Once again the staff hit it out of the park. Food was exceptional. Atmosphere was magical.
Saturday night, so it was pretty busy. It’s on the higher end price wise, but it’s worth it. I’ve come before and the food is always great, the service can be hit or miss, but this tine we had an excellent waiter.
Took my sister in law here. It was her first time, and she thoroughly enjoyed herself.
At first it seemed loud but we were able to get a table in the side room. Conversation was easy in the side room. We all cleaned our salad, entree and dessert plates; the food was amazing and very creative.
Delicious food and robust atmosphere. We also had an excellent waiter who was charming and responsive. Great dining experience. I will be back for sure!
Great pizza. The veal parmigiana was over cooked. Crispy and thin, instead of meaty and nicely breaded.
Very good food, preparation and presentation. Not an intimate setting but low noise level.
We had a waiter by the name of Joe and he provided excellent service and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food
was excellent and we didn’t feel rushed.
I would definitely return in the near future.
If you’re looking for a fun place for an excellent dinner with a social vibe Basta hits the spot. Sophia Loren, vespas, cool Italian men stare down at you from the walls while friendly but super efficient staff serve you delicious and generous portions of Italian comfort food including wood fired pizzas and a plethora of pasta dishes. I particularly appreciate the tasty salads. Paired with a very reasonable wine list and vibrant bar scene Basta is a treat. Always busy - sign of its well earned popularity.
Veal is awesome. Love the reno
The service was friendly; dinner was fantastic.
Pizza, spot on, meatballs were perfect, not mealy and not crumbly, shear delight!
Everything was great. Food was outstanding. I compare Italian restaurants by their bolognese which is a simple dish, but can be done so wrong. This may have been the best I tasted. Everyone else at the table loved their meals as well. Desserts were excellent, especially the banana tart. Only complaint is that food came too fast. Was intended to be a night together with family. After ordering starters, they were out in less than five minutes. Didn’t even have time to finish a drink. We waited w while before ordering entrees a s was a good thing as they were out very quickly as well. All in all a great experience at what is certainly one of RI’s best restaurants.
Good, not great. And for the $, I believe it should have been better than “good”. Food “good”, service was very good which helped. Nice lively atmosphere. A bit pricey for what is offered... but just my opinion.
Great food, service, wine list and music
Small Portions. Good wine. Good food. Great bread.
First time at Basta and will definitely be back! Love the food and so many other great things to try on the menu. Awesome service!
Came here to celebrate our engagement. The food was amazing and our waiter Brian was phenomenal. Great service & impeccable knowledge about everything on the menu
the wait staff was excellent and attentive - the food was very good and enough for a meal
Great service as always. Servers really know their menu and items. Highly recommend for all occasions
My girlfriend and I enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere.
Small portions but awesome food! Great service!
Good restaurant, good food and service, menu is a little limited and pricey
The bruschetta special w/calamari and octopus was tasteless and covered w/ what I think was mayonnaise and the clams casino were very dry and tasteless. I requested an IPA and was brought a stout- yikes!!! Three of us had the stuffed veal chop and they were all lukewarm- very disappointing. Also, another patron bought us a round of drinks and although I had practically a full glass of beer, another was plopped on the table (I love warm, flat beer) in front of me. Additionally, our table was charged for some of the drinks that were supposed to have been on the other party.
All in all, I was very disappointed w/my dinner and will not be back!
We had a wonderful meal but the service is what really stood out to us. Brian was our server and was just outstanding. He made our evening very memorable and we most certainly be back.
Met friends for dinner. Had a great time. Delicious food, fine service and delicious wine.
Waiter Ian was outstanding
It is always a perfect time at Basta. Their staff is phenomenal and their food is one of the best around. Literally everything on the menu and daily specials is good (yes, I am stealing my friends' food off their plate). Having the online reservation system is a huge help for this place can get quite busy in a good way. But the servers and staff are pleasant and perfectly timed to your needs, you're never waiting nor are they in your face every 5 minutes. I can't get enough of their salmon/risotto dish..I hope that never leaves the menu!
Evwrything at Basta was terrific. Attentive servers, fantastic food, great setting on the patio made our time at Basta well worth the visit. Will definitely go back.
We went for our anniversary. We hadn't been in some time and we were quite impressed with the new look. The service was good and attentive even though if was really getting busy. I was disappointed with the calamari, the pieces were very chunky and chewy but we had gone specifically for the stuffed veal chops and I have to say they were incredible. The crusty stuffed chop topped with mozzarella and shrimp and covered with a sauce that is to die for is one of the most delicious meals I have ever had. We were given a nice glass of Proseco to celebrate with. Ended the night with a delicious salted caramel chocolate gelato.
my husband and I split everything; calamari, Caesar salad, veal saltimbocca, & orichette with rabe and sausage. eveyrthign was excellent. the service was quick and attentive. the wine was very good. hadn't been there in a decade. cant wait to go back. right at the top of my favorites list.
Very busy restaurant but was seated through open table very quickly. Staff were all very friendly. I noticed the specials were only read to select customers. Food was phenomenal! Noise level is extremely high. They seated us in the dining row so we were extremely close to other patrons. Not a fan of that type of seating.
This is my favorite restaurant and i always get the rolled chicken marsala. This time they did away with the stuffed rolled marsala and just had the regular chicken marsala which was very good but not as good as the stuffed rolled marsala. My husband had the stuffed lobster ravioli which he said there wasnt much lobster in the ravioli. We were disappointed.
This was a place my wife and I tried. It had a great atmosphere. The food was good, service was excellent, I would recommend people to give it a try.
Another outstanding meal at one of our favorite restaurants .
It is,worth the 50 minute drive to hsve inventive cuisine, or some old favorites, prepared with skill, presented with flair, and always very very goid.
We had a very small table stuck between 2 booths. Waiter was good but took a very long time to take our orders.
One of my favorite restaurants.... Best Parmesan I've had in quite some time.
Loved it! The waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient.
My husband and I where celebrating Valentine's, but also had our first date here in 1996. I was looking forward to recreating our special night, I blind folded him for the ride from Smithfield to Pawtuxet. Unfortunately, the waiter was rushed, he, was MIA a lot, he didn't serve our food that was fine, but then he brought over my husbands pasta that was forgotten, he didnt offer grated cheese, fresh pepper, just put it down and took off. The other awful part was, we where seated along the wall where the seating is grouped too way to close for intimate date ( I did mention we were celebrating, and we had our first date there) I noticed other people asking not to be seated there. I wanted the honey chocolate cake with a decaf for dessert, at first he said it was sold out, then a minute later came back to say it just was made fresh again so instead of check I asked for...i I got what I found to be a stale brownie and caramel so hard it would break a tooth. I did mention my disappointment to the quality control girl, all she had to say "Oh I'm so sorry, hope you have a better rest of your night" BTW the longest employee has been there 5 years, they may all gave been born in 1996 as well, I don't think they had the knowledgebase to handle a complaint, all except for the 5yr LONG waiter who was on top of his game with his tables, a gentleman didn't like his side and he got a great side of pasta dressed with cheese and greens, apparently the Bolognese (this is not what the guy had mind you, but the quality girl was fumbling) is different from my husbands plain 10 pieces of pasta! I have to say the sauce was light, pasta perfect aldente but the serving/presentation was awful, It's too bad because the food is on point, we had the veal chop $38, aged sirloin $38, and 2 beers, ammaretto sangria, dessert $12, antipasto (cheese/meat board)$18 this was lacking, olives, toast points, jam, something other than the 4 meats and cheese and ketchup dots!
Basta was a disappointment. We got a recommendation from a friend with glowing reviews, but it didn't deliver. Food was mediocre - I got a burrata and beet salad and the gnocchi. It was just okay. I was expecting much better for the price. My husband was very disappointed with the calamari - lackluster, no tentacles. He said he had better at a chain bar & grill. Better is expected in RI. Service wasn't great. I would have liked some hand crafted cocktails, but instead received mass-batch made sangria that was overly sweet and over priced. Dessert of lemon curd tart was not good. Ambiance was nice on Valentine's Day and we were seated right at our reservation time.
