Bazille - Nordstrom Palo Alto
Bazille - Nordstrom Palo Alto is our approach of an upscale yet casual restaurant, located on the third floor of Nordstrom, near the At Home department, in the Stanford Shopping Center. The French doors and exhibition kitchen create an energetic environment that reveals a stage for our chefs to prepare uniquely designed dishes. The Cilantro Lime Shrimp Salad and Bistro Club are two of our top sellers. In addition to the menu, we also prepare outstanding food & drink specials on a weekly basis. We have a great selection of wine & beer available, and the house made desserts are must!
I was surprised at how good the food and service were. The flat iron steak was perfect and the fries a solid 10 out of 10. These chefs are really good. Prices were lower than comparable restaurants downtown. We had dinner for two with desert and a bottle of wine for $93. Our waiter was great. Attentive but not intrusive. Warm and helpful in choosing menu items. I never thought of a dept store restaurant as a place that I’d want to go to when not shopping but this is an exception. We will be back.
Service wait staff needed some experience in customer service ….needs to know the difference from a casual lunch to a business.
We were impressed with the ambience of the restaurant and the quality of the food for the price asked. We drove down to Palo Alto just to have the French Onion Soup which a friend had had the last time we were there. It was perfection, just as we would have expected in a French bistro. The cheese and bread on top was as it should be, as was the flavor of the broth. My baby spinach/apple/Manchego-cheese salad was excellent, as were the Deviled Eggs. The service provided by our waiter, Ruben, was exceptional. Everything he did was perfect; he answered all our questions and was very polite. Kudos to the kitchen for executing such great food and for Nordstrom's for having such a great restaurant in their store. We had a great lunch!
This was a girls catch up birthday lunch. We stayed longer and never required to leave. Our server was excellent wish I had gotten her name. It’s our go to lunch place!
We like the surroundings and some of the waitresses and the hostesses as well. Prefer a booth- quieter.
Overall greAt food in nice setting
Usually they’re really great. But I don’t know if it’s the holidays, but the food took forever and it was pretty cold by the time we got it. They had no specials, only one dessert and they were out of the pasta we wanted. The server didn’t come back to refill our waters. It wasn’t particularly busy, so not sure why service and food was bad.
Consistently great food! Never ever disappointed! Yum! I always order the Asian glazed chicken salad and it's always perfectly delicious!!!
I got my soup after everyone at my table finished theirs
Very good food & service with somewhat high prices. Reservations are suggested, as this is a popular lunch spot for shoppers. The crab bisque and kale side salad were tasty, as was the chicken Caesar salad. It took a while for our entrees to be brought to our table, but the waitress refilled our beverage glasses frequently. I would definitely return to Bazille in the future.
Good variety of food w/ some nice healthy salad options. It depends on patron mix, but the noice level at a Saturday lunch was so high it was hard to hear my luncheon guest.
Service needs improvement, too noisy, booths uncomfortable
We all chose seafood entrees and all were delicious. My 92 year old mother had the crab, mango and avocado salad; she normally eats like a bird, but ate every morsel on her plate! My husband had the salmon Niçoise salad and enjoyed the change from the usual tuna. I had the cilantro lime shrimp salad and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the other ingredients and the dressing created an ideal flavor blend. Our server was wonderful also.
Very good food and service and a convenient location for Stanford Shopping Center customers justify slightly high prices. My wife and I enjoyed a mango & chicken salad as well as the French Dip sandwich with tasty French Fries.
A recent menu change eliminated many of my favorite entrees, such as crab macaroni (replaced by a $21 lobster macaroni), but there are still enough choices to satisfy most diners. Service was friendly and attentive. I'll happily return to Bazille some time in the future.
The menu offers a variety of tasty dishes--everyone can find something that they will love. We appreciate the quiet atmosphere so that a friend-get-together is easy to hear everyone talk.
Melissa was great as usual as was the food. Always great to see the staff!!
Over cooked my hamburger.
Sent it back.
Still over cooked.
I ate it, too hungry to wait.
Very good, food is always great!
My salad was tasty but the whole dinning experience was uncomfortable because of the music blaring in the background. Instead of something soothing so one could relax with their lunch and be able to carry-on a normal talking voice conversation, the music was way too loud and "energetic." It's too bad because as I said the food was good if pricey.
Like the restaurant, and have been quite a few times, with the same friend for a few years.
Understand change in management, so sadly miss some of the old menu items.
Also surprised that I couldn't request hot milk for my coffee, rather than cream, since
there is no espresso machine, which was in itself surprising and disappointing.
Also, I had asked for a quiet booth through Open Table, and was taken to a booth just inside
the door and next to the bussing station. I asked for a booth in the backroom, and we did get
moved.
So... my score is about a 6.. Food good. Service pleasant, Ambiance decent. Your major asset
at this point is convenience. You could do a lot better.
The previous Nordstrom Café was far superior to its new iteration. My Caesar salad was small, very much over-dressed despite asking that the dressing be light, and rather than traditional thin slices of Parmesan, the salad was served with ridiculously finely shredded Parmesan cheese. A tiny, lone anchovy was inadequate to add anything. My wife's salad was equally pedestrian, though she added a piece of chicken to it which was done nicely. Fortunately, the Provencal Rose that accompanied my meal made up for the rather mundane menu and very average food. Fortunately they still give diners a delicious little chocolate mint stick with the check. It helps.
According to our waitress, they are coming out with a new menu next week, reverting in some instances to some of their previous successes. I hope this is true, as in the past the Café at Nordstroms Stanford has always been convenient and reasonably good.
My mom had the crab, mango and avocado salad. The bread they served with it was super hard, there wasn’t much crab on the salad and my mom still hungry after she ate it. The lobster Mac n cheese was good, but could have used more flavor. Service was excellent, food not so much. We won’t be going back anytime soon.
Accommodating, great for my 91 and 96 year old parents. They are picky and diet conscious.
They had salmon salad and Mongolian beef.
I like the crap salad. The salad is very good, portion small.
I had lunch yesterday with my mother. Food and service were totally fine. I had the Asian Chicken Salad and she had the Shrimp Salad. The presentation and flavors were good. The service was a little abrupt but decent. We were in a hurry and didn't look at other options in the center. It's fine for a quick lunch if you're at Nordstrom. It appeared that most of the diners were employees. That's not a complaint, just an observation. The place is fine, totally fine.
This used to be Nordstrom's Cafe. the menu items are pretty much the same as before the name change. Items have been re-categorized on the menu. Prices have gone up. Service today was okay - nothing worth noting as outstanding.
Crab Mango Avocado Salad pretty good. I wish the salad were bigger. Not enough mango and it was in minuscule pieces. Skipped the plain toast that came with the dish -- what for I don't know except it filled up space on the plate. Asked for fresh bread -- that was good. The bread pudding was moist and sweet -- I'd order it again. Had to ask for refills on the drinks. Overall service was pretty good.
Good food, very good service, and prices a bit on the high side can be expected at Bazille. I enjoyed the crab/mango/avocado salad and a side of French fries, but am disappointed in the new menu at this restaurant, as many of my favorite lunch entrees are no longer offered.
Bazille is a good choice for dining when at the Stanford Shopping Center.
Very disappointed in what used to be the Nordstrom Cafe. Favorite pasta menu items are gone. Asian Chicken salad was very, very salty, missing breadsticks that used to be included and had way too much dressing. Service was spotty - some staff were great, some ignored us. Used to be a family favorite - no more.
The salads were wonderful - fresh, tasty, and beautiful. Would be nice to have a some bread along with the salad. Not sure why it's not offered.
As usually they are great!! Service outstanding. I little bit pricey but it is ok. That is Nordstrom standard!!
I took my son to dinner last night. I have loved Cafe Nordstrom and have been many many times. The new Bazille is awful. I ordered a small gem caesar salad and was met with a huge plate with lettuce and so much dressing it was crazy. The anchovies were huge and didn't look right, the dressing was sour and the breadcrumbs from the croutons were everywhere. It looked disgusting and tasted worse. The kids mac n cheese has also been changed and my son took a few bites and thought it was bad. We were the only ones in the restaurant that early and the servers were on their cell phones by the kitchen and not attentive. I won't go back. So sad because it was a favorite for our family.
not happy with new menu, liked the old one better
don't like you raised the prices
The food was really underwhelming and not worth the calories. Although, I do appreciate that the calories were listed. For a quick meal while shopping it is good, but don't expect more.
I ordered the crab, mango, avocado salad which should be renamed the mango, avocado, and HARDLY ANY CRAB sandwich. There was one tiny piece of crab and I had to ask the waiter to bring me some crab. The baguette, which was really a crouton, was so salty as to be inedible. What a disgrace and to charge so much for it.
Not liking this new menu! GO back to the old one where you could do some shopping and stop in and have a nice salad or sandwhich!
While the Caesar salad and turkey Club sandwich with fries were satisfying, I was disappointed to learn that Bazille does not serve crab macaroni as it did when the restaurant was called Cafe Bistro. Prices are also significantly higher, which reduces the value factor.
Service was very good, and Bazille is most convenient for dining when at the Stanford Shopping Center.
Great service!
The menu was changed recently and my guest took the time to review the online menu to know she wanted to order. Unfortunately the online menu is not current with the in cafe menu.
We miss the risotto dishes from the previous menu. Please bring them back.
Crime brûlée was delicious!!
Warm Asian chicken salad wasn’t as good as before, and service was lacking.
Bruschetta / burratta appetizer was good and nicely prepared. Margherita pizza was delicious. The service was really great and we love the woman that was taking care of us! A piece of hair on the rim of our plate (dessert). My son's crab salad was sub-par. NO vegetarian entree items, not even a vegetarian salad option, hard to pay the price of a protein on your salad and not receive it. No mushrooms in house either, so again, need to bring the menu up to standards for folks that choose not to eat meat or seafood. Or make a great house-made veggie burger?
