Amazing food and drinks , the wagyu bone-in ribeye is out of this world
Unbelievable food. Must get the spreads - they each come with a different bread and it is so special and yummy. Servers were very nice. Mocktails are also quite impressive. Overall delicious. Inside did seam noisy and hard to hear. We sat outside.
The food was innovative and delicious, especially the four appetizers and hummus that we shared. The lamb neck entree, also shared, was very good too, although intense (maybe too much garlic?) The service was very face-paced, almost frenzied, starting with a proclamation on our greeting that we had to finish in 90 minutes. Our server said the 90 minute limit was required by the health department but I could not imagine a rationale for that (why stir up more movement and interaction?). I later checked online and saw the health department had that limit for bars (which on reflection makes some sense) but I could not find that limit specified for outdoor restaurants. I sensed the fast pace was driven by the restaurant's desire for turnover, but I think they need to relax it a bit.
Not the experience we have expected. The biggest mistake the restaurant made was to not take care of the tent dining area. First off, the tent we were taken into, was literally a white tent. It was not "decorated" to Bavel's praised decor and from the corner we sat from, we could see how dirty the once white tent was. Second, we could smell sewer even with our masks on the moment we sat and it stunk like this the whole entire time. We were unsure if we were eating the acclaimed Bavel's delicacy or sewer food. CLEARLY this told us that neither the owners and management take care of where people are seated. They only care about the palate experience and not about a whole dining experience where ambiance, decor, sound, and even surrounding smell/aroma are important grading factors to many.
Bavel is certainly an LA treasure in the cornucopia of restaurants around the city. Even in pandemic times it still maintains its quality and service above all. There is always knowledgeable staff involved, and great bites on the menu. First time trying the entrees and the lamb shwarma was incredible! Recommend staying for dessert too!
I like to try new places with my fellow foodie friends. Food was great.
One of the best food experiences I've had in a while! Everything was great about the restaurant as far as the vibe, but the food, as it should be, was the stand out of the night. The mains were incredible, and I have to say the desserts went toe to toe as far as flavor. Like nothing I've had anywhere else....if you want a unique eating experience then this is the place.
the food is always absolute perfection. Did not love spending that much money and seated in a parking lot under harsh lights....casualty of covid. Luckily the food is delicious and next time I'm there, I'll be seated in a better location.
The food was spectacular. The service was ridiculous, juvenile.
All the food we had was delicious, and our server was very knowledgeable! A wonderful experience, well worth the price.
Loved the food and the wine. The experience was great
The music noise level was absolutely too high. If I am paying that kind of money for food, I expect to be able to have a conversation without shouting or not being able to hear my friends. It’s so low class to have that level of loud music for such an amazing restaurant. My waitress was a bit meh but I always tip 20% anyway. Amazing busboys and helpers though.
The food was even better than I remembered and the experience as a whole was delightful. The baba ghanoush and the fish are a must!
Have been here multiple times & each time has been amazing! Such great and attentive service by everyone. The food is astounding! Everything is so fresh and aromatic. Highly recommend for any dinner event!
I'll be dreaming about the breads and spreads.
Excellent as always
Love this restaurant! The only downside was the seating situation...understand it is covid and love the outdoor dining options but the parking lot seating could have been dressed up a bit better given the quality of the restaurant. Most people were complaining and asking to be moved. We rolled with it because we were just excited to be out honestly but could have been a nicer situation to make it feel a little less like a parking lot dining experience when you are spending that much money
Everything else was AMAZING and will be back. Service was excellent, food was excellent, wine recommendation from our server was fantastic so overall nothing but good things to say
Don’t miss out on the mushroom kebab; it’s magical. Don’t bother with the lamb flatbread; it’s forgettable.
Incredible experience— bummed we were in the parking lot, but the food was delicious, servers attentive and personable, and excellent adherence to COVID protocols. Bavel remains one of my favorite restaurants in LA and I am thrilled they are open again!
Incredible food and service!! We all had a great time.
Food amazing, service amazing. Ambiance was not great as we we were sat at a make shift table in the parking lot
It was freezing cold outside & they didn’t have sufficient heaters and some of the heaters didn’t work well. If we were sat indoors or on their patio it would’ve been the best experience
Food was excellent! Big fan of Bavel
The dips, appetizers and cocktails are AWESOME, can skip the main dish.
Ambiance was great, and Food was absolutely delish, would definitely recommend.
Food was spectacular, but service was incredibly poor -- especially at that price point.
everything was perfect. food wine space all lovely
We loved our waiter/sommelier who gave us the best recommendations and provided options we didn’t know were possible. The food was perfect as always.
The food here is incredible, so flavorful and so much depth and thought goes into their wonderful dishes. This is the kind of spot that always leaves you craving more. Top 3 spots in LA. Every time I bring people here they can’t believe they had missed out on it. The fact that it’s a husband and wife run restaurant makes it even that much more special.
Truly nothing exceptional. Portions are small - prices are high. When we finally got seated two of the five entrées were already sold out leaving me to have to order items I didn’t necessarily want to eat. Their pita bread was excellent though, I’ll give them that. The Fattoush salad was decent but nothing exceptional. Wish I had tried more of their specialty items but I guess they just didn’t make enough. Kind of disappointed as It wasn’t easy to get a reservation, and as it was I was there at 9:45 at night.
One of the best meals I've ever had in Los Angeles. That Wagyu Ribeye is next level.
Loved every minute of it here!! The food was mouthwatering, the service was perfect and the ambiance was vibey. Looking forward to going back for sure.
Absolutely amazing the food was great. I was worried about it being covid safe but it was perfectly spaced out
Simply delicious. Our entire party enjoyed every dish ordered. Specifically, the texture of the mushroom kebab was insane and needs to be mentioned. Get it. Wonderful dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend and will absolutely return!
The food was amazing! And Tom gave great wine recommendations. We will definitely be back.
Consistently great service and food. Amazing ambience
Bavel has been a favorite of mine since the day it opened. In 2018 and 2019 it was among the top 3 most visited restaurants for me. I have missed it so much. Being back was delightful! I dreamt about the duck hummus, malawach, whole prawns with Tzatziki, the cocktails, and that gorgeous room for over a year so my triumphant return was glorious! Thank you Bavel and welcome back!!
This was the best meal we've had in a while. Great to see them reopen and thriving despite the limited capacity. Look forward to our next visit!
Great experience! We loved it for a girls' night! Tasty cocktails, delicious food, beautiful ambiance (we sat inside) with great service, once we were seated..20 minutes later than our reservation (only hiccup). But understandable, given how yummy it is!
Delicious and amazing delectable food!
