Delicious food. It was restaurant week so they were busy, which probably explains slow service
Service was unusually slow, by Bastille standards, even though it was not crowded or busy during the first half hour we were there. It was difficult to get the server's attention. Several times we had to rely on other customers to get her attention.
Great experience with restaurant week. Excellent food. Great service.
I applaud Bastille for creating a menu that gives a good sense of what their regular menu is like.
We were at Bastille for restaurant week. Wonderful selection of starters and entrees. We enjoyed escargots, pate, cod and coq au vin---all prepared perfectly. Restaurant week made Bastille even more affordable than usual.
Went for restaurant week but the evening prix fixe is a great value regardless. Excellent food and service.
We went as part of Restaurant Week and are excited to return to try their regular menu.
Bastille once again came through with a fantastic lunch. The staff is delightful, knowledgeable, and helpful as always, and the food is always cooked to perfection. It's a favorite go-to in Old Town!
We were there for my wife's birthday. The birthday card capped a night of great food and service. Thanks to everyone at Bastille.
Asked to be seated at a 2 top along banquette and was told no even though 3 were empty. A bit of a discouraging start. Marina was awesome server. Even with menu hiccup, all was lovely. Will return.
As always the food is delicious and appealing and the service excellent
Food is consistently good. Soup is always worth a try. Sit in the back to avoid the main dining room which can be noisy when full of people.
It was Restaurant Week, for lunch. Kitchen was extremely slow — probably understaffed. Food was very good, and properly served, when it did emerge from the kitchen.
J'ai trouvé que le restaurant était excellent. J'étais très content du service. J'ai beaucoup aimé la cuisine et j'ai l'intention d'y retourner.
We went for restaurant week. This was an excellent experience. Our service was fantastic and the food was great. Attending restaurant week is such a great deal as it allows you to go places you normally might not think of going to. While it's over and hour drive for us it was well worth it. We'll be back.
Went there to celebrate friend’s birthday and take advantage of Restaurant Week. Food was delicious — several options — and service great even though many people there! Parking is so easy. Enjoyed the evening thoroughly!!
Great lunch for restaurant week!
The food was excellent and we enjoyed the wine list. Wonderfully busy for a Tuesday night and a testament to the chef and owners; we had a reservation at 7pm and went directly to our table. Great team provided service.
The recently renovated Bastille is beautiful. Very clean and bistro like. The updated menu is wonderful and the food was perfect as always! The only drawback is with the new renovations, it noticeably louder in the dining room, but by no means is it a dealbreaker! Well done, Bastille!!
We dine there once a month - very nice!
Always a pleasure to eat at Bastille- they really get it all right and the food was delicious!
I always recommend Bastille as the best restaurant in Alexandria/DMV for quality of food and service. They offer interesting menus which change from time to time. We've eaten at many good restaurants around the world and Bastille is at the top of our list. Their prix fix menus for special events offer a sufficient selection in each category to the eater's taste or likes.
Always a great time. Good food with a good selection balance. Beet salad is something I could eat every day! Wonderful way to spend part of New Year’s Eve.
Have eaten here before and very impressed by food, quality, and service. However, even though the food was top notch, every dish well prepared and delicious, the service was lacking. I have eaten in Paris several times and service I know can be a little relaxed. However, we waited for 10-15 minutes for plates to be cleared and another 10 for the next course. We finally had to tell our waitress that we had another commitment and needed to be out of the restaurant within 45 minutes. We were on course 2 of a 4 course meal.
Our waitress was a delight and very professional and polite, but it think it was a kitchen and management issue. Needed more wait staff or clearing staff. The kitchen could have prepared food in a more efficient manner in order to service the house quickly especially given it was a price fixed menu.
The cost was $95 + wine + tax + tip per person. So, at that cost to the consumer everything should be 5 stars across the board.
It is always a pleasure to eat at Bastille. I live in Charlottesville and love it so much that I make the drive.
Well flavored food, excellent service without being annoying. Their 3 course fixe price was a good value. Salmon was just a tad overdone. Terrific profiteroles filled with ice cream and topped with fresh chocolate sauce. We went early and were glad that we did as the dining room filled up, but our round table made conversation stay relatively audible.
The food was adequate. It was served lukewarm which did not work at all, especially for the croque and the crepe. Although I have asked multiple times for “plain” ketchup (as have others), the chef insists on serving “perfumed” tomato sauce.
Too bad, because the location and easy parking should make a favorite in Old Town.
This is our favorite restaurant in the MDV. We have traveled much and been to many fine restaurants over the years--Bastille is TOPS. One of the distinctive features is the eclectic cocktail menu with regular changes to what's on call.
We ate in the bar to take advantage of happy hour cocktails then ordered from the dinner menu. Although the bar was fairly empty, it was a bit loud. Next time we'll eat in the dining room where there is carpet.
Very good food, good service and reasonable prices. Can get a little noisy.
Always a fabulous experience. The steak frites was perfect!
We used to visit when the Bastille was in its previous location and enjoyed it. This one is great too. They are going to be renovating starting January 6, so the venue will look different again soon. That said, the food was great. With one of us getting the 4 course meal and the other just appetizer and entree, we shared a lot. The Escargots in butter and garlic with toasts were excellent, as was the Duck Breast and the Scallops and Risotto. Wines are reasonable. Well worth about $140 for 2 including tax.
Bastille is our go-to restaurant for date night or a special occasion. We love it! I always get the cassoulet if it's available, and steak fries if it's not (these are some of the best fries around!) Great wine list and great after drink list. We'll be back!
Third time we have been in the last few months. Doesn’t disappoint and the food is great! Very attentive service. Becoming one of our favorites in Alexandria.
Great food, great service and ideal seating at my favorite seat. My guest enjoyed it also.
Excellent food and friendly, attentive staff. Quiet
Great food and wine as always. Plan on returning soon
Just great for quality of food and service. Good menu selections and soup de jour is fantastic!
