With capacity for up to 430 guests, we are a very popular spot for corporate events, holiday parties, and private buyouts. Our interior capacity is 215, and we can accommodate another 215 on our 3,600 bricked patio, the largest in downtown Houston.View Private Dining Details
We selected Batanga based on previous experience. It was disappointing the service we received was poor, as we brought family and friends to celebrate a special occasion. A little extra attention to service would have been a game changer. Hope this will help for future experiences.
Very impressed with the entire operation. We were greeted and taken care of immediately. The staff was super friendly and kind. Even the other guests were friendly and played with our baby girl. The food was exquisite. Never felt so full in my life.
First time that i dine here for lunch. Very few tables occupied, but the music was still very loud - a bit hard to have a conversation - not for business lunches. They were also during the whole time decorating the celing with Halloween decorations (climbing a ladder) so it took away from any possible ‘nice lunch’ ambiance. The food was very good as usual. Our server was not on top of our table and we had to be calling his attention for almost everything we needed. We were not even ever offered drinks. I wanted a soft drink and at the end we all just settled for water, wich was brought promptly after we sat in our table. I had a good time because the group was very engaged in our conversation, but beside the food the restaurant did not offered anything to look forward to go back for lunch.
Food was great, the only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is that it took about 15 minutes for my party and I to get a waiter. The restaurant was not busy at all and I had to get up and look for a waiter to get serviced. After that service was great and food was amazing just as ordered.
Was a little disappointed in the food selections. This was our first time there but have been to another tapas restaurant. The food wasn't seasoned as good as it could have been. The only thing that stood out were the Limpias. They were delicious.
Over all it was a good experience, most of the food was very good. Unfortunately 6 items we ordered were never delivered to us so we missed out on tasting those. Also, our waiter was hard to get ahold of, wait times were long. Also, I wouldn’t recommend the cocktails.
I was surprisingly disappointed by our visit to Batanga this time. Despite having had a reservation for days and a wide open restaurant, we were seated in a dark corner and they wouldn’t move us when asked. Our server had trouble with the order, it was too dark to see, and the quality of food seems to have declined. Disappointing overall.
I don’t usually like to leave reviews and I especially hate leaving bad reviews, but I just wasn’t thrilled with Batanga. The outdoor dining area is what drew our attention to check this place out, and while the umbrella Patio made for cute photo opportunities, the food itself left much to be desired. My friend and I traveled into town from The Woodlands for an adorable Sunday Brunch and I can honestly say that I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for brunch or any meal. It’s not the worst place ever to have existed, but there are just so many more fantastic options in town to get delicious food any time of day with a fun atmosphere.
Service was horrible rsvp a table of 8 for my birthday dinner. We sat for a good 20-30min without any server coming. Finally we got up and asked for a waiter. The food is very small portions, they brought out one persons fold st a time so everyone else sat at the table looking hungry while others ate. They messed up drink orders. Honestly only good thing was the music.
Strange - server seemed somewgat uninterested in serving us.
Nice place to go in a date or for a special occasion! The food ks really good but a little bit expensive.
Patio looks great and probably would be when it is cooler. All the tapas we ordered were very good, but one. The one was a bit over cooked. Service is good.
This is my new favorite place. The food is excellent. Small plates so that we can try everything! Lots of gluten free options too!
The host and wait staff are very professional and courteous.
Thank you for a very memorable evening!
We love this place it’s always our go to for dates, and special occasions and typically we sit outside. We chose to sit inside for this event and unfortunately the AC was not working we spent the evening fanning each other and sweating it was rather uncomfortable we cut our time there short so we could get to someplace cooler (temperature wise) but overall we love it!!
The food never disappoints at Batanga. It's a great lunch spot to meet up with either a friend or group of friends. We typically order a few tapas for the table to share and then we order more or just order an entrée. They have a variety of cocktails to choose from that don't break the bank! Batanga has the best patio in Downtown, so when the weather is nice it's the place to be!
Second time there - food is amazing, so is the wait staff, however I had problems with the hostesses both times. I had reservations on both occasions and felt misplaced both times.
First time for two, the hostess told us they didn’t have room for us and asked if we’d sit at the bar. We opted to sit outside because the weather was somewhat cool. Not a big deal.
Second time for four, the hostess put on a visible show of annoyance. She squeezed us into the smallest four top in the restaurant (this table would comfortably fit two at most), right by the door. Our waiter, awesome service, asked if we’d like a larger table (which we jumped at) and we were moved. Hostess then stops waiter to inform him another group had reserved the table and we were moved for a second time.
I seriously felt like I needed to pull out the Seinfeld bit on reservations. I love tapas and genuinely enjoy going to Batanga, but I leave feeling like I’m putting some of the staff out when I show up.
Love this place! It never disappoints. Brought two friends who had never been and they agreed it was great! The food, the service and the atmosphere all top notch!
Outstanding. We had a large group and everything was spectacular.
OVER ALL THE RESTURANT IS A NICE SPOT TO EAT N RELAX....BUT THE WAITER WE HAD JUST REALLY WAS POOR OF SERVICE HE SUCKED THEY NEED TO TRAIN THAT SPECIFICALLY THAT WAITER HOW TO WORK TOOK THE WAITER 30 MIN TO GET ME A BEER...SAD BUT TRUE
The food was great and the service too!
The Sangria was good also!
Outstanding food and service!
We went on a Sunday night, which is half price wine night. We had the eight-choice tapas and we really enjoyed our service and the ambiance. A great find, and I would really recommend Batanga to anyone who wants a casual fun environment!
Hostess awesome. Really unique drinks. We ate before the theater. Problem...food this time. I ordered chicken skewers with plantains. Chicken had no flavor at all. No marinade. No dipping sauce. Like you stuck a bunch of raw chicken cubes on a stick & grilled it. Now, my plaintains... you only get two slices and 1 was BURNED. Waitress bought me more. But, honestly, this order is not hard to prepare and cook.
Service was really bad the waiter sounded like he didn’t know the menu or the drinks took forever to take our order we spend like an 1-1/2 and he only came to the table 2 and on top of that one of the drinks had a long piece of hair and when I told him about it he just took it and didn’t ask if we wanted another drink .. it was awful .. the food was good .. we been wanted to go for a while and when we decided to go it wasn’t what we was expecting ! Bad service
Love this place! A bunch of wonderful little bites for a light memorable meal.
Service sucked - ordered 3 items at the same time and only one came out. The other 2 never showed up at our table. Waiting 30 minutes and asked where they were - they didn’t know......when we asked for the check to leave the waiter was rude.
Finally finishing off and leaving proceeded to be told that the valet for the restaurant charge $15 even though no sign is up for price but to park here at the valet! Ridiculous
Hostess and server very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere and setting are nice. Unfortunately the food was only "so so" quality, actually not a very good value for the price in my opinion. The steak was mostly inedible and the salmon was over cooked. The manager at least gave me a small break on the steak which was a nice gesture. The desert and drinks were pretty good. If I went back it would probably be for a drink and maybe an appetizer, not an entire meal.
Very slow service. Wrong dishes were delivered, some dishes were not delivered at all, and an entire tray of incorrect cocktails was brought to the table. Our server was inattentive; we had to ask repeatedly for a check and twice a hostess had to track our server down. When the check finally came it read (no kidding) that our total was $216,000. The food was good, but based on this experience I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion.
Great service and we had the restaurant week menu. The bacon wrapped dates, garlic potatoes and trace leches cake were all excellent.
My best friends 30th Bday went great. Food was good, service was good. Accommodated our cake and balloons. Very smooth experience
Terrible food but a great hostess! Really disappointed as I’ve been before but the food has gone downhill since
OK but on the blah side of things. Food was uninspired --the description on menu were more enticing than the actual dishes.
The overall service was bad are server was ok super busy with the amount of table he has but super nice. It took and hour for our drinks to come where we finished dinner and still didn’t have our drinks.
Will return later for an evening of drinks, food and music.
Thought we'd give this place a second chance and brought family visiting from Toronto. Music was way too loud, even though we sat outside. The speaker kept going off and on. We preferred it to stay off. Our server seemed to forget about us a few times. However, other servers kept bringing us food we didn't order. Had to get out own plates and cutlery and chase down our server to pay the bill. This dining experience shouldn't have taken close to 4 hours, but it did. Now I remember why I don't eat there on a regular basis. We won't be back.
Food was outstanding, as were the drinks. Please add a few fans because summer in Houston is tragic without any air movement. Otherwise, great place.
First, I had a reservation, but the hostess scowled when I said I had a reservation for two - like I was bothering her to find a table for two. The rest of the service was great. They came by often and got us what we needed very efficiently. The music was too loud inside. It would have been better on the patio, but it was mid-July and hot as hell. Still a great experience. I'll give it another shot in cooler weather.
We love batanga! The food, environment, and vibe are great!
The service was so horrible we didn’t even order our food. The restaurant was obviously short handed, but there was not a preemptive apology about the wait being longer than usual or anything to make us aware that service/ wait time may be a bit delayed. The waitress was very annoyed when we asked if she could help us with drinks. We also had to ask her for menus to order food which annoyed her more. By that time we figured it was best if we leave. There was a manager on duty who was more occupied with opening a box of wine than being attentive to the guest that were not receiving service. This is a HUGE disappointment to me and my friends as we love the food, service and atmosphere at Batanga. Who knows maybe the box of wine got opened and all went back to normal once we left.
Service was great since it was after happy hour. Portions can be small but food was good overall.
