Very good food, outside seating was nice. The only thing it should have outside would be soft music.
I live in California and this is a "must stop" when I am in the Washington area. Great food and friendly people. You will not be disappointed. As you might expect, wine list is French oriented. My only suggestion would be to have some more California and Washington State wines.
Went with a friend for the first time for my birthday. My go-to French place closed earlier this year so I've been looking for a new place. Bastille may fit the bill - quiet casual atmosphere, good menu with affordable options (such as the three and four course meals), and outstanding food. Glad to have found it.
We had a very nice birthday dinner. The service was great and they gave us a little treat with desert. It's a nice neighborhood spot!
Excellent as always, including Noemi's service!!
What don't you serve your wonderful escargots for lunch anymore? I miss them!!!
So happy to have found this little refuge of good eating in Alexandria. I’ll definitely go back!
Great lunch, fresh seasonal entrees. Lovely wait staff. Nice Friday lunch experience.
Took my mom here for a late Mother's Day lunch. Enjoyable as always!
We came to Bastille with our 11 month old daughter for Mother's Day Brunch. Although I would not bring her here for an evening meal (the cuisine is definitely adult, not child, focused), they were incredibly accommodating for our family of three. The courses were well timed, and the selection was impressive, even on a prix-fixe special menu. Ingredients were outstanding and the artistic presentation was special indeed. We definitely will be back; it is one of the first non-touristy 'foodie' restaurants we've found in the Old Town Alexandria area. Merci beaucoup!
Outstanding food and interesting choices. Excellent service by Sophia. One small issue - We had checked menus online ahead of time and would like to have known that prix fixe at $49 was the only option on Mother’s Day. But Bastille is definitely worth a visit!
Other than some boisterous clientele, it was a PERFECT evening!
Great eggs benedict. Would like more brunch options with veggies.
Traveled from North Carolina. We came for mimosa brunch and it was amazing. The bread was great, I started with the cheese platter, which I highly recommend, and ordered chicken and waffles for my main course. Everything was so great. I enjoyed sitting outside, the area was scenic and made for a great brunch.
Great restaurant with outstanding service. The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and my date said (my!) escargot were the best she’d ever tasted. She had chicken which I don’t eat, and reported that it was delicious. Not inexpensive but a good value nonetheless.
We had the Seared Mediterranean Branzino and the Roasted Lamb double rib chop for entrees. Both were perfectly prepared and seasoned. Service throughout the evening was excellent and friendly. The Morello Cherry and Almond Strudel and the Profiteroles au chocolate were great dessert options.
service was a bit slow...especially waiting for coff & dessert... took forever for coffee & then again for dessert. tables are a bit too close. but overall, was a nice visit.
Good solid food with pleasant service. Nothing extravagant or extraordinary. A tad pricey for what is served but a generally nice experience.
Took dear friend to dinner. We both had a wonderful time.
Drove 2 hours to Bastille and we t was worth every second of the drive! Phenomenal food and comfortable eating environment!!
Absolutely marvelous menu for reataurant week. Each course was unique and delicious. wine was superb. service 5 star.
My husband and I and another couple ate at Bastille on May 3. As usual, the food was delicious. I had the duck breast, my husband had lamb chops, and our friends had the mussels and salmon. All of the food was well prepared and attractively served. The service, however, was not as good as we had experienced in the past. It took us longer usual to get our food, and the busboy did not know which dish went to which person. While our waitress was very good, the staff helping her was not of the same quality.
Gathering for joint Birthdays ! Always predictably good, quiet and excellent service thanks to Casey in addition to exquisite food and selection~
Favorite place ❤️
Excellent food & wine & service. Waiter/bartender Casey was outstanding with his suggestions
We hit during restaurant week, prix fixe for a la carte menu... water Cress Vichysoisse was delightful, grilled branzino salad was tasty and expertly filetted ... and a pistachio merengue pastry dusted with elegance perfect... the pastry chef is unsurpassed in Old Town fine dining establishments... finished with satisfying double espresso ... and s brilliant french chardonnay from down near "Catalonia" the name of which has something to do with Catalonia... aged 6 months in oak and 2 years in stainless steel... I'm embarrassed at how reasonable the lunch was... double if not for restaurant week... unbeatable in Alexandria... Allons enfants de la Patrie...“Tous à la Bastille !”
My parents and I met for a delightful lunch. The appetizer, entree, dessert and customer service were spectacular. Thank you very much for a fabulous meal together!
My friend and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially when they sat us by a window. I though the food was ok. I was a little disappointed with the Belgium waffle. It wasn't what I expected and had better from other places. I did enjoy their chicken wings, even though it was only 4 little drumletes. My lady friend enjoyed the atmosphere too! The best part of the experience was the service, which was 5 stars! I don't remember the waitress name, but I think she had a French accent. She was fantastic and very knowledgeable with the menu. I would recommend this restaurant to others, and I would come back again.
The wait staff at Bastille is top notch. Every time we've eaten here our experience with our server has been outstanding - above and beyond.
Went for Sunday brunch. Exce
I love the prix fixe menu here. The choices are always very interesting and delicious. When it's nice outside, it's lovely to sit on the patio. I highly recommend!
Outstanding! Lots of GF options!
Bastille served the best food we ate during a week long stay in the DC area (and we went to the Blue Duck Tavern). However, they did not have a table for us when we arrived on time for our reservation. They offered us a table in the bar area, near the restaurant’s front door. We got a little chilled and a bar customer stood with his behind in my face, so asked to have a seat somewhere else. This only happened after two requests. On the whole, service was phlegmatic, at best. This was a shame since all the food was excellent.
We came here for lunch at my friend’s request to celebrate her birthday, which I noted on the reservation. The staff made a point to acknowledge her birthday and added little touches throughout the meal to make the experience quite special. I thought it was very classy and I can’t wait to come back for the food, service and ambiance.
Always a great experience. Great food. Generous portions. Great service. Reasonable prices. Easy parking. Always consistent. Sometimes limited menu. Best restaurant in Alexandria for the money. Highly recommend.
Bastille NEVER disappoints. We come here all the time and always leave glad we did. Excellent food, amazing value and super nice staff.
Worst steak ever...great wine though
We had brunch and it was great - a little pricey but overall the food was good. The staff was attentive. We will try for dinner sometime.
A real neighborhood gem! The food was delicious, and service friendly. I LOVE the portion sizes. Enough to fill up, and small enough to allow for a comfortable 3 course meal. The food was impeccable. Risotto was so flavorful, and didn't get gummy after 5 minutes...which means it was cooked correctly! (Unlike when I cook risotto, lol!) The creme brulee was tasty, though slightly undercooked...not an easy mistake to avoid. My friend's dessert, chocolate gateau was devine!
Sat on the patio for the first time. Very nice!
Really fantastic meal, even more so because the weather was finally decent on a weekend this spring in Alexandria. Yeah! Our food and service were exceptional. The only thing which couldn't be helped was the wind, which was really blowing strong and worried us because chairs and other items on tables were blowing around, and the umbrellas seemed to want to pick up and launch--but nothing got too crazy. Our meal was a wonderful experience, we didn't feel rushed, and we enjoyed it immensely. Best meal at Bastille in a long time, too, even though it's always a good experience, this was better than usual.
We had been there multiple times. Food quality has significantly diminished. No one was pleased with their Meals.
