Located at the "Gateway to Southtown," the Historic and Majestic Firehouse #7 is home to Restauranteur Andrew Goodman and Chef Stefan Bowers newest concept, Battalion. After a nearly two year renovation, "The Rock" has been restored as the crown jewel of Southtown. Overlooking the spectacular downtown cityscape and the famous Tower of Americas, Battalion's contemporary design merges perfectly alongside the historic building's strong, yet weathered 1920's craftsmanship. Chef Bowers has created an extensive menu of fresh pastas, char-grilled meats, stunning vegetable dishes and Italian classics. Complimenting the menu is a comprehensive wine list and a refreshingly original cocktail program.

Excellent food and great service. Not cheap but the lovely restored fire station and atmosphere made it worth it.

Dining at Battalion was a very cool experience. We enjoying the unique atmosphere and the architecture of this renovated firehouse turned restaurant. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable, and our food was delicious. A def must do while in San Antonio!

It was difficult to hear the waiter explain the menu because the noise was so loud. Was not aware that it was a family style servings so was not prepared. Would have preferred to order my own food then to order different ones and share.

Setting was wonderful. Old firehouse towards the south end of downtown San Antonio. Service was exceptional, but was upstaged by the food. Everything is done family style, but the portions are small enough to enjoy several items. The Pastas definitely stand out, but leave room for at least one main course, as they are exceptional as well. We enjoyed the Lamb Chops. Specially crafted cocktails were great as well. An amazing new find in San Antonio. Very much worthy of a quick return trip!

Overall neat building. Food was average with smaller portions. Wine selection was good. Good experience overall (not great) but probably not somewhere I’d come back to.

This is one of the best Italian food that I’ve ever tasted. I like the spicy goat ragu pasta, tiramisu cake, spinach artichoke dip, and the A side cocktail. My date liked the T-bone steak. Overall, it is an awesome experience though a little pricey. Recommended for special occasions or a fancy date night

Absolutely awesome restaurant. We were in town from the Midwest for work and found this place. The meatballs paired with any pasta dish is exceptional!! Our waitress was amazing and very knowledgeable about her restaurant! Highly recommend this place.

We ate there once before and it was pretty good. This time the food was below satisfactory and food was cold and Brussels Sprouts were very undercooked. Very very disappointed, we will never go back nor will we recommend!

Absolutely love this place. The food and service are amazing. New change I didn’t like was that the parking which was always free is now $10 to park. Since Battalion doesn’t have their own parking there was free parking right next to the restaurant. Unfortunately this is not true anymore. It would be great to see the restaurant do something about this.

Unfortunately I didn’t know they only serve Brunch at 2:00 pm on a Sunday. We made reservations in Mother’s Day to have lunch in a Italian Restaurant and I only found pancakes and eggs in the menu. Very disappointed!

First time at their brunch. Everything exceeded expectations. i wish they had more pasta on their brunch menu because that's their best dishes on their menu. Everything is delicious though.

Definitely for the younger crowd! A twist on Italian food, really different. Great waiter, Christian!! Ask for him. Dining room was Very loud and has low lighting.
We sampled a little of it all. The spicy Calabrian pesto served with fresh ciabatta bread, it was ok, mostly tasted the peppers in it not the eggplant etc. Shared the spring panzanella salad, it was ok, our drinks were powerful, The A Side, and the FH7; shrimp crab diavolo was very good with four large shrimp and enjoyed dipping bread in the rich sauce! The tomato lasagna was nice and not heavy tasting; milk braised pork, very tender but way too salty as it also had prosciutto in the sauce; orecchiette, Again way way too salty as it had anchovy in it. And Christian told us that it had anchovy even though the menu didn’t. Cherry Italian soda was nice and the large portion of tiramisu, all I could taste was chocolate nothing more, so my husband ate the whole thing minus the one tiny bite.

Website says free parking but it isn't free. Only $10 but seems like they would update their website
Table wasn't ready at reservation time
Entrees were served separate
Lasagna was ice cold
Had to ask for 2nd drink 3 times and it was 1/4 foam when brought to the table

It took a gin martini to overcome the noise level!!!!!
and the only available $10 public parking. Really no break on your meal tab when you aren’t providing parking?
The food was only so-so. My grilled octopus appetizer was cold but the Spring panzella salad was delicious. My husband’s grilled trout was only mediocre. The grapefruit tart and coffee were excellent. This was our second visit. Too many other better restaurants in SA for us to come back

I always research before I go out, so I knew what to expect. My boyfriend not so much, so he was very pleasantly surprised. Our server was very knowledgeable and the food was perfect! Everything is meant to share for two. We ordered one thing from each category and it was the perfect amount for us with a little left to take:) we also ordered a bottle of wine and dessert and our bill was about $130. Definitely a great value! I was told the noise level can get up there because of the way the building is, but it wasn’t too bad for us. We sat upstairs. Loved it and will definitely be back soon!

Had a very enjoyable experience - service was spot on and food was excellent. Another delight was the fact they had two of my favorite Italian wine varietals which are Falanghina and Aglianico on their wine list. Ordered bottle of each for the table which our guests thoroughly enjoyed and had never before experienced. Plan on returning soon.

It was my first time visiting Battalion but won’t be the last. I loved the shareable plates which give everyone an opportunity to have an incredible and expansive dining experience. The food was amazing from appetizer to the main course. We did not have room for dessert, but did enjoy Battalion’s house limoncello after dinner.
The service was friendly and efficient. This is a ‘must dine’ on your list!
