For this reason we recently underwent a comprehensive renovation, updating and upgrading every facet of our restaurant, from design and equipment to menu and energy. Absolutely HORRIBLE experience. We ordered promptly: clams casino, bronzino and tortellini ala vodka. The clams casino came out undercooked and cool to the touch and were sent back. We waited more than an hour for entrees that NEVER ARRIVED. We inquired about our entrees with three different staff members including our waitress Jackelin and manager Kevin. We waited another 15 minus for them to come back with no food. We asked for our check, assuming it would be for what we consumed in their restaurant. Nope, they swiped our card for the entire bill after waiting a combined hour and a half for food that never arrived. Outrageous, poor business and shame on your rude management.

In the past, we’ve had enjoyable dinners but last night was awful. Not the service, but the noise level was through the roof. There was a large party behind us and they were extremely loud and overwhelming. We had to scream in order to hear each other. Lastly, I had the salmon and although it was cooked fine, it had no taste whatsoever. Maybe it was an off night but our experience was much different than previous times. Thought you should know and thanks for your time.

An anniversary dinner started nicely with a complimentary prosecco toast which complemented well the "Driftwood" clams casino, remembering the very popular restaurant that once occupied this space. We enjoyed our meals that featured the Basta Veal Chop is in fact a flattened chop fashioned into two giant cutlets breaded and fried then topped with cheese, shrimp, tomato and a white sauce. Penne in red sauce on the side. This is a giant meal, shareable. Nice wine list. A menu that includes pizza as well as Italian leaning mains. We still remember dancing in the Driftwood. A Happy memory.

We love Basta. We live in the neighborhood, and it's one of our special occasion go-tos. I was pleased to be able to snag a reservation for after my son's high school graduation and had marked that it was a special occasion. As usual, the food was excellent. We shared appetizers of shrimp cocktail and calamari, then had the pistachio cod with beet gnochetti; veal saltimbocca with arancini; chicken parmigiana; and the prosciutto pizza. For dessert, butter cake, tiramisu, gelato, and lava cake. No complaints on any of it! We also appreciated that our server asked us when we sat down whether we were there for any special reason, and went to the trouble of putting a sparkler in my son's dessert to congratulate him on graduation. However, I was disappointed in our seating. We were brought to a VERY small and cramped table "for four" in the bar area, where it was difficult to not feel in the way of passing servers. We had difficulty with the very large menus, which we had to hold in our laps as there wasn't room for bread plates, silverware, water glasses, and menus on the table all at once. Throughout the meal we had to move things around constantly to make space for food, and the (kind, attentive) servers had to reach over and through us frequently because they couldn't easily maneuver around the table. Meanwhile, there were couples seated at much larger and more comfortable tables in the main dining area. It may be quibbling, but I would have hoped that a reservation for four marked with "special occasion" might have caused someone to pause and wonder whether the smallest, noisiest, least conveniently placed table would be the best choice.
