Too damn loud. Could not have a conversation with friends I had not seen in a long time.
Entrée was brought out lukewarm and was immediately taken back and a new one prepared. Food was very good. Service good except took long time to replace entrée. Very noisy but an interesting place formally a fire station. Other than high noise level worth returning.
My dad’s birthday, hostesses were sweet and told him happy birthday right when we came in. Server was on top of everything and we always had water and our table was always cleared so fast. Food was amazing and filling and I love the interior— it’s a lovely space.
Outstanding food and very cool atmosphere
The food was amazing !
Birthday Celebration. Excellent food and staff. We had the watermelon salad, spinach manicotti, lamb chops snd chicken parmesan. All outstanding! We will definitely be back.
This was our 2nd visit. My husband and I went two weeks ago for the first time and EVERYTHING WAS WONDERFUL!!
We invited friends to join us because we were excited to share, but this time the noise level was so loud we were yelling across the table to talk.
Two of us ordered the trout and it came out room temperature almost cold as if it had been sitting for a while. My husband and I ordered the same pasta dish we had the first time, the triangular pasta with the creamy tomato Bombay gin sauce and it had a completely different flavor this time :(
The order of the food to our table was offer as well.
All in all we were disappointed but we will give it another try.
Our server was very good, the manager came to apologize for the food being cold and removed the charge from our tab. She was very kind and professional.
We will give it another try and hope they can work out the kinks, we really like supporting the new food industry and want them to succeed 🤗
Wonderful food, service and overall experience.
Overall, super good evening. Only downside is noise level. Given all concrete interior, no sound buffering mechanisms. Very difficult to carry conversation over table for six.
Great server who explained the menu up front. Tbe portions were large and the cauliflower was EXCELLENT, my favorite. The chicken parm was just good, nothing special. Enjoyed the restaurant and attentive service.
Delicious food, prompt service, reasonably priced. We will definitely return.
Wacey is the best! Thanks for great service, everything was made and served to perfection. It was superb.
Katy, our server was outstanding - very attentive and patient! The food was delicious!!
As usual Battalion never misses, the food is incredible. Eggplant Parmesan, Chicken Parmesan and the best of the best....spinach Dumplings.
This is our go to place every couple of weeks for a romantic dinner. Service is always on point, and the atmosphere is never stuffy.
If you have not tried Battalion, please do, you will be overwhelmed with wonderful food!
We had seen high rating for this place so thought we would give it a try. Wow! So glad we did. Octopus appetizer, wonderfully different. Main course, in our case, trout with, wait for it, black-eyed peas, great. But do not come to this place without ordering at least one of the spinach dumplings! To die for! Overused phrase, but for this completely applicable. Great service, presentation, all the rest! Eat here. You will love it.
Service was okay, although our waiter was a little forgetful & we had to ask for things multiple times. Food was just okay, perfectly fine but didn’t not live up to the menu descriptions or price tag. The restaurant was SUPER loud, not a place I’d take anyone I want to actually talk to.
Great experience and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a place that provides a bit of uniqueness to their food.
Everything about the experience was amazing. I can’t wait to come back.
Bar area is too loud for conversation or enjoying a dinner. Food was inconsistent, first course too seasoned, second course had no flavor.
Dining area almost as loud as bar area, too loud!
Decided to try Battalion with friends and had a 6:30 Tuesday reservation. The food was very good including gorgonzola gnocchi, burrata, spinach manicotti, and especially the veal shoulder. The kitchen was very accomodating for one of our party, putting Parmesan Truffle Cream sauce on the Manicotti instead of Pomodoro sauce, and this turned out to be excellent. Alex did a nice job taking care of us. If we return to this restaurant, it will be very early in the evening because the noise level makes conversation very difficult, including with the server, which is a shame for a restaurant with food of this caliber.
I’ll be very honest when we first pulled up I wasn’t sure I made the right choice because from the outside the building looks very plain I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in that it’s actually a very nice and well put together restaurant! Truth be told I don’t know how I feel I like the idea that it’s incredibly unassuming from outside therefore keeping it kind of a secret but at the same time I feel if they spruce up the outside it would let people know what’s inside is definitely a gem!
Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and offered suggestions, which we appreciated. The food was excellent. We will definitely return to try other offerings.
Wonderful in all aspects
Highly recommend getting the Buratta and Chitarra d' Oro if you like spicy. The Arsonist cocktail is quite tasty. Wacey is a great Server, and parking next door is very reasonable at $5. I would avoid the eggplant Parmesan. The first time we got it, it was arguably the best we have ever had (saying a lot for vegetarians). It was thinly sliced with a soft center, and flavorful crunchy breaded exterior. The second time we got it, the pieces were thickly sliced (3/4 inch on one of them), with hardly any breading. The breading had been what had given it such a great flavor the first time, and the thickness the second time made the center chewy and crunchy (like it hadn't been cooked enough). We took 3/4 of it home and ended up throwing it away.
Both the steak and trout were amazing. This is the place you want to impress someone.
great place to eat and enjoy company! food was delicious and service was outstanding!
A good friend of mine told me about this restaurant. I am huge Italian fan, and they did not disappoint. Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in San Antonio. I definitely can’t wait to come back again.
Excellent food and service. Noise level borderline tolerable for older folks with hearing "deficiency." But worth the moderate inconvenience. Go with friends and share small plates.
Great fun, unique environment, good food.
Yes would recommend for drinks and apps. The dinner was cold. It’s the 3rd time we’ve been and food from menu has been ok. Drinks are always good!
The food was excellent! Portion sizes are large and the food is filling and delicious. Also, for the price, I'm truly impressed by the amount and quality of the food and service. Great place to go! It is a little loud and hard to hear in there due to the acoustics. They did have some outdoor tables that I'd love to try in nice weather. Unless you can park on the street for free, parking was $5 in a lot next to the restaurant. Overall 5 stars! We will go back!
Food and service were excellent. Noise level is too high. Playing loud background music doesn’t help.
Very cool restaurant and the food was outstanding. Service was excellent, I highly recommend.
Great double date night!! Food was great, ambiance was fantastic! Overall win!
Was great! Thank you!
Great atmosphere and ambience. It is a little loud and hard to hear, but we all loved it!
Burrata appetizer is a must. The pasta is the best in San Antonio!!
The food here is very good! The only challenge is that it's very hard to hold conversations at your table due to sound not carrying well in the building's interior.
