B.B. King's Blues Club - Memphis Ratings and Reviews
We went for Valentines. Food great and really good band so enjoyable. Not loud at all. So many on Beale Street you can hear three stores away. Not here. Janae our server very responsive and helpful. Chicken fried chicken w Mac & Cheese and side of gravy to die for. We’ll be back.
We arrived and were seated right away at a table to the side of the bandstand and a view of Beale Street. Our waitress took our drink orders and told her to bring us the catfish bets with comeback sauce right away. If you haven't had these I highly recommend!!! Our waitress was extremely helpful and gave us all the info we needed to make our orders. My wife had the shrimp and cheesy grits which she just loved and I had a rack of ribs and Oh My, the sauce was out of this world. The sides were also wonderful and didn't leave much. Our waitress kept our drinks filled and was there for anything we needed. We got to the restaurant about 45 minutes before the band (King Beez) started playing and we were not rushed out the door after we finished eating but instead, welcomed to stay as long as we wanted to enjoy this great music and perfect atmosphere. This place is a must when staying in Memphis and will want to come back during your next stay.
We specifically drove to Memphis from Chicago to have ribs at BBKings Blues Club and hear great music performed by the All Star Band. The ambience was energetic and fun. I didn't expect too many people there since it's February (the streets were empty during the day) but BBKings was packed, most likely because of the entertainment! The food was good, and the blues music was excellent.....All in all, an enjoyable evening.
I have used OpenTable numerous times to make a reservation and loved it. This time was different. When getting in line I told the bouncer that we had a reservation, and he looked at me like I was crazy. He said that they don't do reservations there but we could go inside. Once inside I told the front desk staff that we had a reservation for 4:45 pm. He said that we should just wait over there and they would seat us. We waited, and waited, and waited. I eventually asked the host if we should have received a paging device so that we could be seated. Had the nerve to roll her eyes and tell me that she gave it to my husband. She didn't give anything to my husband. So I requested one, and again told her that I had made a reservation through OpenTable for 4:45 pm. I eventually got a paging device and stood there for 45 minutes waiting to get seated. About every 15 minutes I would ask the host where we were at on the list because I HAD MADE a reservation at OpenTable. Each time an eye roll and was told I was next. The server then went over to the bar where my husband was standing and chose to rub her backside on his hand that was resting on the top of one of the bar stools. OKAY. Husband thought that was stupid, so did I. Eventually we got seated almost an hour after the scheduled time. Other than the front staff, the vibe was great, food was awesome and service from the waitress were on point. Front door staff could use a little more training on customer service.
Loved the southern food..grits, catfish, rice with crayfish, tender, delicious ribs.
Music was so good. We drove to Memphis for this experience and it did not disappoint.
The hostesses and wait staff were pleasant and helpful.
Families with children were welcomed.
The food came quickly..nice and hot.
I would visit again.
The wait staff was Perfect and friendly on helping with the menu items and real quick to bring the drinks. The food prices and portions were Horrible. It's nothing special. Plain food you can get anywhere. We split and tried several different things that sounded neat and good in the menu. When it came to the table it was nothing special and nothing you can't get at your local Popeyes....
We came for dinner but ended up just ordering the nachos (so good! they have bbq sauce on them!) and catfish bites (and the slaw was amazing!) We REALLY enjoyed the live music and the food - what a fun evening! We’ll definitely come back if we visit Memphis again!
Great music atmosphere. Food is good American fare we weren't there for a fancy meal - the music was the attraction. Good idea to book ahead to get a good table especially if you only have a limited time in Memphis. Be aware that there's likely to be a cover charge I(c$5 pp) to get in as well as the cost of the food and the tips for the waiting staff and band.
We were very surprised that there was a cover charge to get into the restaurant for our dinner reservation. Having just arrived from Nashville, where all bars and restaurants have free entry, this was annoying. We quite happily and generously tip the bands but having to pay for entry, and then seeing that the band had their tip bucket out, I’m wondering who this cover charge goes to?
We got a pretty mediocre table, considering that we made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance. We saw “walk-ins” get much better seats.
The food was very good, and our waitress was also very good.
Music was energetic but MUCH too loud, esp at 7pm. Where would the decibel level go from there?
I have been visiting Memphis for more than 10 years a few times a year for Work and leisure. I always schedule trip around seeing Memphis Jones . You can not get All a Memphis has to offer without his show. Seek him out. This just happens to be a great restaurant and where I’ve been able to track him down the last few years. Great food great service and AMAZING entertainment. Memphis Jones or
BB KINGS never disappoints.
Skip the dining and go for the music only or you will be thoroughly disappointed. My friends and I meet at BBKings once a year and stay in Memphis for an all-out weekend. our highlight is always BBKings....until this time. the old Mr. BB King died and this place has rapidly declined in food and service. It is not even close to the standards it used to hold. I wont be back until they correct it and go back to the proper portions and excellent food that made them famous. you can hear the blues anywhere on Beale Street.
