Always a pleasure to have dinner at Basso 56.
Delicious food and great service.
Food is always very good. Nothing fancy but worth the visit. A little pricy for the location but always accommodating.
Food was fair at best. Place is small and crowded. Not very comfortable full of tourists whom are super annoying. Table next to us the lady took the silverware of a client we were wrong for without asking lol. What a classless place
Fantastic pastas with lots of choices. Excellent service to get you out before a concert at Carnegie Hall.
Been coming here for years. Alex and his crew never disappoints. Everything was great, as usual.
Loved it. We’ve been before and it always pjeases
Both the food and service were spectacular. Very warm and friendly staff Will be there again
Wonderful food, service, ambiance. And, not too noisy! Definitely the best Italian restaurant within walking distance of Broadway theaters!! We will be back.
Great meal! Calamari was delicious, great sauce!
Seafood pasta dish was a generous portion and so good!! Wish I could have finished it! Red snapper special was excellent. Efficient friendly service and comfortable space!
The food was very mediocre. We got gnocchi and one other pasta dish. Wasn’t impressed by either.
The Bucatini All’ Amatrican was very salty.
All othe dishes were great.
Told the waiter.
I work nearby but never noticed this place. I had a gift certificate and decided to come for lunch with a colleague. I was surprised at how good the food was. They offer a 3 part lunch special for $25 so we went with that. We were served complimentary bread, olives, and oil. We both started with grilled calamari which were delicious. If I see grilled calamari, I almost always have to order it. Then I had spinach ravioli (ravioli of the day) and my colleague had grilled chicken which had a nice char. I really enjoyed the ravioli which were fluffy spinach and cheese pillows. I appreciated that it was a good portion but not too big since they are so filling. We ended our meal with pana cotta and cheese cake. If you are in the area and in need of lunch, I highly recommend coming here.
We couldn't fault our visit. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, despite us walking in with a screaming 5 month old baby! They made us feel really comfortable and the food was exceptional as well. Having previously visited 5 years before on our honeymoon, we weren't disappointed with our return visit and will definitely go back when we next visit NYC.
I eat here each time I visit New York City. Excellent food, good atmosphere, and friendly staff.
Always a pleasure. Pre show lunch. Great service and great food.
Loved the ambience as we could really unplug from the busy NYC life.
We all loved the food and the service.
Food was great and worth the moderate costs. The ambiance and service were spot on. Would definitely visit again but would request a table away from the restrooms. Seating is too close to the door so you hear more than you should and will leave it at that.
Consistently very good with regard to food and service.
While I’ve been to Basso several times, this trip was a bit disappointing. Really missed seeing Alex & Paolo’s charming personalities. Mentioned it was my husband’s bday when I made a reservation via OpenTable, but no mention of it. I’m blaming the fact that I had a very early resv-2:00. Food will be the reason that I will return. See you soon.
A fantastic meal while in the city with my mum.
Couldn't have asked for a better meal - bread, olives, wine, mozzarella and luxurious mains. What a treat!
Incredible! The entire evening was spectacular and the food even better! I will make this a stop every time I go to NY. I am gluten and dairy free and they made me a dish that was so very delicious!
Excellent food and generous portions
We were a group of 6 that saw an exhibit in New York and Basso 56 had great reviews so we thought we would check it out. We were not disappointed. The Price fix menu was reasonably priced and offered many delicious options. The appetizers we had were excellent and portions were more than reasonable. The same can be said for the entrees and dessert selections. We would go back without hesitation!!
tis was a nice contemporary italian. food was cooked well and presented nicely. Staff were very helpful
Food was excellent and the service provided by Arbresha was exceptional.
We loved our dinner at Basso56. This was our first time there and we wanted to order everything on the menu--very tough to decide! We started with the burrata appetizer along with the eggplant appetizer. Both were delicious. The homemade spaghetti and meatballs were a special that night and it was excellent. I ordered the lamb chops on the menu and I was less than pleased. There were 3 lamp chops, all of different sizes. The problem with that is they cooked differently. I ordered them medium rare. One came that way, one more rare and the third was more well done. They weren't juicy or crispy where they should have been. I would never order them again. The crepes with chocolate were wonderful and satisfied our sweet tooths. I loved everything about this restaurant except for my lamb chops so we will be back.
We have been there many times and love this restaurant. This was the first time we have been there that we told them we had a curtain to make and no attempt was made to pace the meal appropriately. ( we arrived at 5:30 for a 7 pm show less than 10 minutes away). We had to ask for the check when the meal arrived and certainly didn’t have time for dessert and coffee. However, I believe this to be an anomaly and I will absolutely return again—-it’s my NYC favorite.
Perfect spot for dinner before show at Lincoln central / consistently good food , service
60th bday dinner for my mom- it was great- just three of us. She loved the food and wine. It was definitely busy and noisy but we had a blast! Great service too.
Great wine list
Felt like we were in Italy
Excellent meal. My friend had very tender and tasty veal scaloppini, and I had sea food risotto., which was the perfect texture and some of the best prepared calamari I’ve had in recent years. Great choices in the menu - I look forward to trying some in future visits.
Also good! Always reliable! Food and Service are fabulous! Business and Family dinners - you will not be disappointed with Basso 56! Thanks again for a great night!
Always reliable always friendly capable service. Easily accommodates food preferences
Always enjoy a stop when in NYC.
Warm and welcoming
Fantastic food, prompt service and friendly staff. We cleaned our plates, and so did everyone around us.
The team at Basso56 was truly lovely and accommodating. We had a very big group at prime time on a Friday night which had to change size a few times and the manager and the waiter could not have treated us better. We always had someone checking in on us, everyone was well taken care of, and best of all the food was delicious!
