Bazille - Nordstrom Fashion Island
Bazille – Nordstrom Fashion Island is a full service restaurant located on the first floor of Nordstrom Fashion Island in Newport Beach, at the intersection of Santa Barbara and Newport Center Drive. Our casually sophisticated atmosphere features bistro cuisine and a dynamic wine list.
it is a nice, quiet place. they were out of a few items on the menu but there were other good choices. will come back to try again.
I just love coming here. It's quiet enough to actually hear everyone at the table. Great servers (although they seemed to be out of beers on their menu), great food (my husband LOVED the french dip sandwich, I love their calamari and cauliflower), all around very pleasant and easy and delicious.
Loved all the veggies dishes ... just delicious! Great service, quiet enough that we could easily chat.
With a name like Bazille, one would expect it to look more contemporary. Looks like a higher-scale Denny's, but food was good.
I’m over Nordstrom Cafe in South Coast Plaza ! No matter what time you make a reservation. There is always a wait even though numerous tables are vacant inside the Restaurant !
The service has become a joke ! It was better in the old days when you ordered at the counter and the staff delivered your food !
The prices have become outrageous for what you get and the protein sizes have shrunk down to nothing !
The last two times I have eaten here, My order was messed up and I only ordered a Salmon Salad with no capers and dressing on the side ! It cane covered in capers ! When it was sent back after waiting another 20 minutes, it came smothered in dressing ! I gave up and didn’t eat !
My partners steak was tougher than shoe leather !
I used to be a regular, but now I am over it !
Also the Ebar is never clean ! The tables are always dirty and your shoes could stick to the floor !
You can always rely on a Bazille for a very good meal at an OK price.
This restaurant changed its concept several months ago and it’s just not good anymore. The service was so awful. One of us ordered a bowl of soup as our entree - it came out to the table within 2 minutes, and not with the rest of the entrees. We sent it back! The waiter was clueless. Overall, the quality of the food was so average, I wish I had saved my money and stayed home. I ordered the salmon with couscous. The salmon was small and over cooked on one side and undercooked on the other. Gross. It just isn’t the same good quality, cozy atmosphere they had before it became “Bazille”. Sorry, Nordstrom, I won’t be back ever.
Every single thing we ordered was delicious! A bargain for an amazing meal.
The Nordstrom cafe is better. The service was good. The entree choices were ok. The food was ok. Wasn’t impressed. Will not be eating here again. Would rather eat at the Nordstrom Cafe’s.
We are regular Nordstrom Bistro Customers (dine in all Orange County locations, in Austin and wherever we travel) and were extremely disappointed tonight. Today they changed the children’s Mac and cheese to a yucky cream sauce that had black pepper in it, the children’s grilled chicken came with potatoes that were too hard for children to chew especially young children the green beans weren’t cooked all the way. The French fries we ordered came to our table cold. We had to stand up to get our server and a manager’s attention on two separate occasions.
We used to come here often, and loved the French dip sandwich, salads, and desserts, but this visit none of the food was very tasty. The pan seared chicken was bland, and served with a very tiny portion of shaved Brussels sprouts, and grape halves that tasted like fermented grapes. The corn chowder was good, but the daily special dessert of cherry creme brûlée, was like a small spoon of bland tasting goop in a tiny crust, no custard texture or crisp top or cherry flavor. Our server was terrific and professional. Maybe they are trying to accommodate salt free, taste free foods, we just don’t enjoy the flavors they are serving now.
I really like the food in the Nordstrom Bistro's but I feel it is getting very expensive for what you get as the portions for any protein have gotten very skimpy in all the local restaurants, almost ridiculously small for instance. I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese which is really delicious but for $21.50 +Tax -= $22.73 + 20% Tip = $27.28 for maybe three very tiny pieces of lobster. I feel totally ripped off. It's the same with the salads which over the last few years I have seen a steady increase in price and it's never a 2% inflation increase and a steady decrease in protein portion size.
Maybe the management feels it is a smart move to actually put the screws to the customer by raising the price, and decreasing the portion size, but it does not go unnoticed by the patrons.
Nordstrom’s has changed their restaurant. It is now called Bazille. The menu has changed and not for the better. A lot of old choices that were great are gone. I ordered a salad that I have ordered in the past, and it was mostly arugula. The crab, mango, etc. was sparse. We were very disappointed and won’t go back.
There are several restaurant choices at Fashion Island and I chose Bazille because my experience in San Jose celebrating a birthday was great and at this location they do not even celebrate birthdays according to the waiter. I wish they had told us that open checking in and we would have gone to celebrate my daughter's birthday at another restaurant. We were not even asked if we wanted dessert so I guess maybe you do not offer dessert. I have dined at Bazille in the San Jose Bay area often and was not disappointed as they have delicious desserts.
