). Twice we sat with empty water glasses for 5 or more minutes. The martinis and wine selection were good, but the experience was such a let down. We will not be returning and we will make a point to tell people not to eat here unless they want bad food (inspired by the 90’s) and poor service.
Although disappointed we had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated at our table, esp after having made a booking, we were able to enjoy a cocktail at the bar before having a delicious dinner - the fish was cooked perfectly. The restaurant was located right on the water and very popular. In the end, a great anniversary dinner.
Great views of water and sunset. Very good food, service, and atmosphere.
You just can’t beat the Beach House. The food and ambiance were outstanding. Our server, Caleb, was extremely good and attentive. Our lunch extended into Happy Hour, so you know it was good!
Sort of pricey for the quality of the food, but the view was nice. Make sure you ask for a table that overlooks the beach.
Clarke is the best server I’ve ever had
Incredible service and great views!
Great venue right on the water. No better place for a sunset dinner in Kauai! Food is always good and the service is also great. Go there and eat and take some photos at sunset. New twist is that there are hundreds of Parakeets that come into the trees right about sunset to bed down for the night.
Everything was absolutely perfect!
Great dinner! We are big fans of Monkeypod so we were excited to come and try the beach house. It did not disappoint! Every single staff member we encountered was delightful. First we were greeted by some very beautiful and sweet hostesses! Great energy. We sat at the bar with Carly until our table was ready. Carly knows her stuff! She gave great recommendations. Our server was terrific! His name was Arland request him if you can! When our drinks arrived they were delivered by darling Kaya(?), she answered the questions we had with a smile! Food was great as expected! We will return!
While all the flavors of the many dishes we tried were great, each dish lacked that finishing touch that made it stand above and stand out. The coconut chowder soup could have used a garnish. The watermelon salad lacked any texture other than garden fruits and vegetables. A crostini would have been nice. The lobster deviled eggs were served on a plain plate. They could have used a garnish and perhaps some pickled vegetables to accompany them. There was zero presentation value with the otherwise delicious pot stickers. Fine dining is all about attention to detail. These details were absent. The casual service approach while adequate, was not on par with one I would expect at a high end restaurant.
Another style of preparing and presenting Ahi...delicioud, tastefull, perfect balance
And I introduced NA beer at the bar and no longer only in the kitchen. Although they had to put virgin bloody mary’s on the bill instead. The best restaurant at Poipu beach 👍
Second time to celebrate an occasion at this restaurant due to the amazing views, location right on the beach, and amazing food. Only downfall on this visit was we were a group of 6 celebrating three birthdays and a wedding anniversary that all happened within the week and specifically requested a table by a window. Instead we were put in the back of the restaurant, which was not ideal. Food is always terrific (try the lobster devilled eggs) and make sure you reserve close to sunset as the views are stunning (if you get a window!).
Mother’s Day dinner was outstanding!!!
Went in for lunch and was really impressed. Our food and service was OUTSTANDING. When you throw in the view it's the PERFECT combination for the best dinning experience we've had on the island. We got the fish tacos and miso glazed catch based off of our servers suggestion. We were even more pleasantly surprised when happy hour started. We got another round of drinks and an order of truffle fries and Ravioli. The Mai Tais are the best I've had and the live music really brought things to the next level. You're crazy if you don't try this place at least once.
Good service and great view, the food is ok.
I recommend going for a dinner.
We were very disappointed with the selections on the menu. We've been coming there for 20 years and all our favorites are off the menu. like Crab cakes, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Mashed potatoes, Venison, carrot cake etc...We live on the island now and come here once a month. I owned restaurants in Connecticut and why change something that was working great for all these years. This menu was not what I expected for Mothers Day.
I heard that Merrimans bought this restaurant. We stopped going to Merrimans 4 years ago do to 4 times in a row that we both had bad meals. I hope you change your minds and reestablish the old menu.
Can’t recommend the beach house. Nice staff and quality ingredients but lacking training and poor preparation send the experience down the drain. We had a ton of misfires on service and the food had a variety of issues. With some training I think this could be a star of the island but as it stands we just left feeling down. I’m not sure there’s much incentive to turning things around as the views and captive audience assure full tables every night. But it’s a disservice to the ingredients and to the customers to not try harder.
Amazing honeymoon dinner here. Split the corn chowder, watermelon salad, and wasabi-crusted Opa which was more than enough for me and my wife. Amazing service, beautiful setting. Great drinks too!
Atmosphere does not disappoint. Service people are friendly and attentive to needs. My fish dish this time was not up to par but my wife’s steak was fabulous.
Always our must do on Kauai.
The Beach House is a great spot to catch a memorable Hawaiian sunset over a really good dinner! We get a reservation there every time we are in Hawaii!
Come for the view not the food.
Food is not worth the price, even the fish and chips were just so so, tiny little chips almost burned, like they were what was left in the bottom of the basket. Service OK.
Great experience from start to finish. The hostesses were very sweet and helpful in getting us checked in. We waited at the bar for our table, Karen and Katrina made great drinks for us and were fun to sit and chat with. For dinner we had Jay as our server. He was very nice, knowledgeable, relaxed and prompt in his service. The food was amazing and we shared some great wine. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Beach House!
Food was excellent as always server was great but the bus boy was having some issues. He should probably not be working at a place like this. He picks up your food and does not even ask if you’re through just picks up and leaves with a mad impression
Our server was great and super friendly. The macadamia mahi mahi was amazing. Very disappointed about "cafeteira style" plating For the price of almost $50 a plate we expected the rice and mashed potatoes to be plated and sauced not scooped with ice cream scooper like cafeteria food. Makes the plate seem way overpriced for what you get. Really turns you off especially when all other comparable restaurants in Kauai make an effort with beautiful and delicious Gourmet presentations. Great location (only selling point for restaurant) but restaurant is very very loud. They also need to serve better bread - tasted like old bread served on airplane. There are better restaurants in Kauai for the same high end price- Red Salt and Tidepools are much better.
Food was ok. Very overpriced. Main course was ok, but not spectacular. They have removed some popular items from the main course menu, why? Scenery is incredible. Dessert only has 5 choices....chocolate pie, coconut pie, strawberry pie, another pie and ice cream. Pie was just refrigerated and not home made. Very disappointing for desserts.
Overall for the price, they need more main course options, lower their price slightly, and at the very least get some more dessert options.
They knew it was our 30th wedding anniversary, didn’t offer anything free or at the least, put writing on the dessert plate. This is our third time here and their service is not what it used to be. Won’t be coming back.
Who could ask for more than the absolutely phenomenal views of the Poipu oceanfront?! Oh, and the food and mai tais (with Lilikoi foam) are amazing too! We ALWAYS make it a point to come to the beach house at least 2 or 3 times every trip to Kauai. It's a must do!
This place was amazing, my fiancé And loved everything about this place. Food and staff was amazing.
Great views , right on the water. Good food & great service.
The Beach House came highly recommended. I made reservations a month in advance of our trip. We still got stuck in a back corner with plants blocking the ocean view. Then about a hundred wild parakeets flew into the trees next to us and feathers floated onto our table and into food. The waiter said it happens every night so they knew it was the worst table. The food was good but resort prices. Not the experience other have had there sadly.
Great experience, food, service, and ambiance was top notch!
We made our reservation on-line about three months in advance of our trip. We advised them we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we'd like a table to enjoy the sunset. When we arrived they welcomed us and our friends who were joining us on the trip by congratulating us on our anniversary. They gave us one of the best tables in the restaurant with a view. The menu selections were great and the food was awesome; the best mahi mahi I've every enjoyed. The view was gorgeous we'd never seen such a beautiful sunset. Our server had a wonderful personality and was terrific at his job. A very sweet touch was an anniversary card signed by all of the employees congratulating us on our anniversary. Overall one of the best experiences we've ever enjoyed at a restaurant. They definitely helped make our special day very special for us.
Amazing sunset view. Food was delicious. Highly recommended when in kauia.
We came here for our anniversary, mainly because it has the best view of the sunset. The sunset did not disappoint. It was beautiful! Our server was great, however, the food was just okay. Not bad but not memorable. I ordered the grilled pork loin with bok choy. The pork was tender and had a nice smoky flavor, but the veggies were unrecognizable after being diced too small and over cooked. I never did find the mushrooms it came with. My husband had the crab crusted fish with mashed purple potatoes, and it was actually delicious. My favorite part of my meal was my cocktail (a mule type drink with passion fruit) and the chocolate cream pie. I definitely would recommend it for the views. Dinner wasn’t worth what we paid, in my opinion. I suggest grabbing a seat at the bar for apps, drinks or dessert.
