Always a treat to dine here. Welcoming staff and excellent food! We will be back often!!
A pleasant find - small and comfy so long as you are not seated by a large party
Food was good and dished nicely
Always a welcoming and wonderful evening. The owners are the workers and that is never a bad thing
I have been at Basso A lot of times and the dinner have been good but this time the food was not good.
The beef we order was over cooked and it was not good.
The server took the plate before we was finished.
Good atmostphere for tucked away Italian. Service was impeccable! Pasta with eggplant was good, but pasta was a bit hard and I like mine al dente. Otherwise a lovely place for dinner.
Very noisy on a Saturday night, tables jammed together, food mediocre, coffee too hot to drink before leaving for show. Not great, and pretty expensive for what you get.
Always a great choice!
I love this restaurant. It is welcoming from the minute you enter. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious.
Been to this restaurant many times. Maybe they had a bad night but the food was sub par. Marinara sauce was weak(thought of asking for some oregano to sprinkle on it) and my wife’s seafood risotto was pasty and the calamari was tough. Sorry guys I hope this isn’t permanent
A classic place for reasonable Italian. Quiet and excellent service, even the manager gets involved –in so many locations, the manager hangs around the front and does nothing else. Food is at the top, think their ravioli is one of the best. I had Branzino and was well prepared and presented. All around great experience, and it doesn't damage your wallet. Special thanks to the service who has waited on us the last two times and adds to the experience. Yeah... I like this place.
Worth your visit to experience the dining .
I have dined here with my wife 9 times over the last 6 years. We are always treated well and the food is outstanding. This time we felt rushed, it was our anniversary so we were kind of put off. My wife also said her food was not as hot as it should to have been. Other than that it was a great experience.
Food and service excellent.
We have been coming for years and it never disappoints! Great food, service, atmosphere !
This was our second time here. It was just as wonderful as the first time. The food is fresh. Service was
excellent. One of our favorite places to eat when in the city. The Spaghetti and meatballs are Amazing..
Always love it there!
Excellent as usual specials are great but so the regular menu
We enjoyed our dinner and the waitress made our Anniversary celebration memorable. This is a place that considers service to be very important. And the food is excellent. It is a bit pricey but is worth it . Our son recommended it and we were not disappointed .
We sooo enjoyed our visit to Basso56, based on another friend’s recommendation. Very good food and good value. Have already passed on the name and will keep it as a good option!
Basso56 serves consistently delicious food and its prix-fixe weekday lunch is the absolute best bargain in the city.
We had a pleasant experienced at Basso56, but it's overrated in my view. The service was attentive. On the whole, our appetizers and entrees were average. No dish was extraordinary. The pan fried and grilled fish dishes were acceptably prepared; however, the seafood in the pasta dishes was overcooked.
Outstanding food and service. One of the best in NYC
Went for pre-fixe lunch with co-workers. Food was delicious, service was great! Had gnocchi with tomato basil sauce; thoroughly enjoyed it. Flavor was outstanding. Also liked that tables were not so close together. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
A top spot around the Columbus Circle area. We had dinner prior to attending the jazz club. Food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Fairly extensive menu. Good bar. We would definitely go there again and highly recommend it.
We have been dining at Basso 56 for many years. Every time we are in the city we try to make time during our stay to dine here. Recommend making reservations prior as sometimes we end up trying to get in last minute and tables are full. It's wonderful to be greated at the door and remembered each time you return. Makes you feel special! Everyone is very friendly and the food is amazing. We love it!
Excellent skirt steak, and sauteed spinach.
My friend had the salmon which she found tough and dried out. Her cheesecake also
tasted dried out not moist as Italian cheesecake should taste.
I was very happy with my meal.
Always superb cuisine, superior service and a warm welcome, all at a fair price.
Food was outstanding (the pasta was as good as any I've had in Rome), as was the service. The prix fixe lunch special is such a great deal. For 6 people to be able to have a delicious lunch, with apps, entrees, dessert and some drinks for $40/pp including tax and 20% tip, is remarkable. What a deal! I would come back in a minute.
Fantastic find, little gem with massive UPS. Food and service were excellent. Our last night in NYC and we couldn’t have picked a better place to toast the big apple!
The restaurant is consistently good. The food is very good and well priced. The staff is very friendly and eager to please. We met a couple from out of town and they were glad they found this restaurant - so are my husband & I!!!
Food was very disappointing.
Service was very friendly and with a personal note. Food was excellent and wine was excellent too.
This lovely restaurant is a dream - simple but sophisticated- with wonderful service and delicious food.
Always a supreme dinning experience. The staff is outstanding and very accommodating. It’s my second home
The food is fabulous. Delicious homemade pastas. Healthy and vegetarian options. Excellent menu. Salads and starters too. Wine is excellent. Lunch prix fixe is a steal. Wonderful montepulciano. Love it though it’s nowhere near me.
Always my Favorite. Food is great and Alex and Paolo always do their best to make you feel at home.
attentive staffs, good home-style cooking, cozy environments.
Excellent find for an easy meal. Welcoming and warm. Great food.
The service was lackluster. The food was awful. The prices were steep. The restaurant smelled musty and no air flow. It was terrible. I would never recommend this place nor go back. Just terrible. And we eat out all the time and are foodies. This place was not good.
