BayLeaf Redefined Indian Cuisine
We love food and serving people. Our diverse group chefs execute their passion for cookery quite well in the kitchen. Right from the point when you enter the restaurant, we make sure you have a magical time. Scrumptious food, or the tempting feel, we make it all perfect for you.
Come join us in having a Redefined Indian Cuisine experience!
The food is flavorful, however, if the dish is supposed to have chicken (for example), there is adequate sauce, but not enough of the main ingredient. Also, each dish should arrive with a separate bowel of rice, since there is a lot of sauce.
The food is consistently very good. The seasonings are just right! The staff is ALWAYS friendly and attentive.
The staff was very friendly and courteous. The food was seasoned nicely yielding very flavorful dishes. The portions were average. We especially like that it is a BYO restaurant.
Very nice menu selection, vegetarian and non-vegetarian. They had goat which I like and don’t often find. Overall, a great experience.
The food was outstanding. We had a variety of dishes and all were very tasty. Parking was very easy and they were not super busy. It was dinner so there was no buffet which was fine for us.
The BayLeaf is a town gem! Modern decor, friendly and attentive service and excellent food!!!
Great food and service. We keep coming back!
Why are the tv screens/sports shows on though? I think it ruins the ambiance and makes it feel less like an authentic Indian restaurant and more like an americanized pub.
The wait staff was very attentive. Location is great for South Orange. Good Indian food in a quiet space. The staff was most interested in whether we were satisfied with the "spice" factor of our food which I thought was very nice. It showed real concern about providing a good dining experience for their patrons.
Went here for late night dinner. Nice ambience, fairly casual and quiet dining. Food was delicious and the service was good.
Food is not authentic... too much food color is used to make the curries look unreal. Definitely not Indian cuisine.
There was something wrong with the food. Me and my wife both got a stomach ache and an upset tummy after having the food.
The service is impeccable and the food delicious every time we have been there. This is our go-to place when we have family groups visiting our daughter at Seton Hall. This time we enjoyed the samosas and goat curry in particular. Everyone was happy. From our 'mild' to 'spicy' diners, each person's meal was seasoned just as requested
The food was great a little spicy!! I would reccomend this place.
While the buffet is a value meal, the heart of the restaurant and clearly the Chef is found on the Menu.
Bring a bottle of wine move beyond the family friendly space to transport you - while the Samosa are plump, crisp and standard, the golgappa - bite size plate of 12 crisp morsels with dabs of yogurt cream were memory making!
An order of Paneer Tikka Masala did not need the obligatory rice- thickened with ground cashew ... was the perfect match for the Aloo Gobhi , tender cauliflower also simmered in a ground cashew thickener ...the assorted breadbasket over fed our group of four and regretfully left no room for a desperately wanted Gajar Halwa🤷🏻♀️.
Service was friendly and professional!
Austin took great care of us. Awesome food and great service.
Delicious fresh tasting Indian food, friendly and helpful service, attractive ambiance.
The food was delicious
The servers were interested and friendly
We will return
Food was very good, but they were no where near staffed appropriately. People were walking out. Give it time maybe.
Clean cozy restaurant
Solid Indian cuisine
Small error on our order was corrected albeit slowly
Service was a bit harried could use a manager on the floor
I was very disappointed on our first visit. The place was pretty empty on a Saturday night (not a good sign). The owner was very pleasant but the server kept forgetting things (like our order, our drinks, when we asked for containers), called us "you guys" about 30 times, and - although pleasant - was pretty useless. Our appetizers arrived, followed about 3 minutes later by our main course. So, our table was overcrowded. The four of us all found our dishes overcooked, and there was little meat in our main courses drowning in sauce. The three dishes with sauce - and my friend's biryani chicken - lacked flavor, as if everything has been dumbed down for an American palate. I love ethnic food, particularly, Indian food, and am always hopeful when a new restaurant (or in this case a refurnished one) opens in the depths of suburban New Jersey. So, I really want the place to succeed and hope that this one trains its staff better, gets the balance of the dishes right and sticks around. But the dishes are a little too pricey for a take-out and I am not sure I will return unless others tell me it has improved.
The food was great. The wait staff was lovely although they could use a bit of training. They are likely college students and perhaps beginners so I post this only to help them improve. The appetizers came out with the meal. This should not happen. They also picked up the tip from the table before we were standing to leave. It is better that they ask “ do you need change?”
We will be back and I have already recommended it to others. Again, I write that the wait staff was sweet and attentive so we were not bothered and left a worthy tip. Other guests might feel differently.
Best to your restaurant as it is a welcome addition to the area.
They didn’t have our reservation when we walked in, the food was mediocre at best, they got items wrong at times. I’ve eaten here for lunch at the buffet and thought the food was great. They really missed the mark for dinner.
It's a pretty new restaurant. Food was always good; service and general operations were a bit scattered at first but they've settled into the groove. Highly recommended.
Very attentive staff.....
Food ..TASTELESS......better to pick up frozen entrees from Trader Joe’s.....
Chicken Tikka Marsala.... tough, hard to slice cubs....
Aloo Gobi flavorless.....
Best part of meal was the rice.....
We left the plates untouched...
The server said she’d adjust the check....10%‼️
Sorry....best the eat elsewhere.....
Lovely from he monent we walked in. They knew it was our anniversary & brought us free dessert. They asked how spicy each of us wanted our food, and abided by our choices. Gave us a senior discount too.
The decor was very nice. The staff friendly, but the service was very very slow.
The food was good but could have been hotter. We waited so long that we were afraid to send it back because we needed to leave for an event.
To the staffs credit once we pointed out how slow things were and that items requested not delivered , and that the waiter never checked on us once the food was delivered; they apologized and adjusted our bill.
We will try them one more time in a month or so.
The service was o.k. It is a new restaurant, sovthey have to get their act together. The waiter brought warm, flat, ginger ale. The waitress brought my lassi me then went back for my friend's.
The portions were skimpy, lots of sauces, but not so much beef, lamb, and shrimp for the price.
Some dishes were better than others, but samosas came with no sauce. Naan was good.
Might give it awhile and try it again, but they didn't look over eager to please us, andcwe're nit difficult diners.
