BEWARE! BE EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS IF YOU VISIT AS THIS RESTAURANT IS THE FREQUENT TARGET OF SERIOUS CRIME... Our car was parked in the parking lot, right in front of the restaurant, broad daylight, bustling with alot of people around. 2 windows on our vehicle were smashed and of course all the contents were stolen (even though nothing was in plain sight). While walking around the parking lot after this happened to see if I could find any of our belongings I noticed another car also had their windows smashed. I talked with the restaurant manager, who wasn't surprised at all and acknowledged it was a very frequent problem though blamed it on the city since it is a "city-owned" parking lot and the city won't put up cameras. Obviously the City could and should do so, but if not the restaurant should to protect their patrons. Or the restaurant could hire a person to monitor the lot. Or they could mention upon check-in to make sure you've left no valuables. Alot more could be done to protect people since it's so frequent. No matter how great the view, it's NOT worth it if your car is going to be damaged and items stolen (or worse). While I understand crime can happen anywhere, given this is a targeted location for criminals I wouldn't suggest visiting until the restaurant takes it more seriously and takes action to protect their patrons.

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but the last three or four times we've been very disappointed in the quality of the food. Not sure if the restaurant is short staffed but things run slowly and it's difficult to get a hold of your waiter. Previously, we've had to return prime rib that was not properly cooked and delivered to our table cold. Evidently, food seems to sit a while before it's brought out. The last time we brought out of town guests and they too were surprised and the low quality of the food and service. My husband and I made a reservation yesterday (12/26/16). We ordered calamari for an appetizer and we had to return it as it was cold and not fully cooked. We made a special trip out to have the prime rib and particularly Yorkshire pudding. At first we were told they were out of Yorkshire pudding but after we expressed our disapproval we were told it would be ready in about 15 minutes. I ordered the chicken but my food was just warm not hot. Literally, I received about a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. Was very disappointed. This is such a beautiful place and it's a shame it's lacking in service and food quality. The place needs a food and service revamp. Has the potential to be one of SF's very best! Until then, very unlikely to return.

Food, service and ambience were nice. Photos of the beer selection were far better than the beer selection, not recommended for beer lovers.

Our food was excellent but the location and the view are the main reasons to come here, and they are truly amazing. Parking can be a little challenging so bring your patience, but this place is definitely worthwhile.

Location was great. Food was good but the flatiron steak was a bit tough.

I had a salad. It was only lettuce dressing & chicken. It was pretty bad. There was lots of lettuce, burnt chicken and salad dressing from a bottle. I had been there before and the food was much better.

The beach view was fabulous as we just caught the sunset. The restaurant was very noisy however, I could hardly hear the waiter. Food was very good and would recommend the restaurant for a special occasion.

Excellent service, but felt the food was a bit overpriced for what you got. The shrimp and grits I had were just ok, a little too fancy for my taste. My date thoroughly enjoyed the Cioppino, and yes, it was very good. Ambiance takes a nosedive after dark, as the beautiful view of ocean beach disappears Our waiter was terrific. All in all a good experience. Would go back for sure.

Had a nice afternoon lunch with friends. Have been to the Beach Chalet several times - usually for a brunch with the family. A nice venue and good food.
