Every single thing we had from salads to entree and wine was perfect! Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave us great service including a free very interesting dessert!!
The food was definitely good, but the portions were a bit small. I got the duck the leg and my fiancee got the mussels. The taste of both was certainly very good, and service was prompt and friendly, but neither of us was full at the end. I think if they just provided free bread, it would be enough to fix it. But it feels bad to pay $80 for a meal and not at least leave full.
I really loved the atmosphere and the menu at Bastille, the food was very good however, for the value - I have a lot of options in the area where I feel that my dollar goes further with food, service, and atmosphere that is equally as good.
Delicious as always. My frites were good but some were mashed together and had the appearance of mashed potatoes.
Wonderful experience! Great service, excellent food from the starter “frites” through the cocktails then the main course of “Chicken Oysters” and Halibut - both items outstanding. Love the atmosphere - distinctive with a touch of energy. A Ballard gem.
Introduced friends to Bastille and they loved it just like we do!
First visit to this restaurant. We tried a variety of both small and large plates. The Eacargot was uninspiring in a bland pasta presentation. I really thought the Duck Confit was excellent and cooked perfectly with the skin crisp and the meat tender. My wife had the Falafel which was large enough she could not finish it. My daughter had the Roast Chicken which was very good. The ambience was good. Arrive early on a weekend as finding parking takes some effort or a walk of a few blocks.
This our good to restaurant. It's always great and you can always count on a good meal.
Food was excellent as was service. It was our 36th anniversary and they gave us a glass of Prosecco. Restaurant is a little loud for us. We like the Ballard area.
Awesome experience! Great service, great food and really enjoyed the live music, we’re planning on making Bastille a destination for special occasions throughout the year.
I love this place and we will be back! The cabbage salad and croques madame were amazing.
I took my mother-in-law and wife out for Mother's Day brunch and between the ambiance and the vibe in the restaurant it was a good. Our server brought a good energy to the table and most of the time made sure we we're doing ok. However, I was really disappointed in the restaurant's presentation and preparation of their food. 1/2 the food we ordered was fair but the other half was not prepared with pride nor presented as such. I could come back maybe for a drink but with so many better restaurant experiences, I probably won't return. :(
The food is delicious— well-prepared with fresh ingredients. The service is friendly; they don’t make you feel rushed but don’t leave you waiting for the next course.
Had family in town and wanted to go to a brunch with a little French flair— it was delicious!

We live in California, but are here several times a year to visit grandchildren. We try to go to Bastille each time. This last time was the best! The found was absolutely outstanding, the service was perfect as usual, and the atmosphere so very French!

Maybe I would go back for Happy Hour, but $32 for 3 scallops? They were good but not great.
Salty, Salty.... they must have MCDonald people cooking on Monday night. We ordered most expensive dish and it was terrible, fish was over seared, too salty, and served cold. It’s not the same Bastille.....
Always a pleasure to dine at Bastille! I recommend Sunday brunch as the Ballard Sunday Market is happening. Great people watching and post-brunch meandering and shopping. Did I mention that the food is always wonderful?
It was a busy Easter Sunday brunch and quite noisy, but the food was excellent - nice variety of choices - and our server, Sarah, was outstanding, even though it was crazy busy. We'll be back!
Easter brunch. In hindsight, we should have asserted ourselves to avoid being relegated to the outdoor dining area/greenhouse, which was where they seated families with babies and old people (we're in our 60s and presentable, we like to think, but apparently didn't make the cut here). The greenhouse was hot and very loud -- all those babies. Service was inattentive and slow, and the food was lukewarm when it arrived. We wished that we had just grazed at the Farmers' Market instead.
The food is always a very consistently great quality. We both have the hell of it, followed by a cheese plate for dessert. The service was prompt, but respectful and that we did not feel rushed at all. Highly recommend.
We sat in the charming, sunny, covered patio during Happy Hour, there is heat if you need it. The dining room is dark but lovely with very cool booths. Fabulous food - Croque Madam, a chick pea pancake, fantastic lamb burger, with fresh local salads (and this is just the happy food), special was scallops - Very nice wine list, great cocktails - The desserts are so worth it! Every staff member was attentive and professional (informative, they know their products, no fawning or taking over our conversations, no hard selling, very observant). Bathrooms are very cold and dark but well stocked. This delightful place reminded me of the Bastille neighborhood in Paris, very 'cafe society' with really great food! We'll be back!
Always excellent and imaginative menu. They are superstars with salads in particular, but have never had anything poor or mediocre there of any kind. Parking is the biggest challenge but early on this Sunday night was much easier than other nights. It is a noisy restaurant with all the hard surfaces but the food quality is great and service always excellent so we put up with the noise once in awhile to go there.
We all loved it! Enture staff were wonderful. The food was spot on perfect, not a missed note. Thank you so much!
The hostess sat us on the patio at our request which was delightful. Every bite of our meal was delicious.
This was our first visit to Bastille. It is a lovely place location wise as we were enroute to the Tractor for a great show by Smokey Brights. The restaurant is fair priced and the halibut they had was well executed....the lamb burgers were less astounding but very large. The fries were excellent. The service was good.
We had hoped for a venue with less noise. The restaurant is large and popular, and should consider noise dampening additions like fabrics or other means to keep it from feeling like a train station. It has lovely architecture and so this would have to be done with sensitivity. But our conversations over table were tough with the echoing noise of the very large and densely seated room.
Overall it was convenient....but loud. Service was really good but felt impersonal given the atmosphere. I would recommend this as a place to get good entrees, good wine, but be prepared for echoing noise which detracts from the strong efforts of the kitchen. I also enjoyed the screening of Julia and Jacques...provided interesting talking points as we ate our meals. Thanks
This was my 3rd or 4th visit. On previous visits the food was without exception memorable. This time around, I would say it was very good, but somewhat inconsistent. I ordered the duck confit for example. The duck was OK. The accompanying greens and sweet potato puree were 5-star good. A companion had the Parisian dumplings - OK. I had the chicken pate, and another companion had another pate, both of which were 5-star good. Etc. The wine list is good, and good value. The desserts were all-around excellent.
Wish they would bring in another type of beef for Steak/Frites. And have more than one Fish main course.

Ordered several things from the happy hour menus. Muscles were good. Some of the others were a joke. The cheese and cracker baguette plate was a plate of crackers and a mini wedge of cheese that might cover 3 of them. That was very disappointing. I see better on alaska airlines flights.
Even with happy hour the drinks are still pricy but at lease they are well made.
Such a magical space. A wonderful meal we will be back.
I had left a message that it was our anniversary. There was no mention of it and nothing special done . There was a table that was more romantic by fire but we were seated near busser station not best view. Also my husband asked to substitute a vegetable instead of potato ... the server said “ we are not a substituting type of restaurant, we can omit the potato.”
I work in the food industry for a high end property. I know how important customer care is . Not Subbing a vegetable for potato these days with all the diets out there is unacceptable. Something so simple as a lovely table or acknowledgement of a special occasion is so important and doesn’t cost the restaurant a penny .... but, it will gain a life long customer.
Bastille is our go-to breakfast place on Sunday. One of us had the Classic Breakfast which she said was good. I usually have the Falafel, but ordered the Polenta Aligot instead. It was very good, but very rich. I was surprised to really enjoy the crunch of the hazel nuts. I will likely go back to the Falafel semi regularly, though.
Bastille was really busy and had temporarily run out of baguettes. Had to wait about 15 minutes for the next batch to come out of the oven.
I got the roasted chicken and my friend got the special of the day, halibut. The food was amazing. The service was great. Each plate was about $30. This place is a favorite restaurant to go to occasionally.
Food was so good!! Great service, very knowledgeable about items on menu. Made great wine suggestions. Will definitely go back
