Bâton Rouge Steakhouse & Bar - de la Montagne Ratings and Reviews
If you want to taste something different from the sauces and rich French food in Montreal this is a good alternative. Down home ribs, steak with a strong American influence dominate the menus. Lots of wood makes for an attractive interior. This is not a high end, fine dining establishment but a fun and comfortable place for a change of pace.
Our party was in Montreal for one over-night to attend a concert at the Centre Bell. We had reservations for 3:30 but arrived at 2:15. We were immediately seated and was assured that the dinner menu was available at that time. From that point on things only got better. Service was prompt, the chef stopped by to be sure we were happy with the meal, and the waiter was timely in suggesting additional cocktails, etc. The prime rib was exceptional!
I really love Baton rouge because the restaurant is large in space so its usually quite and the volume of music is just perfect. Great steak, the color of the meat is perfect, juicy and multiple options of 28 days dry aged beef. I love to take my wife their also recommended for dates.
Noticed that their appetizers are not that great. I recommend to stick to the main course and desert if you are still hungry.
Thanks for reading
This spot gets really crowded on Hockey nights. We went oh a whim as we were craving for their lobster poutine. We tried their tuna salad which was really good and their classic ribs. We shared the three dishes and we were really full so no desserts! *pat pat* for skipping the sugar
Baton Rouge is a reliable restaurant for a nice hot meal. This location needs a few cosmetic upgrades - my booth seat had a huge tear which was really unsightly, and the tables need refreshing. The ribs were great, the salad was terrific, as was the steak. My dessert, red velvet cake, was adorned with dried cranberries, which I found a little odd. My companion LOVED their brownie!
They ran out of beer before we got there thanks to the Pre-Habs Game rush. No draft and no bottles left. Said the city turned off the water. About 45 minutes later we noticed another table have beers delivered to them. The server checked on us so many times while eating it was almost creepy and uncomfortable. And even after checking on us so many times he forgot to tell us when there were beers available. Would not go back here nor recommend it to anyone. Should have gone to The Keg.
I am from NS and had been to BR in Montreal, once before. This last visit was disappointing. The steak did not have a lot of flavour or nice grill marks. The restaurant was empty and the staff seemed lazy. The plate was filled up with a giant baked potato and few vegetables. I think this restaurant needs to improve to match their competition.
Our server seemed a bit over eager to present the specials. Several times the servers interrupted our conversations to come to our table, ask questions and put food on the table. They were unable to put our dishes on, the table in front of us. We had to pass it around. The evening was very quiet, so we could have had great service, yet it was very poor.
We came to watch the game, we expected big screens. The TVs were not really visable from upstairs so we asked to move downstairs. It was nice that they were able to accommodate. We could not hear the game AT ALL!
Food was delicious. Seats were comfy. Temperature was nice despite the cold outside. Will certainly come again.
First off, when all our meals came- 3 of them had to be sent back. One steak was supposed to be medium-was rare. The salmon was supposed to be crusted with applewood smoked crust- was not crusted, the sweet potatoe fries were freeZing cold. My fiancé sent his meal back as well so that he could eat with the rest of us when ours came back. The 3 meals were corrected but then my fiances steak was cold. They took it back and proceeded to reheat it. It was then overdone.
It took 3 attempts to re-do his meal. The manager rudely came over to ask what a rare steak is to him. At the end, the meal was not removed from the bill,
And our bill had extra $10 surcharge per meal for "event" pricing which was wrong. We left very unhappy and upset.
I have been to the Baton Rouge before, but not this location. I tried the lobster risotto during their lobster season and it was pretty boring. It was loaded with corn that you would have though it was a corn risotto. I tried my husband's pork ribs and they were just OK too. I was looking forward to the warm brownie, but it was actually pretty gross. If I decide to try this restaurant again, I won't be going to this location.
We came back to Montreal for a visit after 10 years out west and Baton Rouge was one of the things we wanted to do. The one at Decarie was closed and we decided to visit the de la Montagne one which is right next to Bell Centre and across from the Sheraton we were staying in. I started with the Lobster Bisque which was so-so. The ribs was what we came for and it didn't disappoint - tender and great flavourful sauce. I had that with the lobster summer special … fantastic!
I used to go to Bâton Rouge Décarie, i was really surprised, There is a big difference between the Décarie one and the De La Montagne, i am so disapointed, the plate were almost empty, my steak wasn't Pittsburgh, the service was not friendly it was like you accept it or not, i really didn't like my expérience in the Bâton Rouge De La Montagne. I am not sure to go again Bâton Rouge!
The ribs, which seem to be a staple were just okay. The staff was initially alert but attentiveness fell off during the meal even though the restaurant was not busy. I would think twice before visiting and find another restaurant to spend your money. The price of most of the entrees seemed a bit much.
