With capacity for up to 430 guests, we are a very popular spot for corporate events, holiday parties, and private buyouts. Our interior capacity is 215, and we can accommodate another 215 on our 3,600 bricked patio, the largest in downtown Houston.View Private Dining Details
The service was so horrible we didn’t even order our food. The restaurant was obviously short handed, but there was not a preemptive apology about the wait being longer than usual or anything to make us aware that service/ wait time may be a bit delayed. The waitress was very annoyed when we asked if she could help us with drinks. We also had to ask her for menus to order food which annoyed her more. By that time we figured it was best if we leave. There was a manager on duty who was more occupied with opening a box of wine than being attentive to the guest that were not receiving service. This is a HUGE disappointment to me and my friends as we love the food, service and atmosphere at Batanga. Who knows maybe the box of wine got opened and all went back to normal once we left.
Service was great since it was after happy hour. Portions can be small but food was good overall.
We sat outside and it was great. The inside had a strong (I’m not sure if it was incense or what) smell that gave me a headache. The service was great. Our waiter gave amazing recommendations and everything tasted great. I will definitely go back and recommend to my friends.
It was a bit loud and hard to get service at times but the food was delicious.
Everythibg was great except the hostess. She was very rude and seemed like she had an attitude. That is the only downfall.
Gathering before a concert. Service was slow in the beginning but we understood they get a big crowd all at once. Server was helpful & food was great
Service was not attentive until he brought the check and then he waited at our table until we reviewed the tab and provided a card for payment. Impatient and rude. Food is mediocre at best. The patio is the only thing enjoyable part. Ive been here several times and consistently poor service.
I LOVED the singer on Thursday he has a beautiful voice and the band was wonderful; although I only saw the singer.... (not sure if it was a 1 man band :)
Very disappointingibreallybwanted to like this place as a friend had been and had a great time
The ambience is good on the Patio but inside was too loud to hold a conversation
There was a band but the mixing was terrible as the instruments drowned out the singer’s voice
The drinks and food were nothing special
Food portions were tiny and flavor was lacking given the prices
I know this is a tapas bar but they could do better Grilled octopus was 1 very small tentacle which wastasteless
Campachana was mostly ketchup
Ceveiche was also tasteless
I am very familiar with Spanish/Latin food and I would suggest they get a new chef
Drinks (Pisco based Moscow mule) that were recommended by the server were nothing special
Server was nice but was hard to find toward the end of our time there
It’s been a while since I was there, but the food has gone majorly downhill. Portion size of ceviche was small for the price, campenchana was like watery salsa with a few bits of crab in it, potatoes bravas were undercooked, ribs had no flavor, etc. The ambiance and the waitstaff attitude seemed to be that of a casual restaurant, not the higher end price point I expect from Batanga.
We ate here for lunch as we wanted tapas and have not eaten here for lunch. They have a nice outdoor seating area, but we had already walked around in the heat for two hours so we ate inside. We had the mushrooms, cauliflower, and pork ribs tapas. They are all good, but we have had better tapas elsewhere. I would certainly go back as I would like to try dinner and the sunday brunch.
Our waiter was wonderful!!
Celebrate my graduation
Food quality suffered under the dinner rush.
Despite having this reservation confirmed with the request to sit inside they would only offer us seating outside in the sun - it was 96 degrees outside - are you kidding me. We again explained and showed the reservation and all they did was to say “sorry - we booked everything inside for a special event.” If they had done that, why did they accept our reservation? They could have called or canceled it and We could easily have made other plans before paying $12 to park. Not happy at all and not going back.
We had a 5:45pm reservation and were seated outside. Our server promptly took our drink order and brought the drinks. That's the last we saw of her. After waiting 1/2 hour, we asked another server to get our server. He took our order and the food came out in stages. Our server never checked on us. Quite a wait to get our check. We weren't quite sure who our server was at this point. We finally flagged down the second server and asked for our check. It was brought by the first server. We waited again and had to flag down the first server to get the credit card run. Finally, we were able to leave.
The food was very good but the service experience was awful. I would not come back here again. The food was not exceptional enough to override the poor service. I was generous at two stars.
The kids wanted to take their mother here for Mother's Day. This is not our first visit as it is a great place and worth the hour drive for us. We enjoy the atmosphere and the food is awesome but your hostess acts as if she could care less if we were there or what we wanted as our table. I would recommend a friendly, outgoing, and helpful hostess to greet your customers.
We had a reservation and when we arrived the restaurant was nearly empty and we were told we would have to sit outside on a blistering hot night. They did finally accommodate us inside but weren’t very welcoming or friendly. My drink was good. Food was okay, the quail and empanadas were probably the best dishes we tried.
great experience as always and great service. Our waiter went above and beyond to provide a wonderful experience for Mother's day. My only complaint was the portion size for a few plates was a little disappointing.
Came for a Mother's Day brunch before attending a performance at the Hobby Center. Although the food was good, the dishes came out at very different times. We each ordered a brunch menu item, not meant to be shared. We had 6 guests. The last dish came out 20 minutes later than the first dish, and one of the dishes was cold and the rice was not completely cooked. It was sent back and returned cold again, but with cooked rice. Overall value was good.
I went with a group of friends to Batanga for the brunch on Mother's Day. Ordinarily a poor quality dining experience might be excusable on that particular day because of the crowds, but Batanga was not crowded so there was no real reason why it took almost a hour for us to get our food and none of it came out at the same time. The kitchen was so slow that it was necessary for the Manager to comp our meals. He did what was appropriate. The food was very good so it is a shame they were so unorganized. I probably won't go back.
the accent and theme of the restaurant is consistent and smooth, Food is full of flavor and unique spins on classics... but the sunday brunch buffet for the price of $29 not including mimosas, was a little over priced with only a small amount of choices and small plates.
Nice date atmosphere
Arrived early and no one was there. Hostess sat us next to a big party. Wanted to move tables but she refused. Spent a hour and a half there and restaurant was still empty. I didn't see why she couldn't move us. Decided to try new foods and when we didn't care for them they didn't offer something else. It was a waste.
My boyfriend and I went to Batanga on a Friday night. There was great outdoor seating - I highly recommend! There was a DJ playing Latin music outside which was really great and enjoyable. The tapas were great. I recommend the mushroom croquettes and ceviche. The sangria would be better with more fresh fruit. Overall, it was a great experience (and our waiter was awesome!)
The happy hour menu is a great deal! The only complaint I have is that we were automatically seated outside instead of picking a table. We were told that the inside seating was all reserved but when we left, there were plenty of empty tables inside. At least it was not too hot outside.
I truly enjoyed the vibe at Batanga. The wait staff were so amazing and attentive. The fresh Raspberry Sangria was refreshing on a hot day and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend.
Showed up and they told us they had one table in the back corner and that service would be slow. There were open tables throughout the dining room. Been before and enjoyed it but this was a bizarre experience.
Food was horrible, service was poor... I have no idea why people go to this place
Everything was just ok. We won’t be back.
I’ve always enjoyed Batanga, but the service on Saturday was just awful. I would understand if it had been a busy brunch rush. However, I believe there were two other tables when we arrived. My friends eggs Benedict was very over cooked and the English muffin was rubbery. One of my dishes was wrong, but that was remedied in a somewhat timely manner.
Overall, just not the experience I’m used to having in this restaurant.
It was super nice and relaxing!
Great time, good food, good mojitos. Service was excellent. Definitely going back.
Great Happy Hour. Mojitos, sangria, and house wines for $5.00. Food includes nachos, sliders, flatbreads, fish tacos. Food is good, but the prices make them even better.
Our waitress was sweet but we needed more people for a table of 18, also the food took forever to get to our table
Management was very accommodating for seating our party or 12 and service was fairly good. Great ambiance and music. Good variety of food, but it was just ok for flavor.
Cozy spot in Downtown with a great patio. Wine selection was good. Tapas were tasty! Will definitely go back :)
Love this place!! Food is always amazing and the love music make for a great time! Perfect place for a casual date even if it's a first or 15th date.
Great food !! Wonderful service and lovely music. Many tapas with tons of selections.
Great ambiance on patio with live music on a Friday. Tapas, so mostly small plates
Some dishes great, some less so, but nothing outright bad. Great service. A cool place to hang out or have romantic date. Will definitely return.
