Basta Pasta was first established in Tokyo, Japan in 1985.
After success in Tokyo, Basta Pasta NYC opened it’s doors in Chelsea in 1990.

The restaurant was designed as a kitchen theater with an open dining room in an ever rotating art gallery setting. It was quickly celebrated as a unique dining experience and has become a beloved neighborhood spot for many locals.

Executive chef Takada’s authentic, yet creative Italian dishes have been attracting and intriguing people from all over the world for almost three decades.

The interior of Basta Pasta comes with cozy seating and an open kitchen view. Its casual ambiance makes it a good choice for a midweek lunch or a romantic dinner. Basta Pasta is open for lunch between noon and 2.30 p.m. and then for dinner between 6.00 p.m. and 11.00 p.m. every day.

Service was not that great . The service was also slow and the pasta was cold and not al dente. I was disappointed as the reviews I saw seemed to say otherwise. I have had better.

Amazing food and service as always! We've been going to Basta Pasta for many years and so glad that they're on Opentable now. We are so happy to see Jung. He and Mira are the first to be with Basta Pasta and are still there. Very, very nice and kind people. And our server, Nicholas was amazing as well. Very attentive, kind, friendly and professional. We love all the dishes we ordered but we truly missed their hen. Please bring that back to the menu, please! Again, thank you so much for your hospitality and making our dining experience so memorable! Keep up the outstanding work. We will see you soon. Xoxo
