Wish I could give 10 stars for service. Having been to Bastille before for dinner I was eager to try brunch. The three-course prix Fixe menu is a great deal. Choice of appetizer/salad, entree and dessert makes for a delicious way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We loved the live music - a marvelous jazz clarinetist. Can’t wait to come back to try more of this excellent brunch menu. Oh, and service was impeccable,

The food was very tasty, and the service was sedate, not rushed, but the table location near the outside door in mid-winter, and right close to the bathrooms cut into the ambience of the room. Otherwise, it was the usual good job on a Saturday night.

Was disappointed in the Valentines day dining. The service was incredibly slow and the food was over cooked and tasted like it had been sitting out (was dry). It took 20 min to get a drink and the waiter was kind of rude and not attentive.

The food was truly spectacular! The service was good even though it was very busy. The noise level was a little much for a romantic dinner.

This restaurant has quickly made itself my favorite restaurant in all of old town. The food is exquisite, it tastes authentic and the service is really good. I have recommended this restaurant to friends, and I will be back. Absolutely love it!

Bastille's team never disappoints. Everything was as expected. For our birthday celebrations we had a fabulous time and our specialty Birthday cake was the best chocolate cake EVER!!! Many thanks to the Pastry Chef Michelle Poteaux for a gorgeous cake. We are proud to call ourselves "Regulars" at this excellent restaurant. If you've never been, it's time to give them a try.

We loved the food, service depended on how busy the bar was. When we arrived there was a waiter and a bartender. But midway through our meal, the waiter left and the bartender became both a bartender and a waiter. Of course right when that happened a party of 6 came in and wanted drinks while waitin for their table - that put a damper on our service. Not the bartenders fault but I can't imagine not having a waiter and a bartender during dinner time.

We have been to Bastille previously and always enjoy it. For Super Bowl evening, we were looking for a place to dine with NO television in the dining area. This was perfect: small crowd, pleasant service, nice surroundings. Last time it was very busy, and we were seated next to a table of 8. If having a low-key conversation--even in an upscale restaurant--is important, go to Bastille, but select a slow day or before/after peak hours. Food selection is creative, might be overly salty at times, so tell the server ahead of time for kitchen to go easy on the salt.

Like most restaurants these days the servicers do not understand the concept of timing when serving. Drinks come first, followed by appetizers a little later, etc. There should be a training period provided by the establishment for serving etiquette and coordination between the service and the kitchen. This is not a complaint to the restaurant, but a suggestion to make dining a better experience.

See my review on Yelp. Steaks were of poor quality. Most was gristle and fat. Waiter was horrible and manager/owner was accusatory. Duck was OK. Only had potato soup no french onion. Simple things like getting a black napkin and relighting of a candle was impossible.

After making a reservation, we were seated and then ignored for close to 30 minutes. The host eventually noticed and sent a server who was overlooking us in his own zone. We weren’t offered an apology or reason.

Additionaly, the sever charged us for a dinner price although it was 1:30pm when we ate. A real bait-and-switch.

The food was divine. The service was slow. Our server was inattentive for the first half of the meal. During the second half, she was great. She must have had too many tables when we arrived. The food was fantastic—no complaints there. There was live music in the dining room we were in so it was a bit too loud for my taste. I am sure other people liked the music.

Restaurant Week '19: Apps: escargots forestier (delish), beignets de crevettes (great). Entrees: cassoulet au confit de canard, steak frites (medium rare done great by chef). Desserts: creme caramel au cafe & chocolat royale (both yummy). $25 Bordeaux. Perhaps coq au vin next time?

Enjoyed the restaurant week lunch - highly recommend the chicken Paillard with duck fat potatoes and frisée salad. Very plump steamed Maine mussels with pommels frites were also delicious.

However no dining points.

I took my mother there for Restaurant week lunch. I had booked a table ahead of time because it's Bastille and they're busy. The portions are plentiful, food was good, and came to the table hot. My mom enjoyed the Shrimp Beignets as her first course. My mushroom soup was creamy and thick which made it very filling. I didn't finish it. We both had the Chicken Paillard, potatoes and salad. Mom loved the chicken because it was VERY crispy. She also chose the Profiteroles for dessert and she loved them. The wait staff was attentive and checked on us a few times through lunch. I had forgotten how close the tables are to each other and it's loud. It was difficult for a personal conversation. I would recommend that you go there, just book ahead.

Restaurant week (RW) and we were a bit concerned about crowds, potential delays and 'ho-hum' offerings but we wanted try this restaurant for some time. Quite a surprise....we started at the bar and opted to stay put for dinner even though our table was ready a bit early (<9pm). Our bartender Charles was spot-on and he directed us to the RW pre-fixe menus and the 'by the bottle' list that posed some terrific options. Meals, wine and service were terrific. Our first....but certainly not our last trip to Bastille!!

Food was phenomenal and the happy hour was great. We were here for restaurant week which was a great deal. My only complaint is that they said their dining room was booked all night. We had a reservation for a later time but decided to arrive early and just eat at the bar. We asked about some of the open tables and they said no because of the bookings. All the tables sat open for over 2 1/2 hours.

We didn't really mind since we sat at the bar but we saw people turned away and it is a shame because so many more could have enjoyed the restaurant that night. If you are looking for good French cuisine you have to check this out.

At this point, I have lost count how many times I have eaten at Bastille. It is consistently good. If you are celebrating a birthday (like we were on Friday night), you want to come here. You will NOT be disappointed. All the dishes were lovely, tasty and the perfect temperature. They also have a very good variety of nice wines. Bastille is the place to go for foodies on their birthdays. Thank you, Bastille, for helping to celebrate my friend's birthday in first class style.

We were here for restaurant week and the food was beyond outstanding. The dessert was the best, in my opinion. The cream puffs had ice cream instead of cream!

The coq au vin was so tender, I just wished they had more mash potatoes!

Definitely would come back!
