It was awesome. The noise level is always too much but I guess that’s what restaurants like these days ... not so great for older people with hearing issues but oh well, the food and service were excellent
Such a disappointment. We were there for steak frites. We went to Bastille last year for the same, and one of our party ordered her steak “blue” and it was served medium.
She wanted to use the gift card they sent her, so we returned. Not only was her steak cooked medium rare instead of blue, another person’s steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium. That’s 50% of our table’s food cooked wrong.
Three of us sat waiting for the fourth to be cooked the right temperature, our steaks and frites getting cold.
Basically, no one seems responsible:
Our server took our order.
Someone else delivered the food but didn’t check the ticket before serving it.
The cooks got 50% right, 50% wrong.
Who’s overseeing it all to ensure we’re happy with our food? No one.
They gave us a small credit on the bill in addition to the gift certificate for last year’s mistake.
Although MY steak frites was perfectly cooked, I don’t plan to return next year. It’s too stressful.
P.S. It’s 2:45 am. It seems the decaf wasn’t.
We have been coming to Bastille for several years now and we are consistently satisfied and impressed. The quality is very good, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the servers are always helpful--especially when I bring one friend in particular who has a number of dietary needs. Thank you, Bastille!!
The service is good but disruptive. I’m the middle of my sentence the server would approach the table and say “ sorry to interrupt but do you want to see the dessert menu?” I really don’t like that. The service at maximillian’s just happens. It’s seamless and we are never interrupted while talking. I wish I could find that level of elegance at the Bastille.
Over the years, Bastille has remained a dining mainstay for family dinners, date nights and special occasions. The food, while not exciting, is always reliably delicious and perfectly prepared. The ambiance is great and service is always attentive and friendly. On our last visit, we were comped a drink when the bar was extra busy and ran behind. It wasn't necessary but it was really appreciated, and definitely reminded us why Bastille remains a favorite.
Bastille is a terrific neighborhood restaurant that makes you feel like you might be in Paris instead of Ballard. Excellent felafel.
The restaurant has slipped. Limited menu, small portions, priced like an edgier, newer, more exotic, better place.
From the moment we arrived we were met by exceptional employees and the food on the restaurant week menu was stellar! Can't wait to eat there again.
Always a great experience
Bastille is one of our favorite restaurants in Ballard. The service is always excellent, as is the food.
Very loud bar atmosphere. Service a little slow busy Saturday. Odd wait staff roles keeps things slow. Food is a touch above pub but flavorful
1st time visiting. Great menu for Seattle Restaurant week, delicious food and wine pairing. Will be back.
Asked for a booth even though there were just 2 of us. Maitre’d asked if we could wait 5 min so they clear a table. Kept updating us and had it ready in minutes.
We had an order each of the mushroom and sweet potato cocotte; baguette with jams; chanterelle mushroom omelette; and, coffee. There were two of us, and we enjoyed the food and service that we've come to expect - wonderful. We make reservations through Open Table and it always works well.
Food Service was pretty slow and the ambience pretty noisy . Nice waitstaff and good food
Atmosphere and service were great. However, food portions were VERY tiny for the price. Ordered the $40 steak frites and I thought the presentation looked pretty bland. It was just a small steak slapped onto a plate. No presentation whatsoever. Honestly felt overcharged for the meal.
What a great dinner! Service was terrific. Food superb. Chicken liver pate was to dine for. Lamb burgers stunning. I had the chicken dish, which was outstanding. Desserts were very tasty and delightful. Great evening.
It is one of the few places that I can honestly say I have never had a disappointing meal at. The food is always terrific. Service is excellent and atmosphere is pleasant.
As much as I love dinner, it is a good to place for Sunday brunch.
After 1.5 hours we still not had been served our meals. In the end we left. More details: We had reservations and arrived on time. No server contact for 30 min. Ordered entrees from the daily specials with no modifications (soup and salmon). After 45 minutes no food had arrived. Others seated at same time had completed their meal and had left. Complained to Manager; meal was to be free. Waited another 20 minutes. No contact and no meal. We left.
We had a wonderful time celebrating a birthday!
The service wasn’t great and the menu was very limited. The food was okay at best.
Our birthday celebrating group was treated impeccably! Perfect balance between attention and hands-off allowing for all of our socializing. Beautiful.
Loved it - delicious and lovely
Bastille used to be a great little restaurant, but it's a shadow of its former self. The drinks are good, but the food has become mediocre, and the service is not great.
We loved it. I only very rarely give 5 stars for anything, so 4 stars for me is really really good. The food was wonderful and interesting, and so were the drinks.
Embarrassingly small portions on Sunday brunch specials this past Sunday. Pretty disappointed as we really wanted to love it!
Food was great as always, but the chicken dish (Poulet Roti) has a new recipe and is not nearly as good as the dark sauce that used to come with it.
Nice service, great food, light portions
Outstanding service and unique takes on classic brunch menu items
Overpriced and small portions. However, nice ambiance and service.
Always a fantastic meal and service at Bastille! We will be back soon!
My father, my friend and I really enjoyed the jazz performance on Sunday. It was a very wonderful experience to be dining too.
The check in stuff and the waiting staff were very kind and accommodating.
It’s so beautiful , it’s worth it to go just to see the interior ! Brings us back to our trip to Paris !
But the food was a rip off . We had good pasta but for $22. it was appetizer size at most . Our friend ordered “ half a chicken “ & it was half a baby game hen !
We were outside on tall stools & my friend’s stool had no bar for her feet so her legs were uncomfortable the whole meal , which was loooong . We had to flag down ( literally ) our waiter to get the check .
Great ambiance 👍🏼
food 👎🏼
Great atmosphere. Solid food. Wine list is poorly constructed. Out of approximately eight Bordeaux selections, only one was priced below $300! Even at restaurant markup of 100 - 200%, not difficult to find solid selections in the $100 - $150 range.
I really like Bastille for its outstanding food and great service. This visit did not disappoint. My hubs and I split several dishes and the server didn’t object at all. It was a great experience.
I absolutely love coming to Bastille for dinner or brunch. The food is always phenomenal and the service matches.
Lovely food, service and experience.
Excellent wine pairings, and a very knowledgeable waiting staff.
I went with my husband and a friend. The food was generally delicious although I thought the sauce on the chicken was a little bit salty. I was disappointed that the printed menu didn't indicate gluten free even though the same menu items were labeled online. The Toulouse Sausage dish was labeled GF online but our server said it was not.
We've been a number of times and always like the experience. The cocktails were amazing and the wine list is very nice and well curated. I had the chicken liver pate as a starter which was excellent. Great flavor and texture with the apricot jam on the top off-setting the fat nicely. I had the falafel and was underwhelmed. The flavors were muted for all of the components. The falafel themselves were quite bland and the outside crust was overdone. I would not order that again. My dinner companions were very happy with their gnocchi and lamb burgers, though.
