James Beard Foundation BEST NEW RESTAURANT 2015 - Drew Nieporent’s long commitment to Tribeca continues in the space that housed the legendary Montrachet with Michelin-starred dining at Bâtard. Chef/partner Markus Glocker’s modern European menu reflects his Austrian heritage and diverse experiences (Gordon Ramsay, Charlie Trotter). One of the finest restaurants in NYC. The burgundy- centric wine list is a real treat and a great value. Truly inventive cuisine and expert technique makes this our favorite.

I highly recommend the « caille en sarcophage » for those who remember « Babette’s Feast / Festin de Babette) on the menu as pithivier - a veritable « délice »

Amazing meal! Service was excellent and food was delicious all around. We did 4 courses and split the soufflé as our 4th course since we wanted to try everything. With the great portions this was a ton of food and would probably just edit to 3 courses in the future. Absolutely recommend the soufflé though to end the meal.

probably my 5th time at Batard and really like the vibe, service, food and value. Nice selections of wines. Would like to see more American wines however.

Auf Empfehlung eines Freundes des Chefs buchten wir einen Tisch für 2. Und ich muß sagen, alle Erwartungen wurden übertroffen.
Service excellent , Qualität der Speisen excellent, Harmony perfect, Optik der Teller ein Traum.
Als Geburtstagsgeschenk bekamen wir Salzburgernockerl auf das Haus - Danke !!! Wir kommen wieder !!!

Exceptionally bad service. Indifferent at best, rude at worst. Very poor pacing. Very poor communication. Very rude at times. Much too loud. Good food though.

From start to finish an absolutely wonderful dining experience. The staff is extremely accommodating. Great corner table. Started with the oysters and foie gras Then the striped bass and duck breast. I was planning for dessert but we were both completely full so settled for two Irish coffees.

Batard is a classical French restaurant in NYC. Excellent scallops. Good foie gras torchon. Don’t miss the duck breast. Ambiance very agreeable. It is open only for diner. The only problem is the menu price very expensive.

Dinner was fantastic. The food was amazing. Everything tasted great. Our waitress was really nice and she made sure we always had wine. We will go back for sure.

Absolutely amazing food! Presentation was fabulous and the food was beyond delicious, cannot recommend this place enough. I brought my boyfriend for a surprise and we both loved every dish we did. The menu is great in that you can combine which courses you want. Will definitely make this a regular on my NY trips and have already recommended to friends and family! Thanks Batard!

One of our favorite restaurants in NYC! The sommelier is amazing and really helpful and we have had awesome wine you can’t find anywhere else. The food is SO good you can’t stop thinking about it. Get the duck!!

All three courses were sublime. Packed with flavors that hit every tastebud.

Accommodated my birthday with a free desert and a card wishing me a happy birthday when we got in.

Just had a problem with the atmosphere (the seating). We felt like we were too close the guests next to us and in their conversation.
On our part we should’ve told the staff about our check. Two of us didn’t get the fourth course but were charged.

I highly recommend this restaurant for people who want to delve into Michelin starred restaurants.

Really excellent meal. Everything was well-made, the sommelier recommended a lovely wine that was within our price range, and the desserts were terrific. (The breads are outstanding as well - we couldn't stop eating them!)

Batard
Foie Gras – My favorite dish of the night – the granola added a nice crunchiness, the sauce added a nice sweet taste. The foie gras itself was thick and lightly salty, and quite a surprising amount. The toast it came with was also delicious.
Pork Belly – Didn’t like this dish as much. The meat itself was quite dry, and the fatty part felt like a separate part of the dish rather than one delightful bite. I wanted a bit smoother combination
Red Snapper – Really nice fish – fresh, tenderly cooked inside and a little bit crispier/crunchier on the outside that was infused with flavor. It was nice and light, and definitely rounded out the dishes for the night. Interestingly, I found it much lighter than the Foie Gras, even though this was an appetizer. The quail my friend ordered was also delicious, but much, much heavier.
White Chocolate Citrus – Delicious desert – the sesame ganache on the bottom was crunchy, the ice cream was sweet and light, while the blood orange added a hint of sourness that added a nice contrast.
