Bastardo is the latest fast, loud, and delicious joint from the Porteno crew. This bold and exciting Italian restaurant is nestled within the Holt St Precinct of Surry Hills, neighbouring it’s sister venues WYNO x BODEGA, Porteno, and Humble Bakery.

You’ll know you’ve hit the right spot when you spy the La Parmigiana Pasta Extruder and vintage 1920’s Foosball table.

Taking inspiration from home style Sicilian recipes and mixing in a fair splash of modern cooking methods, Bastardo perfectly integrates old and new world Italian. The curated wine-list is filled with mostly Italian wines, and incorporates both minimal intervention techniques as well as a handful of traditionalist wines to suit every boozy palette. Our staff are always happy to walk you through a map of Italy, one wine at a time.

                                                                                                          Would recommend if you enjoy top quality Italian cuisine. We had the Buratta, Humble break crab pasta and tiramsu. Lamb ragu was not that great. Wasn't like a regular really which can be quite rich in sauce. It was a little dry and was overpowered by herbs like tarragon. Overall great feed.

                                                                                                          Delicious Italian food that is good value. Good service - friendly, relaxed but informative. My only quibble is the price of the wines. Cheapest red was $70 and most wines were priced at over $100. Kind of did not match the menu and the vibe. That aside we enjoyed our night and will be back

                                                                                                          Good was incredible with amazing service. Our waiter was super helpful in taking us through the menu, selecting our wine and suggesting pairings. I would say that the cost is quiet high for the portions but overall great restaurant. We got the calamari, ox heart special, gigli pasta, fried zucchini flowers and the flan dessert. The Gigli pasta, calamari and the zucchini flowers are must haves.
