Executive chef Aaron Ward (ex-Sixpenny and Shell House), recently awarded 2 two hats in the SMH Good Food, works closely with producers, farmers and fisherman that all have a great ethos on producing quality product for the guest.
For Ward, cooking is all about the guest experience and breaking down the barrier between the kitchen and the guests.

    Nice restaurant near the beachfront. I don't know. Its the middle of winter and they have dishes more appropriate for summer. Had the beetroot entrée, nice but not great and had the whiting for main, again was sous vide which meant it was very light and lukewarm in temperature. Just doesn't seem right. Side dishes not great either. Dessert was all cold dishes except for apple tart which was for 2 people only. We don't drink alcohol and $600 for 4 people. They never seem to get it right either here at the restaurant or the bistro.

    The 2 course weekend meal had lots of options and our selections were beautifully presented and delicious, great value for money considering the quality of food and service.

    Bather's is a great place to spend time. The location and view are great, the food is of a really high standard and the service is excellent - always there when you need them, just enough explanation of the food and really considerate on interrupting the flow of conversation.

    A lovely restaurant with very attentive staff (though not over-attentive). My partner is a vegetarian and there was one dish each from the starters and one from the main to choose from. He said they were both very good. I had the whiting for the main and I was disappointed in the lack of the actual fish, which was 'fused' with a mousse of something (scallop??). Found it a bit tastless, which was disappointing as whiting is a lovely fish.

    What are experience, on a whim we travelled to Balmoral.. this place exceeded all expectations. From the minute we walked in the door the staff were friendly and inviting. The ability of the staff to engage and make the lunch extend and be full if great food and wine.. will be back and recommending to all.

    Managed to get a rez on Easter Weekend at the last minute. We had the tasting menu, along with the wine flight. It was all paired perfectly, and there were dishes my husband wouldn't normally eat, and he thought were outstanding.
