Winter Tomato Sauce, Smoked Mozzarella
Fontina, Parmesan Custard, Besciamella, Winter Tomato Sauce, Basil
Love the locale, building and ambiance. Dishes were hit and miss. Entrees were missing something that would make them great, almost there. Service is ok. Ambiance and facility make it a place to go.
Very nice place foods are excellent
Parking and access are very convenient
With reservations, 3 of us were served promptly
Wish the music was not that loud we can hardly hear each other
We came to Battalion for restaurant week, and we loved everything we ordered, but we were especially wowed by four specific dishes. The house marinated olives were really different, meaty, and delicious. The cheese and beef/pork meatballs (more like meat squares) were divine, and the shape enabled them to be really browned and develop a nice crust. I've been dreaming about the spinach dumplings since we went there. We actually got them only because our main courses came without sides, and we thought we'd need something extra. We really didn't, but I'm so glad we ordered these anyway. Next time we go there, this is definitely what I'm ordering! The last amazing item was a salty caramel flan with some kind of reduced cherry sauce on top. It was different, but the flavors really accented one another, and it was so creamy. I'm glad we finally tried Battalion, and we'll definitely be back.
Ran out of the fish☹️. Great place for 1st dates. Service is always wonderful
Went for restaurant week and the food was fantastic. Will be back
The food was delicious! Great size portions, delicious drinks and desserts were amazing! Highly recommend Battalions!
Micah was an attentive server, who explained additional ingredients and accommodated food allergies and particularities by placing chocolate and sauces on the side.
Our second time dining at Battalion. This time we took advantage of the Culinaria Week special menu.
Our food was delicious and server was excellent. We will definitely be back soon 👍
Nathan our server was exceptional! As was the food and the entire experience. That’s why we are regulars!!!
We love it there and really enjoy the food but the noise level is painful. That’s why we don’t go there more often. We like that they have outside seating now. Really need to think about doing some noise abatement!!
Great food and experience. We tried the restaurant week menu and it was a great value! Always have a great time here, and wonderful food. I would recommend it for a date night or any special occasions.
Visiting from Denver, absolutely wonderful experience last night. Everything was delicious and the space is beautiful, thank you!
Just amazing ! Food , atmosphere and service ! Best dining experience I’ve experienced in a long while!
We decided to kick off restaurant week with Battalion. It was SO good. Our server was amazing, made perfect recommendations, kept the food coming without making us feel rushed, and never let our wine glasses go empty. Our food was incredible. It was a perfect evening.
Great place. The parking no so much. Says five dollar parking but you pay, then get a ticket for 65. Almost not worth it
Great atmosphere, amazing food!
Thought we would order from the Resturant week menu, nice meal for a reasonable price without losing quality. Should have ordered the pasta to go with chicken parmigiana. The tiramisu was delicious
Impeccable service and the best eggplant parmesan I’ve ever tasted! I will be back to Battalion as often as possible.
Received amazing service from Brandon. His recommendation were all on point! This was our 3rd time there in the past 3 months and the food is ways AMAZING!
Katy’s service was top notch with all areas. She demonstrated knowledge of the food and drink menu as well as the wine list. Every dish came out with perfect timing. The flavor combinations were superb on the spinach ravioli as well as the mushroom pasta. We had the lamb chops and Ny strip both perfectly prepared to order. A new favorite for our family when in San Antonio.
Great ambience! It’s quite dark in the restaurant and the paper menus are in very small print but the entire meal and service was amazing!!
Brandon was a great server and he made that night very enjoyable.
I loved battalion. The food was delish and our waiter was informational and kind.
My only drawback: We did have a reservation, we arrived on time (about 2 minutes early), and our table was not ready and we were told to wait.
However, the food and server was so great that we forgot about this eventually. It was a rocky start but great night.
Has to be at the top of the list of best restaurants in the entire San Antonio area! Food was unbelievable! I’m a foodie that’s traveled all over the country and Battalion is Elite!!
Loved the ambiance! Waiter was great and explained the a la cart menu since it was our first time. The food was great but we ordered way too much food. Would highly recommend.
We love this restaurant! Located in a fire station, the interior is incredible!
Energetic, comfortable, and artfully decorated. The food exceeded hogh expectations. we had eggplant parmesan, green beans, carrots, glazed pork chop and bibb salad. The pork chop was a generous portion, juicy and perfectly cooked. The carrots with feta and mint were delicious. The eggplant was sublime. Excellent flavor, well blended tomato sauce and perfect amount of cheese. Battalion is a definite must to visit! Our server was pleasant and attentive but a bit slow on refilling water and checking on beverages to go with dinner. Overall 5 stars.
Food was outstanding and service excellent. We ordered a vieux carre and a Negroni from the bar that were perfectly made. Sloan was our server and she was delightful and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back again.
My son and I went on a date to Battallion. The look on his face when he bit into the spinach dumplings was the highlight of the night. Sloan offered us excellent service. All in all a wonderful experience.
Great place would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy great Italian food with great vibes.
Dining upstairs recently, it was a little dark. Could have turned the lights up a little, with even our younger daughter had trouble seeing the menu. Atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious.
One of San Antonio's culinary gems!
Great service and food. Nice ambience. Excellent vegetarian options.
4 of us had dinner at Battalion. The food at Battalion was very good. The salads were good, I had the pork chop which was very good quite tasty. The girls split the salad and their dish which included eggplant parmigiana, which they said was very good. My Brother in Law had the chicken parmigiana which he enjoyed as much. We additionally had carrots & potatoes as side dishes, along with the meatballs as an appetizer. Cocktails and wine with dinner. The wine list is fairly extensive. Be aware that you might want to bring along a flashlight and a small magnifying glass to read the menu and wine list as the lighting is extremely subdued and the print is extremely small if you want to see the subtext explaining what the actual dishes include and what the wines actually are.
Waitress very helpful on answering questions about the menu. Food was amazing and the The A Side drink was to die for. Will be going back when we visit San Antonio again. The fact the it was a old fire station was a highlight.
Innovative takes on classic Italian dishes. Reasonably priced.
Kitchen was a little slow and not coordinated. Entrees not served at the same time.
What a great intimate place for a special dinner. The food was unbelievable. The service was top notch. Great suggestions, followed by quality food. I will definitely go back.
Service was very good but several dishes were more spicy than we expected and less appetizing in general. It was a bit disappointing. We liked our waiter.
We were looking for Italian food- the portions are very small even though the waitress it was for 2 people to share, I understand this is supposed to be a “ fancy” place but to eat out of a desert plate is ridiculous. I’m a worldly traveler and also understand that American portions are huge compared to other countries but to think that the portions are shareable is a bit unreasonable.
Waitress was quite dry but efficient and that’s what I needed since I was not in the mood to socialize- just wanted to have dinner.
Would not recommend or go back.
For the price I would go back to Fogo de Chau or another steakhouse.
